As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just got caught up in your trip report. Loving all the pictures, they are great. Looks like everyone had a fantastic time at lunch at Crystal Palace. Those Splash pictures are always funny. Thanks for sharing.
The meal at CP looks like it was so much fun! This is one of my favorite places to eat and we've never missed it on a single trip. I can't wait to see the group picture in front of the castle!

That is cracking me up too!! But I've gotten in the habit of doing it when at Disney as most people assume I'm a cast member anyway! Great photos Chez. I was so happy to see you and not just because I knew you had Cadbury for me!
Your face on SplM was priceless... What a wonderful turnout at the CP lunch, glad everyone had such fun with the characters, I am sure that they will not be forgetting your group anytime soon!!
Saturday 2 May – part six: can the “poor children” come in?!
Once that was done, we said our goodbyes, as it was so hot and we were dead on our feet. It was such a shame, as I would’ve loved to have done the quest with everyone, but the heat had finished me off.
We walked out with Joy and took the monorail back to the hotel. We then spent the next couple of hours lounging in the room, with a bottle of wine and some soft drinks, good for re-hydration obviously. It was just nice to get out of the sun and cool down.
During that time, Wendy decided to open up her basket:
After a couple of hours in the room, we were ready to head down to the Contempo Café for some good. Just as we were about to head out, I got a text from Sue, saying that they were about to leave Old Key West. I knew that they had been talking about going to the Plaza for dinner, so I called to ask what they were doing and to suggest that they come to join us, especially as they were planning on driving, which meant they could park at the Contemporary. They agreed and we headed out to the balcony to wait for them.
Just before they arrived, housing brought us a new pillow for me. Wendy had called them to ask for one, as I was having real problems with the ones we had there and I think that’s what led to my sinus this morning. Therefore, it was ironic when my cell rang a few minutes later and it was Sue asking if the “poor children” who were knocking at our door outside could come in. Well, they couldn’t have knocked that hard, as we managed to hear housekeeping.

Then we headed down to the fourth floor, where we tried to work out what to eat at the Contempo Café. Just as we had, we moved to the self service points they have and when I started to use them, suddenly dishes appeared on the menu that weren’t listed, like the pasta marinara. Very odd. That threw me and it took me some time to decide what to eat. Eventually I opted for the cheese flatbread and Wendy told me I could share hers, so I grabbed a pina colada cup cake to go with it and that was me sorted.
You order and pay for your food here, then you’re handed a buzzer and you find a table to sit at. When your order is ready, your buzzer goes, just as it would, when they notify you at a table service restaurant when your table is ready. It’s a bit of a strange system, but when the food arrived, it was good. I was impressed with both of my choices, but the real winner was Wendy’s choice, the spicy Mahi Mahi. It’s nice to see a counter service place serving up more unusual choices.

That done, we headed back to the room to pick up what we needed for the night (not much, as we went without bags to miss the security check) and then we walked over there. Sue was hosting tonight’s SpectroMagic, so we didn’t want to be late and we weren’t.
We still had time to spare when we got there, so we grabbed a quick Photopass photo at the entrance before going into the park to find a space.
First we found one opposite the station, but as I pointed out, there was barely any room there, so we moved to the other side, where there was much more space for a big group of us. Then the fun began with trying to keep all the space for us. Fortunately, before long, more people turned up to help us, including Jennifer’s mum, who I hadn’t seen for five years, since they got married. I also saw Bruce and Marta, who of course we first met on the Mediterranean cruise two years ago. It was such a lovely surprise to be able to catch up with them and I ended up chatting to those three for much of the time, while we waited for the parade.
As we sat there, our numbers grew beyond belief and when I went to get a shot of the group, I couldn’t believe how many of us there were.
