REALLY, Another Change PTR Oct 5-16 - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The Poly is one of the best places to be able to swim & see the castle or watch the fireworks from the beach is great.
The next change came from Disney on our ADR. I think out of the 12 ADR that we wanted 2 of them we actually get the time and date we wanted. On July 7th I was up at 5:45 I jumped on the computer & got all set up for doing some online dining. We were going to call at 7 to get most of them but I was worried about LeCellier. At 6am I got on to try to get LeCellier for Oct 9 for dinner. I couldn’t get anything so I tried lunch & was able to get some to snag a 12:30 for lunch. I check for the other day we are at Epcot & was able to snag a 6:05 at LeCellier. After that we waited until 7am to call & get the rest of them. Since at that point of time we were using my reservation at the Poly. Most of the reservations were in my name. The ones we did online are in my Mom’s name. When we switch to BLT & got rid of the Poly ressie. We called to make sure the dining is OK. My mom called DVC to change something & asked if all of dining was still OK since we cancel the ressie. She asked my name & couldn’t find it. Great don’t tell me that we lost all of ressies. She asked my mom for a confirmation number of one of our ADR. It came up right a way. They spelled my last name wrong & switching 2 of the letter. So I printed out envelopes for our dining by putting what name & confirmation number on each envelope. We make up envelopes for the tips & just grab them out of the coupon pouch that we take.
So on with the food. I did add on Courtney’s graduation & first visit to all the ressies.
Oct 5th- 1900 Park Fare at 6:55. This is a first time for us but excited to check it out
Oct 6th-Tony’s Town Square at 6:55 Another first for us.
Oct 7th-Crystal Palace 10:10am We ate here last year & loved the food. Oct 8th-Planet Hollywood at 7:00pm This is one of Shayne’s favorite & figure Courtney would get a kick out of it.
Oct 9th- LeCellier at 12:30pm. This will be the first time for lunch.
Oct 10th- Spirit of Aloha at 8:00pm We did this last year & figure Courtney would really enjoy it. Oct 11th- Chef Mickey’s at 5:35pm
Oct 12th- Ohana’s Breakfast Buffet at 10:00am. I love me some blue Alien!!!!!!!!!!
Oct 13th-50’s Prime Time at 12:00pm This one is my mom’s favorite.

I just got most of my stuff packed. Just a few last minute things.
Sorry about the delay. We had Courtney’s graduation ceremony Thursday night. It was beautiful & we are so proud of her.
On to our schedule & actually it was not safe from changes including one made 2 weeks ago.
Mon Oct 5th-This day & the last day are switch on the schedule that I will post a picture of. Last minute changes. Blizzard Beach is today, our flight arrives at Orlando at 9:20 & last year we were at the hotel by I think 10:30. We think we should be there be 11:00am. We are not sure if we are having a counter service at the hotel or Blizzard Beach. First thing on agenda is family raft ride. We have not done much at BB before so we might explore. We are not sure about mini golf. We might do that today, another day, or not at all we haven’t decided yet.
Tues Oct 6th-MNSSHP night. We had bought our MNSSHP tickets in May before all the Changes came. So we already had them 7 normal wouldn’t do the party our first full day there but we got to roll with the flow. We are going to have a chill out morning if we want to do anything we can but probably will explore the hotel some. We will eat at Tony’s at 6:55pm, hoping to get a table outside for the atmosphere. We are using the same outfits from last year except for we now have Elizabeth Swann joining our crew. Thank you Courtney. I am not sure if my dad or Shayne will be Jack this year. Hopefully we will have some Photopass pics with Jack in them this year.
Wed Oct 7th -MK. Today we will be at MK all day. We have CP for breakfast & probably a counter service at the park. Tonight there is a Spectro & Wishes. I don’t know if we will watch them that night or another night.
Thurs Oct 8th- TL. This is our favorite water park. We usually eat breakfast at the hotel before heading out then get a snack there. We are planning on spending the whole day there. We are eating at Planet Hollywood at 7:00pm
Fri Oct 9th-Epcot Future World. We do have lunch at LeCellier at 12:30pm. This is the first time we will be eating lunch here. We will do some favorites at Epcot. CS will probably be something at FW. The game plan is to walk over Beaches & Cream later so that we can get the Kitchen Sink. I am hoping to see Illumination one of the days we are there.
Sat Oct 10th- Chill out day. We are going over to the CBR to have lunch & rent boats. I think the guys are getting a little braver because they think they might want to rent boats at CR too. We have the luau at 8:00pm. We are going to head over early to do our own photo shoot on the beach.
Sun Oct 11th-Magic Kingdom today is MK EMH PM. We are thinking we would like to get up in the morning & head over. Come back to the hotel for an afternoon break then head over again after dinner. MK is open until 2am with EMH. That is the latest it has ever been open when we are there. Most of the time it was 11pm with EMH. We are excited about that. We have dinner at Chef Mickey’s at 5:35
Mon Oct 12th-DTD a shopping & DQ day. We will be having breakfast with my favorite blue alien at Ohana’s at 10am. Sandwiches at EOS will be later whenever we get hungry
Tues Oct 13th-Hollywood Studios. We have lunch at 50’s Primetime at 12:00pm. We will probably get fast passes for TSM. They have 2 Fantasamic showings so we will probably watch the later one. We missed it when we were there last year
Wed Oct 14th- Epcot World showcase let the food & FAB start. We have breakfast at Cape May’s again this year at 10:15am. We had such a good time last year we are going to try it again. We have LeCellier at 6:05pm. It is extra magic hours so we plan our take our time tour the countries.
Thurs Oct 15th- AK today. We are heading over to do our favs. This is not a full day park for us & we like to be able to go back in the afternoon after the parade & Start packing up. We are going to try Yak & Yeti for a CS. Dinner will be at Kona Café at 7:55pm.
Fri Oct 16th- Departure day such a sad day, except for we will be back in least than a year to enjoy a trip with my brother & kids. We did EB check in for SW & have breakfast at Chef Mickey’s at 10am. We will head over to MK for last fix & probably get lunch somewhere before we leave. Our flight home is at7:25, with DME it will probably leave around 4pm. We will arrive at Pittsburgh at 9:40pm
So that is our schedule. I will try to do another update tomorrow with all the little odds & ends that I made. I will be doing some live updates. Up Next: Hopefully little odds & ends.
What great pictures from the graduation, what a proud moment for everyone. Your plans look great, and you got some wonderful ADR's (how lucky to get Le Cellier twice )
