The Holi-Canoli! Whirlwind Trip That Wasn't Supposed to Be - Page 38 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

After our fulfilling lunch, our FPs for EE were burning a hole in my pocket. It was time to face the Yeti again. On our way there, we stopped for PP pictures. I’ve never seen Tinkerbell sitting before.
We used our FPs for EE. It was fantastic, once again! Oh, and I don’t think I have mentioned this yet, the three times we have ridden this so far, we have been in the last two rows. How funny is that? And, I still hadn’t gotten a good picture of the Yeti yet. Will I ever get one?
The 3:15 p.m., showing of Nemo was on the horizon, and we wanted to see that. It would be another first for us. We walked in that direction and got in the incredibly long line. We had these guys to entertain us. They were fantastic!
The wait wasn’t long for Nemo, and we eventually made it in but we were in the nosebleed section. I was a little disappointed, but I know that next time, I’ll have to wait in line for a while or get an ADR with the seats that go along with it.
Nemo was very cute. We all thought they did a great job. I want to sit closer next time though. We left Nemo while they were bowing so we didn’t have to fight the crowd. We headed to Dinoland and got right in line for Dinosaur. There really wasn’t much of a line which was nice. I decided to do a funny picture for the ride photo, so I fixed my hair. Michael looks bored out of his mind.
We then went to Primeval Whirl. The CM was hysterical and insisted we let him take a picture of us in our vehicle. It turned out pretty good.
I realize we hadn’t been on this ride since 2005, but it seemed awfully jerky and not near as smooth as it used to be. We all commented on it and none of us enjoyed the ride. I was rather disappointed. Oh well.
We left Dinoland and found our spots for Mickey’s Jungle Jammin’ Parade. We had never seen this parade, and I was really looking forward to it. We sat down near the entrance to Camp Minnie Mickey because we were going there next to try to see Thumper and Miss Bunny. I was not disappointed in the parade at all. It was fabulous! I loved all of the floats, animals and stilt walkers. Michael took pictures while I videoed it. There are a lot of pictures.
After the parade, we booked it to Camp Minnie Mickey.

What a great AK day so far!! Isn't Devine just amazing??!! Our November trip was the first time I had ever seen her as well. Love the picture of the owl from FOW. He absolutely looks like he has something to say. Just not sure what I LOVE Yak & Yeti and we had a fabulous dinner there. Those are great pictures from the parade. The floats and decorations remind me of Lion King on Broadway. Hope you got to see the bunnies...
I just finished reading all of your posts- THEY ARE GREAT! I must admit, like the others here at PP, I too was crying happy tears as I read about your wonderful reunion. I can't wait to read the next installment! BTW- I am planning a surprise trip for my daughter(14) and me ....I just don't know if I can keep it a secret for 7 more weeks- I don't know how you did it

We made our way back to the characters, and we didn’t see either bunny. There was a man playing a guitar and singing, and then we saw a CM who said Miss Bunny was coming right out. Yay!! We were first in line. We asked if Thumper was coming out, too, and she said he’d be out later.
Miss Bunny was so cute! Victoria didn’t have a picture drawn of either one of them, but she got her autograph anyway.
It would be a little bit before Thumper was out, so we went to see Minnie, Goofy, and Mickey.
I like this picture because it looks like Mickey is telling me some really important stuff.
We wanted to see Donald, but as we left Mickey, we saw that Thumper was out. Yay! We got in line to see him. He was so cute!
Michael said he couldn’t believe he posed like this. I reminded him that Thumper is male, too.
We left CMM and headed to......EE!! We had to ride it again before the park closed. We booked our way back there and got in what little line there was. Since the park was closing, everyone was going through the FP line. We didn’t get the back two rows this time. What? We were closer to the front, but the ride was still great, and I got a decent picture while on the ride.
We hopped back in line and got the last two rows again. Hysterical! We rode EE five times and were in the last two rows four of those times. What are the odds? Here are our rows.
I finally got some decent pictures inside and around. It only took five tries, right? I like this picture because I am taking a picture upwards, and a man way up in the front is taking a picture backwards so we took a picture of each other.
I finally got a good shot of the tracks.
AND the Yeti’s shadow!
Our final ride photo. Too bad it’s blurry.
That was it. No more EE. The park was closed. We had to walk away. I took a few last shots of the area.
We made our way out of the park. It had been a very good day. I’m not sure what we did for dinner. I probably fixed dinner at the resort, and I’m sure we played the Wii.
UP NEXT: A bit of magic at the MK! Ok...a LOT of magic at the MK!!

Welcome to the boards!! You can do it! You can keep that secret. It was so awesome to see Victoria's face when she saw her daddy walk off that plane. It was the best secret I have ever kept. My DD was 14 when we went in September. It wasn't a surprise though. We had the best time together, just the two of us. I hope you have a wonderful time with your DD.
What a great day at AK, and you definitely got your fill of EE in. How funny that you kept getting the same seats. Love your pictures of the parade, we have never really gotten to watch it in its entirity, definitely want to recitfy that on our next trip. Love the pictures with Thumper...adorable.

Great updates, Laura! You all have a fantastic day at AK. I Jiminy Cricket, too! We were all so excited to finally meet Thumper and Miss Bunny back in October as we had never seen them before. Glad you all got to meet both of them, too. The Jasmine rice at Yak and Yeti is a favorite of mine. So !
