Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I forgot to mention this in my last post, but Chad’s cousin just got engaged this past Saturday in front of the castle. I know, it’s kind of cliché because a ton of people get engaged there, but here’s the best part…she is Hope’s godmother and Hope is going to be the flower girl in her Disney Wedding!!! Only immediate family is being invited besides the bridal party, so it’s just another excuse to go back to Disney. I don’t know when this will be since she is still in college and will probably want to finish her studies, but it’s still pretty exciting.

September 23, 2010: Part Two - PS...all photos pre-hotel are from my mom's camera.

There was no one in line at the check in counter, one of the pluses of getting there a bit earlier than needed, and it couldn’t have gone smoother. Both of our suitcases weighed next to nothing since we didn’t have to really pack that much, I even had enough room in mine to pack my very own pillow!!! After the fast check-in we casually walked over to security because there was no one in line there either. Now, I was a little nervous about security again because I had packed two sippy cups for her, one with milk and one with juice, and I wasn’t sure if they were going to allow it. It said on their website that as long as you declare it there shouldn’t be a problem, but I am the unluckiest girl in the world , so I was expecting the worst. The worst being they make me dump it, so really that isn’t technically a “worst” if you were actually trying to pick a “worst” case scenario. Looking back now, there really wasn’t anything to be nervous about, but it all just goes hand in hand with those tummy butterflies.

So with my sippy cups in hand, I told the security guard by the conveyor belt that I had liquids to declare and he couldn’t have been nicer. He said he would have to test them and I would get them back after we made it through to the other side. I think I’m becoming a pro at flying with a baby because it went as smooth as it used to when I traveled by myself. My liquids passed the test and we were getting ourselves back together in no time at all.

We decided that we were hungry so we thought we should find something to eat. I wasn’t going to feed Hope her breakfast yet (I had packed her a meal for the flight) because I planned on feeding her on the plane…at least I knew she would be happily distracted for a minimum of 10 minutes while she stuffed her face. So mom and I set off to find something small since our appetites were still a little sleepy. We were going to get a doughnut at one of the little coffee stands but I noticed a happy little bug taking a stroll on one of them, and then I wasn’t so hungry for a doughnut anymore.

With that it was off to McD’s (not a fan, but desperate times call for a little bit of grease) so we headed in that direction. We were standing at a little map of the airport when all of a sudden a see a man squat down next to Hope and whisper “hello” in her ear. At first I was in shock that a perfect stranger would do something like that, but after a second went by I realized it was Chad’s uncle…remember it was still early and I guess I wasn’t fully awake yet. This is the uncle Chad actually works for, so he is a very close member of the family. He was traveling with his wife, and his wife’s sister and her husband to California and we all happened to be at the same place at the same time. We chatted for a bit and then they had to be on their way to catch their flight that was leaving in 45 minutes.

Then we headed over to finally get our breakfast. I completely forgot that they sold fruit and yogurt parfaits, so that’s what my mom and I got. You would think this would be the quickest thing for them to ring up, I mean all they have to do is grab it out of the fridge and hand it to you, but not at this airport. I think my mom was in line for 10 minutes, with Hope running back and forth between me at the table and her at the counter.

When my mom finally came over to sit down, she told me the girl at the register rang her up and told her to wait over to the side. After my mom had been waiting for about 5 minutes, and a few people with bigger orders had been taken care of, she asked a guy behind the counter what was taking so long. He said it was up to the cashier to get the parfaits out of the fridge. My mom tells him that the cashier never gave her anything, so he tells the girl to do it. She looks at him, and continues to just stand there with her hand on her hip. My mom tells him that if someone doesn’t get it for her she’s going to get it herself, so finally the man (who we think was the manager) walks over to the fridge and grabs our food. Nothing was said to the girl, and she continued to stand there with her hand on her hip. Seriously? What is it with people working in the airport food industry??? It’s just bad.

