We were inspired by Samantha Brown's Carnival cruise so away we go! - Page 32 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hey I'm back with a second and final update to the day and to the TR
Part Two: The "not so lazy" river.....and the rest of the story!
So, we find a locker and changing rooms. We change and put sunscreen on and lock our things away. As with most places the locker key fit around my wrist.
We decided to start from here and try out different water park things we had seen. The closest to us was a River Rapids....the guy said it was like a lazy river : ohhhh nooo it was not "like" a lazy river at all It was like a raging rampids on a water tube!
So here is the entry point
We took this one and only picture because that's about all you can get. We put our camera in the locker because it was not waterproof but it wouldnt have helped.
We decided to load on a two person tube. I decided since I cannot swim well at all that Eric would lock my feet under his arms. We really didn't think it would matter all that much but in the end it saved me from being overturned into the water.
You get on what looks like a lazy river and then all of a sudden you turn this corner and they are releasing 5 to 8 foot waves!! Then it turns into a Raging rampid situation. It was the MOST FUN EVER!!!! wooooooooooo hooooooooo
We had a an absolute blast and the waves continue to push you along the way. Now, Eric's mom was on a single person innertube and she flipped when they released the waves typical right??
We were laughing our butts off at her.....it was quite hilarious but she said it was so hard to get back on that raft once that happened.
It winds around for a while and we did get some rub burns on our legs and feet but it was totally worth it! YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS ONCE!!
Because of our limited time we decided to not ride it a second time but wish we had now!
This was one of the many pools and my fave themed one
This was one of the beaches
I will say that we have only those few pics of this part of our trip at this resort. We mostly waded in the pools and walked around and looked at all the beaches, pools and slides. Then Eric rode the tallest slide there. It was the one on the commercials where you climb a pyramid and its a straight down drop into a shark tank and out into a little pool. He said it was AMAZING!!
He said it did scare him to death at first but it was worth it....this was one of those moments when you wish you had a picture but we did not have the camera.
With about two hours to go after walking around and doing the pool stuff for awhile we decided to put our clothes back on and head around to take pics and look inside.
We went back to the lockers where there are rooms for you to change and bathrooms to freshen up.
We turned in the key and headed out to take pics.
This is the first pic of us heading into the main hotel portion on the bridge heading over
One of the many pools
I really like this pic
Such a great shot that he got here
This was a really cool fountain with some manmade metal animals of sorts
Here is a look at the pools that are the aquariums that are inside the hotel
We decided to head inside to go the aquarium portion of the hotel
The aquarium was limited entry by bands and ours let us right in
These were actually really cool and the theming was much like in the way Disney would theme a resort around water...I was really impressed!
Here are some of the pics from the aquarium
This is Eric's mom looking in
Fish are friends not food
LOVE this picture of the jellyfish!
This is heading back out of the aquarium into the hotel
Looking back down
We headed back outside to look at the fountains around the hotel
We decided to head back in and look around at the shops. We bought a few souvies and they had some really nice souvies there!
We then decided we had about 40 mins or so and decided to find a bar in the casino area for a quick FAB
This oversized chair is in the area around the casino and Eric had to have his pic there
A cool art fixture in the casino
the bar
We decided to head out of the hotel and get on our free bus transport back to downtown Nassau to get back onto the boat!
We got on the bus with no issues and it was leaving within minutes after we arrived. It was about a 5 minute or so ride back and we still had over an hour before we had to board the ship.
We decided to explore in town right around the ship which BTW there is a ALOT to explore within walking distance of the ship!
We had been told this place was horrid for the people hounding you but we had no issues with this today!
When we got back into Nassau we took a few pics on our way around downtown
We then went in search of the Tortuga Rum Factory Store. Along the way we expected to be hounded relentlessly by store owners but we were pleasantly surprised that they didn't bother us at all which was wonderful!
We soon found the Rum store and we took a pic of Eric on our way in
They bought a few bottles of rum and we decided it was time to head back. It was a bit of a walk on the way back and I'm glad we got started. We got back to the ship within about 10-15 minutes. The ship was to set sail not much longer after we boarded the ship.
Here is a pic getting on the boat and almost all the other boats were already gone...
Here is the last dinner pic of the trip
We spent most of the night finalizing the packing. We kept out a carryon bag for the night stuff and that was it!
We headed down to dinner at our usual time and dinner was very good as it had been the whole trip!
We skipped the final show tonight because we needed to set our suitcases out. We set them out around 1130 pm and decided to head to bed because we had to get up early the next day!
Deembarkation Day: April 4th, Sunday,
We were so close to here that we must have got into port around 1am. We woke up around 7am and had breakfast delievered for the last time at 7am!
We ate breakfast and then showered and got dressed. We were ready by 830am. We had chosen to not carry our bags off ourselves so we had to wait until our deck was called.
We were called down around 9am. It took us an hour from the time we were called off the ship, down to customs, go through customs and then we had to get our suitcases. WHICH BY THE WAY, they lost one of Eric's parents suitcases but after much looking we finally located it in the wrong section JUST FYI!! just in case this happens to you!
We had a porter take our luggage out to the curb where he helped us load it in the car that Eric and his dad brought around.
We quickly loaded up and were heading out around 10am ish....
Now we have never come back on Sunday we usually come back saturday but this was a longer trip and we really liked that Extra day
