As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I did some more investigating at the disneyland website on that breakfast. It starts at 5:30 AM, you have to be at the GC at 5 am, and you are escorted out of the park before it opens. You don't have to have park admission for that day. But I swear, for $300, I don't want to be served potato hash! They better be imported rainbow unicorn potatos, baked for 72 hrs at 150 degrees in a bed of himalayan salt. Or some such nonsense.
I must have skipped over that ridiculously awful start time. Another good reason not to do this breakfast.

Wow, finally caught up. I am impressed with your patience in your search for ADRs and shows. It looks like that Disneyland really works for the day tripper. I have never been to Disneyland. Your experience makes me glad that we have concentrated on WDW. The breakfast is ridiculous. I guess one has to be a movie star or someone else with more money than sense to go to that one. That amount of money would cover most of us for almost a week doing CS at WDW. Glad to hear that your Dad is doing so well.
Sounds like you had much better luck than me with shopping. I went to our outlets with high hopes since it is Labor Day weekend and that is usually a great time to shop there. I couldn't find a thing. Ah well... Did you find a water carrier yet? I finally broke down last year and got one. Prior to that, I would just drive the route I was planning to run and stash water that I could grab easily at the halfway point. Totally agree, that breakfast price is ridiculous!

I didn't really have a choice if I wanted to get the ADRs for the dining packages, I had to keep checking every day.

I have ordered a water bottle holder, but due to the holiday weekend, it won't be here until Thursday. I do hope it works.
I'm excited about this trip report and can't wait to read all about DL Your hotel choice is awesome - I've never stayed there but it's on my bucket list!
I think I'm kind of glad our cars don't have key fobs. And that we were lucky enough to get 2 keys with both (used) vehicles. I still can't believe the Jungle Cruise breakfast pricing. I saw that over the weekend and I told my DH. He gave me the "you Disney people are crazy" side eye. I told him I'm not that crazy!

Luke and I knew exactly where we wanted to stay whenever we finally made it to DLR. I've seen photos that others have taken, but I can't wait to see the resort for myself.

I am missing the days when you could make a duplicate key rather easily. I really can't imagine us paying the $600 for the two of us to eat and have some fun.

I knew everything would eventually fall in place, but boy did it take some time.
Not much has happened here Disney planning-wise over the holiday weekend. We did pass the one month mark in our countdown on Sunday. Reading Donna’s PTR for their upcoming WDW trip has made me think that the next thing I need to focus on is my packing list. Tomorrow does mark 60 days prior to the date we’ve chosen for the tour, so that means a wee bit of work as I have to call to book that. Right now I just feel we’re in a holding pattern until we start the actual packing.
Finally sat down today to catch up on your PTR - I am so excited for you and Luke finally getting to DLR. The trip sounds like it will be so much fun. You have patience of a saint though....cannot believe how long it took to load the dining packages. Just crazy. I will be at DL in November and saw the Jungle Cruise Breakfast as well, it looked so cool but that price tag. I mean I would love to play Skipper but not for $300
Tomorrow is our 1 month mark until we're on the Magic! Time is going to fly this next month.

I truly never expected it to be such a long drawn out proces to get those dining packages. I'd love to play Skipper, too, but I'd never be able to spend that much.

This is my day to volunteer at Care Net in the afternoon, so I gave Luke two assignments. One was to look over our Disneyland Resort schedule and decide on a first and second choice of days for the Walking in Walt’s Disneyland Footsteps guided tour. I knew if we decided on the date I was in favor of that I could call and make the reservation today. But I kept going back and forth between Friday, October 9 and Sunday, October 11. He agreed that those two were the best days with Friday winning as our first choice. So when I got home around 4:30, I looked up the phone number and we both looked back over the details. Then I made the call, and was surprised when I connected with a CM in under a minute. Denise was a classic bubbly, friendly, and informative Cast Member. She was very efficient at getting our information and then plugging us in for the tour at 9:30 on Friday, October 9. She suggested we get there around 9:00 in order to meet our guide and place our lunch order for Jolly Holiday Bakery, one of the counter service restaurants I have been very interested in because of the Mary Poppins theme. I’m so excited about this tour. By the way, Luke’s other assignment was to set the DVR to record the two PBS shows that Terri mentions in this post from The Library. http://www.passporterboards.com/foru...im-henson.html I love having Disney stuff to watch right before a trip. I forgot to mention that on Monday afternoon we watched Cars to get us ready for Carsland.

Denise was a classic bubbly, friendly, and informative Cast Member. She was very efficient at getting our information and then plugging us in for the tour at 9:30 on Friday, October 9. She suggested we get there around 9:00 in order to meet our guide and place our lunch order for Jolly Holiday Bakery, one of the counter service restaurants I have been very interested in because of the Mary Poppins theme. I’m so excited about this tour.
