Feelin’ Groovy: A Cam and Luke TR Completed 7/31 - Page 34 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hope Luke gets a good report so he does not have to go through that again. Be glad that he is getting all of the "repairs" done now so he can be fully recovered by Oct. BTW, Judy and I will just miss you. We arrive on Nov 4. You did well with the art by Larry Dotson. He is such a great talent. We have several of his (Frozen and Haunted Mansion themed) pieces. He is a very nice man to deal with. You are correct about the view from your balcony. I believe it would be difficult to tear myself away from there as well.
I finding out that quite a few of us have a collection of 2 or more Larry Dotson prints.

I'm not sure what kept all three of us from thinking of a photo. Maybe another time.
Thanks everyone for the pixies for Luke. His description of how he feels today is "better than yesterday, but still in pain." He's told me that the pain was more than he expected. I must have done a better job than I thought dealing with the pain when I had my kidney stone removed. He's x-ray and doctor's appointment will be Tuesday at 8:00. I'll really hoping for good news.

NEXT: Oops! I had the camera, but what did we forget now?
Day 6 -- Friday, May 13, 2016 – Part 2
As we walked up further into Epcot, Luke got a cool photo of Spaceship Earth. Love it!
Then we crossed over from Future World to the World Showcase where I got a repeat photo of Minnie and Pluto.
Since it was around 11:45 when we finished up at The Art of Disney, I had requested food. We began our quest, starting on the Mexico side of the lagoon. Luke got a Corn Tortilla Quesadilla from Jardin de Fiestas. It was had roasted mushroom and zucchini blossom inside and green tomatillo sauce on the outside. There wasn’t anything that I wanted here, so we kept walk. That’s reason there is no photo of Luke’s delicious eats because we didn’t stop long enough for one. It was here that I also realized that I had forgotten to put my Flower & Garden Festival Passport back in my purse. No problem, I just got another one, but it would have been nice to have all my stamps in one book.
At Norway I stopped us again to take repeat photos of the Anna and Elsa topiaries. For scrapbooking, my DSLR photos are so much clearer than the iPhone when the photos are enlarged.
By the time we reached the African Outpost, we were all three thirsty from our meanderings. Luke got a large Diet Coke, I got a regular Fanta Orange, and Linda got an ice water. I know I’ve still not gotten anything to eat, but I know what I want and where to get it. Destination: Germany and the Bauernmarkt: Farmer’s Market for an “Armer Ritter”. Basically, egg battered toast with cherry compote and powdered sugar. So sweetly yummy! Again no photo. But I did take time while in Germany to capture every single dwarf as well as Snow White.
Luke even managed to capture two additional princesses, Linda and me.
Afterwards, he got a couple of neat photos across the World Showcase lagoon.
Then we were moving again, stopping in Italy for a little more for me to eat at Primavera Kitchen. I chose the Pollo alla Parmigiana, something I usually love. Luke can’t stand some spice in this classic Italian dish and won’t eat it. I’m not sure what it is because parmigiana chicken is rather basic, breaded chicken breast, tomato, parmesan, and mozzarella. I did clean my tapas size plate, but this was not a favorite of the dishes I tried this year. The chicken seemed a bit dry actually. Again no photo. Before leaving Italy, I did get a photo of Lady and the Tramp again. This is one of my favorite topiaries as they both look so adorable.
As we traveled through the American Pavilion, I got a photo of Woody while Luke went to the really nice restrooms here. It didn’t take any time to photograph Woody, so Linda and I went inside the shop here to browse until Luke rejoined us.
We kept up the country hopping until we were between Morocco and France where we stopped so I could get a Key Lime Sparkling Wine by Florida Orange Groves Winery at the Florida Fresh booth. And if you’ve already guessed no photo, I’ve fooled you because we finally sat down, which meant I could get a photo.
Not very groovy of me though to miss so many food photos this day! I promise I will make up for it at dinner. As we passed through France, I got more topiary photos. This time it was the characters of Beauty and the Beast.
Another set of favorite topiaries comes in the United Kingdom. It’s so cool how Peter Pan is on top of the building.
I also got Winnie the Pooh and the characters of 100 Acres Wood while in the UK as I totally missed these on our first Epcot day.
Just outside of Canada I got Bambi, Thumper, and Flower.

Hang on, let me get this right - this year they have Rabbit, as well as Tigger and Pooh, but still no Eeyore? Unbelievable... my poor donkey, no wonder he's miserable all the time.
Great photos of all the topiaries, sorry about the passport. I hope there will be more food photos in future instalments?

Look back at the pictures. You will find Eeyore with Piglet on his back . This shot is between Rabbit and Pooh. So he was not forgotten just sad as usual looking at the ground.
Love the seven dwarf topiary photos! I've always loved the Lady & the Tramp topiaries as well as the Bambi characters - so cute!! Isn't it strange how some of the topiaries have faces, like Snow White, but others (like Belle) don't have a face? The face-less ones are kind of creepy
"Keep in mind that this is bag Check #5 for me. A very sweet CM in security came up to me as I exited the bag check area, telling me I had been identified for further security and would need to follow her up to the scanner. I did wonder how I had been identified, but figured I’d not get a straight answer, so didn’t bother asking. The whole extra security system is a simple process of walking slowly with my arms raised over my head as I walked through the scanner. Immediately afterward, I was cleared to walk around the park. All was still groovy!"
During my week long solo trip over Memorial Day Week, everytime I went through bag check I got the same greeting at all four parks. By the fifth day of my trip I was a pro at it.
I absolutely loved all the topiaries but my favorites were the Peter Pan cast, Winnie the Pooh & Friends and those from Bambi. Thank you for taking all those wonderful shots & sharing them with us.
