As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Glad to see your back to you again !!! When your at the Poly you'll have to look up our other CM/Cp passporter, Nalla> you may see her with her service Dog. She needs a bit of Magic and maybe a . Hope you will get the chance to enjoy DD's birthday visit at the Poly since you you couldn't enjoy the time you had at AK as much as the girls. Don't forget to get lot's of pictures for us while your there too, And keep having fun with the Magic LouigiAnne
Today was back in stock, but the tiger exam was this morning. Sadly, they bumped it back an hour, so I wasn't able to stay. 10yo had a panic attack early on and wound up vomiting so they missed most of it. There's supposed to be another one next week, so we're going to try again. I felt SO awful for DD, she's been looking forward to this and was even dressed for it in her safari vest w/ all her Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund buttons/pins. Poor thing.
They stopped in to see me for a minute before hopping over to the MK, so that was nice. We're in the throes of "New CP" mode, so things are a bit crazy. It's weird for me being in the middle, I identify very closely with the "permanent" people, but also understand where the CPs are coming from. I am REALLY enjoying the ability to help my fellow CPs with wisdom and a certain amount of leadership and I know my leaders appreciate my being a go-to person for many of the CPs.
I had a nice visit with my manager today about a few opportunities they are going to give me with some additional training here and there. My gut feeleing is that they are not going to offer any management internships and probably not very many professional internships this next semester, so I'm having to consider my options with that in the back of my mind.
I'm off Tues-Thu-Fri this week, which is good b/c I have a paper due in 2 hours and another due Friday night. Guess I'll get crackin'...

Dawn, I just found this thread after being directed here from Nalla's; poor thing is having a bit of a rough time of it; please seek her out and spread some of your PP and CP to her at the Poly when you go.
Anyhow, I've enjoyed reading your adventure up until now and I must say how inspiring it is for me to know someone who's following her dream and making such big changes in her life and the lives of her DD's. I really want to do what you're doing, just pick up and move to FL and work for The Mouse, but I've been afraid to and keep coming up with tons of reasons why "I can't". Well, there are a few good reasons, like not knowing the area, not being able to drive and not really knowing anyone down there to have a support system (I have friends and relatives in the Naples/Ft. Myers area but that's pretty far from WDW). But reading your story helps me keep the dream alive and start thinking about pursuing it again. I don't want to look back and wonder "what if?" and I know life is short, so I need to get off my "can'ts" and just try. So, thanks for that!
You've made so many changes in such a short time! Moving twice, starting a new job, getting accustomed to scheduled hours, dealing with Mother Issues and family drama... it's no wonder that your body rebelled! My goodness! You were doing more on a day off than I do on a work day! Glad you're finally settling in and getting to relax a little and enjoy the experience.
Thanks again for taking us all along on this journey with you. I look forward to the next installment! Oh, and perhaps a picture of your other costumes, soon?

While I was stocking yesterday, one of our new CPs was getting quite a line, so I hopped on register to help out. One of my guests said, "It must be nice to work in a place where everyone is so happy all the time." I told her that it was great to be able to look out of "my" door and see Pluto and Goofy every day and I'm still a bit awestruck by the whole thing.

Dawn, I just found this thread and I'm so happy for you. I needed a thread like this today! Good for you! I hope you are there in June. I'll bring the family by to see you!!!
Sorry your DD missed the Tiger exam, it is so Great that your girls are getting to experience so much of the magic right along with their Mom. Most kids would not have the experiences that they do right now. They have so much available to them, most people only get a little bit of those experiences when they visit AK.. I hope the older girls are also catching the Magic now too. How are their jobs coming along??Post a few new pictures if you can, and I hope that the economy changes for Disney soon so that the programs and positions your seeking will become avail. to you. Good Luck with your test, but we all know you'll do Great!! Try and get some rest remember your still getting better from the Bug> you can't afford a relapse LouigiAnne