Our delicious parfait

After we finished eating (Hope helped us as well) we had some time to hit the ladies room, and then we had to go down to our gate and wait to be called to board. I figured we’d have some time to let Hope run around and burn off some energy, but once we got down to our gate they were calling the A boarding group to line up! Talk about perfect timing. We left our stroller right outside of the gate and boarded the plane. Now, the last time we did this a flight attendant asked who left strollers outside of the plane and we were given a ticket for when we got off, so I didn’t think anything of it until they were shutting the doors. I started to panic because without that stroller we were in big trouble. My mom told me not to worry and called one of the flight attendants over. I have to say Southwest has some of the nicest crew I’ve ever flown with, but not this time…no this time we had the pleasure of encountering Miss Not-So-Thrilled-To-Be-Flying-With-You-Today-So-Enjoy-Your-Trip.

“We just wanted to let you know that we left a stroller outside of the door. They are going to stow that right?” My mom politely inquires.

“Umm…that’s what they usually do.” Said Miss Someone-Pee’d-In-My-Wheaties-This-Morning.

I decided to help my mom out, “Well, last time they gave me a tag when I gate checked it, so I just wanted to make sure since that didn’t happen this time.”

“It’s been taken care of.” And with that she grabbed a six pack, inflated the emergency slide and high-tailed it off the plane! Oh, wait a second, I’m getting my stories mixed up …no, she just walked away in a huff and we just sat there giggling about how she was THAT woman this morning, with a capital B. I told my mom that if our stroller wasn’t on the plane I was going after little Miss Pissy Pants and she was going to definitely want a six pack after I got through with her.

We finally tried to settle in and keep Hope occupied by showing her things out the window.

You'll notice in a lot of pictures that Hope likes to play with her hair

She was more interested in the magazines and evacuation card in the seat pocket. Before we knew it we were taking off and Hope was enjoying the milk I gave her to suck down so her ears wouldn’t pop. I had planned on giving her the breakfast I had packed once we were able to put our tray tables down, but as soon as she finished her milk, she put her head down on my chest and fell asleep. I decided that I liked her thinking, so I decided to close my eyes as well.

Just thought I'd share with you all how much I hate this picture!

We slept for a while, and woke up with about 45 minutes left in the flight, so as soon as she was fully awake I gave her her breakfast and juice. It was almost time to start our descent, and that’s when we smelled it. Yes, the IT that I didn’t want to smell while crammed on a plane with other people. We needed to change her as quickly as possible because soon they were going to put the “fasten seat belt” sign on and we wouldn’t be able to walk around. Since my mom was sitting in the middle seat she generously offered to take Hope to the tiny little changing area up front. Isn’t that what grandmother’s are for? I mean, they don’t get to enjoy the whole baby experience 24/7 so when they have the opportunity they give it 100%. Love it! Hope and my mom both came back a little bit happier, and I’m sure everyone else sitting near us felt the same way.

We landed without any trouble and made our way off of the airplane. Mom was a little bit ahead of me and once I exited I saw her standing right outside the door looking around. Then I noticed my stroller was missing, and the first thing out of my mouth was, “Where’s my stroller?” There were other strollers there, but not mine, and the next thing I wanted to do was march my butt right back on that plane and strangle that flight attendant!

Up Next: You’re room’s ready but…

OMG...............are you sure you weren't flying JetBlu??? Too funny. If this helps, everytime we get to our gate we always go up to the employees at the desk and ask for our gate check card, just so we have it already. Also this time we got the big red GATE CHECK stroller bag. It was super easy to find our stroller once getting off the flight.

What is it with gram-moms wanting to always change the stinky diaper??My mom jumps on the chance, and I say...........have fun with it!!!

Oh no! I hope your stroller shows up! Other than the not-so-friendly flight attendant it sounds like your flight went rather smooth. Can't wait for more!

What a great update! I loved some of your descriptions of the snippy flight attendant. I hope your stroller shows up, but if it doesn't, I'm sure I'll enjoy the story of how you took care of the flight attendant

Glad the security check at the airport went smoothly and the flight was uneventful (except for that unhappy attendant and the stinky diaper).
