Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I have two, my 1st wasnt actually at Disney but at universal...When i went on my 1st trip my younger sister was only 2 so she could come on a few rides with us, anyway, me and my mum partnered up and went on the Jaws ride while my stepdad n bro waited with my younger sister.

I, being a slightly over confident 12 year old as i love big roller coasters and my mum gets scared at anythin! So we got on the ride and i was trying to act really cool as my mum was quite nervous. Theride starts and the Tour guide gets the call over the radio about there being a shark lurking about and i just sat there giggeling at my mum givin it a 'oh please mum ur such a baby i cant believe your actually scared!' just i said that a great EXTREAMLY OBVIOUS PLASTIC shark head pops up RIGHT next to me...well i SCREAMED very very loud and jumped so i was practically sat on my mums lap!

I turned beetroot red and the entire boat (including the tour guide although bless her she wasnt trying to show it) went up in fits of laughter!

My other was when i went to see the its tough to be a bug 3D show i think its called? Anyway i went in and sat down and when the spiders came (im extreamly scared of spiders) i burst into tears and ran out falling over a couple of people on the way.

ahhhhhhhhhhh the memories D

It wasnt on a ride but on a trip to Disney we stayed off property the first 2 nights and did other parks, the girls and I went for a walk from the hotel, they were doing construction so we had to walk up and around it, as we were chatting as walking and clutsy me didnt look down the driveway dipped for water run off into a culvert, well where do you think I went_______ fell and went rolling my head ended up in the culvert looking down into this pit area. My girls were laughing there heads off I guess it must of looked very funny Mom rolling down the driveway of this hotel. I was all scrapped up and really hurting before we even got to Disney, even had to take my wedding band off because my hand swelled up, got sick to my stomach from the pain and was very very embarresed, not to mention mad at that moment at the girls for laughing. And thinking gosh if that had been a small child they would of fell into it the opening was that big.

these stories remind me of America's Funniest Home Videos - did anyone else see the one this week? This grandma gets talked into riding some rollercoaster by her grandkids. They film her - she is terrified! The next day they talk her into it again! They film it again and she is still terrified! She won the $100,000! When the host asked her why she did it the second day she said, well they conned me again and I didn't think I would be as scared the second time!

Well, it wasn't on a ride...

We were in AK, and I was having a grand old time filming my DD walking into railings and laughing so hard I had to go tinkle REALLY bad. I ran to the restroom, and did my business and came back out to the kids. The camcorder was on it's strap around my neck, and y'know how the lens cap is attached to the camera with a string? Well, I grabbed the camera up really fast to catch something going on, and I painfully found out that after I had buttoned my shorts (evidently with the lenscap dangling against my stomach), the lenscap came out the fly, and I zipped up the shorts...

Yeah, I yelled (boy did that one hurt, let me tell you, I SNATCHED that camera up FAST!!), I was mortified because we were between Primevil Whirl and Triceratops Spin, everyone was looking, and I'm standing there with a lens cap stuck in my fly!

The worst thing...the kids had seen it and didn't tell me!!!!

I just remembered another one...
in 2006 we took the whole family yo WDW for a family reunion...(boy did we save for a long time to do that...) My mom and dad had never been before so it was really a great trip. DMom had DD (5 at the time) while we were all on BTMRR since DD was too small for it at the time. We all had walkie-talkies so we said we'd meet up with them after. The line took longer than we thought so I called Mom and suggested she and Autumn should go see the Enchanted Tiki Room. Bless her heart, DMom comes back to say that she didn't think Autumn had to go Tiki-Tiki right now, that they were going to go shop. I usually have my radio turned up loud (I have lost a little of my hearing due to my job) so EVERYONE heard it...it was TOO goofy...and I was laughing so hard that I had to crawl out of line to go Tiki-Tiki myself!

Danielle the quote about your mom "Bless her heart, DMom comes back to say that she didn't think Autumn had to go Tiki-Tiki right now, that they were going to go shop. "

I laughed so hard my 4 year old woke up and came down stairs still half asleep to ask me why I was laughing so hard!

My fav embarressing moment was when my 4 yr old DD HAD to wait in line to meet Cinderella's Stepmother and Stepsisters. She waited ever so patiently for 15 min - that should have been my first clue because she HATES them. Then it was Anna's turn. She marched up to the three of them and ordered them to "be nice to Cinderella!" She then proceded to frown very hard at them. The stepsisters stuck their tongues at Anna and the stepmother told her that Cinderella was not her problem anymore - which just got more sass out of my daughter's mouth. The CM's and the rest of the line were howling with laughter. The photopass guy was laughing so hard he was crying.

Oh well, she is definetly MY kid.

Ok , so think back to the EARLY days of WDW, in the early 70's. My Aunt and her best friend who go every year with their families to WDW and then afterward stay at the beach. Well, these two decided that instead of getting out of the pool, ocean, whatever, and having to wash and fix thier hair each night to go out to dinner(think 70's beoufont hairdoo) They thought it would be a great idea to buy wigs and then just put them on before going to dinner. So everything is going as planned and then they went to some zoo for a diversion. They were looking at some monkeys and guess what, THE MONKEY REACHED THROUGH THE CAGE AND PULLED MY AUNTS WIG OFF! She couldn't get it back! And apparently her hair was a disaster under that wig! You can imagine in the heat of summer and all. That story has been told and retold in my family and even acted out in a skit!
