Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

More fun at the F&WF! I too would have skipped the lobster cuddler, I mean JUST a lobster claw- really. I love that they have added picnic tables, those are really needed. Glad you got to jump ahead at Soarin', sorry you did not get to see Impressions De France . Love that movie! Can't wait to find out if you made it to Yachtsman Steakhouse.

In retrospect, I wish I'd picked up the paper dolls for DD. Although she was a little too young to get into the royal wedding. I was about 9 when Charles and Di married and I remember getting up to watch it with my mom.

Haha, funny face, right? I didn't even notice he was in the pic 'til I was uploading them at home. I haven't shown him yet.

I know, great idea on the tables! There was another area with them in Germany that'll come up in day two. Yeah, just a claw - strange right! I thought maybe it'd be a couple of claws out of the shells in a butter sauce or something like that!

More great yummies from the F&WF! The plane picture was pointed out to us by a CM once when we were waiting to head up for the American Adventure. He saw Luke and I checking out all the paintings so he took us around and told us secrets about all of them. Special moment!

Day 1, Part 6

We headed out the International Gateway and off toward the Boardwalk.

We made a quick stop to peruse the gift shop before heading in. Earlier in the afternoon I’d started to have an inkling that we’d be too full for our much anticipated dinner at YSH. On the walk back we discussed it further and decided it was best to cancel so we stopped at the lobby concierge to do that. I was really bummed about having to cancel this one but I knew if we went I’d end up making myself ill from overeating and that’s just really no fun.

With that settled we headed back to the room with all intentions of changing in our bathing suits and going to the pool. Well, until we sat down that was…and then we just didn’t feel like getting up again! DH was dozing off and on while I watched some TV. At one point I went to check out the view on our balcony and I could hear the Eat to the Beat concert – 38 Special. And they were playing “Hold on Loosely,” which was the hit they were noted for on all the brochures. Pretty cool – listening to live music and a view of Epcot (there’s Morocco!) in the distance:

Around 7:30 p.m. we had freshened up and decided to head back to Epcot for a bit. DH wore his OkaB sandals, which I knew was a bad idea, and we barely made it to Flying Fish before he said his feet were hurting. So back he went to the room to change shoes while I took some pics.

With that settled we entered the International Gateway and decided to hit a couple of the booths we had missed earlier. I was surprised at how crowded Epcot was compared to the afternoon. The lines were really long and I could tell finding any spot to eat – be it a bench or a highboy – was going to be tough.

We started off at Greece where we got chicken souvlaki with tzatziki and griddled Greek cheese with pistachios and honey.

Both these dishes were so good! I wish the griddled cheese was a little more ooey-gooey, but there seemed to be a hold up with the souvlaki (many guests were standing with half their order waiting for it) so I think it got a little cold. In any event, the tang of the cheese with the sweet of the honey was so very tasty!

We ended up having to balance our plates on top of a garbage can for this one (which sounds really gross when I write it but at least Disney’s trashcans are very clean).

Next we headed across the way to the Canada booth for chicken chipotle sausage with sweet corn polenta. This was a favorite from last year and it was just as good! I forgot that it packs a bit of a punch with the spice so I was glad we had a big bottle of water!

We were able to squeeze in around a planter in International Plaza. Lots of people were there holding seats for Illuminations. At this point I decided I was a little too overtired to wait in any more booth lines/hunt for seating so we decided to leisurely make our way back to International Gateway.

We stopped in Karamell Kuche to get my Mom’s popcorn. Holy cow the line was INSANELY long! I didn’t know if I had to wait in that entire line just to check out with a prepackaged item or not and I didn’t want to appear to be a line cutter either. What I ended up doing was going to the Christmas Shop that’s connected and checking out there, where there was only one person in line. Of course I couldn’t check out there without buying and item from their store so I got one of those tea light holders that has the things above it that move from the wind created by the candle (I have no idea what the name for this is – we have a Halloween one with witches that go round and round; this one had angels).

We then headed next door to the glass shop in search of something “Donald” for my Dad. We found a really cool, engrave-able mug that was perfect. I asked the CM how long it would take and she called to the kiosk outside and said 10 minutes. Excellent and we actually got to watch the glass cutter do his work on our mug (we had it engraved with Grandpa):

Very cool to watch this skill.

As we made our way toward Japan we caught a glimpse of Illuminations.

Our mission in Japan was Poky! We love the stuff. They had some new flavors that we didn’t see last time but we stuck with original, which is our all time favorite. We got two big packages of the individual “92 calorie” pouches.

By now it was about 9:30 p.m. and although Epcot had EMHs until midnight, I was about out of steam.

Funny thing happened as we headed out – I felt hungry. Doh! But it was that weird hunger where there’s nothing in particular you want to eat – ever had that? In the end we decided a slice of pizza from the Boardwalk Pizza Window would hit the spot.

The pizza was pretty tasty and fit the bill.

And of course I can’t end a meal without something sweet so we headed into Boardwalk Bakery and set our sights on the cupcakes. DH was interested in the Oreo Bon Bon so that’s what we got.

Cute, isn’t it? Well folks, I never thought I’d meet a cupcake I didn’t like but I did. This was just downright awful. The Oreos were soggy and the frosting was some sort of whipped cream concoction – not butter cream, which to me is an abomination! I thought maybe the cookies and cream filling would save the day but nope, flavorless. Oh well, there would be plenty of good eating to come!

Once back in the room we watched a little TV then called it a night, with alarm set for 6:30 a.m. so we could make it to EMHs at MK.

Up Next: How did I not know this??!

What a shame about the cupcake, especially as it looked so good. At least everything else sounded wonderful!

Hmm your Lobster Cuddler looks nothing like the photo posted on the DFB: Hops and Barley: 2011 Epcot Food and Wine Festival | the disney food blog

I was looking forward to that one, but I'm going to have the lobster roll if your photo is the current dish!

Sounds like you had a very yummy day!

Hmmm, that's really strange!!! The couple behind us had the item in the second photo and I thought that was the New England Lobster Roll - but I'm really not sure because I didn't hear them actually order. The item in the first picture looks like the Lobster Roll from last year's booth, before Linda Bean.
