The Promise of Spring: Flower & Garden Festival 4.0 -- A Cam and Luke TR COMPLETED 8/27 - Page 35 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We loved getting the chance to ride Dinosaur all together and yes, Pete and I love posing for the camera on that ride. LOL I was glad the guys got to enjoy EE together! I wish it didn't go backwards because I would actually like the ride otherwise. Those crowds getting over to EE were so bad which made me feel claustrophobic. They certainly need to do better at crowd control in that area. I have to say that the sustainable fish that Luke had at Tiffins was truly disgusting looking but I'm glad that he enjoyed the taste!

For all that money you would think they could remove the head of that fish and make the meal look more appetizing. I don't think I could have eaten with that ugly thing on the table. I think I'll be skipping Tiffins.
My dad and I got caught in that crowd last summer and it was terrifying. He had hit me with his scooter, which didn't help.
I want to know the tips for eating the whole fish. We are headed to Skippers Canteen and while I don't relish the thought of eating something with a face, I want to venture out and try something new.

Great time in the AK with some nice experiences! Too bad with the Nemo show letting out and the crowds! Probably what I've experienced on Main Street USA a few times when parades are about to begin and I'm trying to exit the park for an ADR late in the afternoon!
Glad you enjoyed Tiffin's as much as I did for the first time. I did three apps as you saw in my TR as I was still recuperating from the effects of the large Cali brunch earlier that day! That is a great deal on the package, considering the regular price of your steak!
That was one ugly fish Luke had on his plate! Did your waiter offer to take it off the bone for Luke or was he on his own? Many restaurants will do this for you.

The ride photos are great!!!!! Those apes are our favorite to stop and watch when we catch them playing. The food photos were great too. Now the fish would not be something I think I would try. It looked very scary to me!!
What great pics from Dinosaur and EE
Luke has my respect. I spend a fair amount of my life with a rod and reel in my hands and am a card carrying member of the Catch and Filet club but that bad boy is too ugly and nasty looking for anything other than the chum bucket. TIFFIN has very few things appeal to Lucille on the menu but when she saw the pics of your deserts all she could ask was where is the rest of it So no Tiffin for us
Did you find that it was necessary to have a ROL dining package?
I don't really know because we entered in a very different area from the standby entrance. The seating with the ROL dining packages whether from Tiffins or Tusker House was the best of the seating with a central view of the water.

Ugh, that crowd would've really bothered me. I hate it when people start acting aggressively like that. It's not going to get them anywhere any quicker.
Great meal at Tiffins - I can't wait to go back and probably do a Rivers of Light package, so it was cool to see what you get with it.
I think the intensity of emotions is just as unnerving to me as the size of the crowd.
The ROL dining package for Tiffins is really an awesome deal since you can pick anything off the regular menu.

Kudos for Luke to have eaten it and enjoyed it. Not me!

I like my food to look attractive and that fish was not at all attractive. I just didn't look at it while enjoying my steak.
That fish! I don't think there's any way I could've eaten that, so kudos to Luke for being able to.
It looked like you all had a great time with PP friends! I love seeing other people's ride photos.
Luke is definitely braver than me. Ride photos are very interesting.

He did not eat the eyes, thank goodness.

I get the feeling I'm in the minority on my steak preference.

The backward part is what causes me to get motion sick or might still be riding it, too. Our next AK day we were a little apprehensive about the crowd when we headed to Nemo for our FP, but before and after the show there was no congestion at all. No idea why it was so bad on this day.

Evidently, it is fine cuisine. Tiffins is definitely signature dining.

I'll be no help on the tips. Angela set three utensils by Luke's plate and told him how to use them. There was also a plate for discarding the bones. I paid no attention to the tips as I wasn't going to be eating that fish.

I had looked at the steak on the menu before she told us we could pick anything, and at $53 dollars figure it wouldn't be an option. So as soon as she told us we could pick anything, my choice was decided.
The fish was already deboned, but there were a few random little bitty bones.

I'll eat fried catfish any day, but I'm never eating anything that looks like that fish. The desserts were small, but very rich.
