A Spring Adventure: Wilderness, Flowers, and the Force (with Cam and Luke) PTR Updated 5/22 - Page 31 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just caught up. Enjoy your trip. I must suggest you try two things that we really enjoyed on our visit earlier this month.
Florida Fresh - Watermelon passion fruit slush featuring Simply Lemonade®
Lotus House - Beijing-style candied strawberries (Vegetarian)
My husband is still talking about the strawberries.
We also really loved the Frozen desert violet lemonade featuring Simply Lemonade (nonalcoholic) from Pineapple Promendade. It was very very PURPLE, but tasted so good.
I know I'm a bit strange, but I do not like watermelon nor strawberries. So I skipped over everything with those. But Luke may very well pick those as he loves both. Now the Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade does sound interesting to me as I love pineapple.

Luke and I are thinking if we like the F&GF as much as we think we will, we'll probably head back for it again next year, too.
Love the SWW plans....I am hoping visiting on Friday brings you some luck with a great spot for the parade and show.
I love the menu lately from HBD - we almost booked it this year but I was out voted (Mama Melrose won), I love it there as well so not two dissappointed but there were a few interesting choices on the HBD menu that I would have loved to try.
Mark Hamil - thanks a big deal. Usually they don't have starts from too many films a lot from the cartoons.
Of course I haven't had lunch yet so now I'm staving after reading all the yummy things you want to try - thanks Cam!
We aren't in to the cartoons so that is why I usually don't care to meet the celebrities. But Mark Hamill would have been exciting. Sorry I made you hungry.

We like Mama Melrose's, too, but canceled it to eat at Artist Point.

I had thought when I first looked over the list that there weren't as many dishes I was interested in as for the F&WF. But as I typed it up, I realized there really is a lot I'd like to sample.

Just got caught up!!
The food selection for F&GF look fantastic. Can't wait to read about how everything taste.
Although I'm not a huge Star Wars fan, my DS and DH are. So when I told DS that Mark Hamill was coming this year to WDW during SWW, he was even more upset he scheduled his trip this year for April, not June. (He forgot there was a SWW in May). Oh well....there is always next year.
Great plans for SWW! What a bummer that you will miss Mark Hamill! I've only been to one SWW, way back in 2003. The only activity I did was watch the parade, but I was excited to see Anthony Daniels and Billy Dee Williams in the parade.
Back in mid-January Luke was reading through several e-mails, one of which was to various bargains on the web, when he noticed a great deal on Brooks Pure Flow 2 running shoes from the Finish Line. I remember Luke asking if my favorite running shoes were Brooks, and then what size I wore. He even showed me the shoes, and I liked the colors (white, blue, and lime green). But at the time I didn’t have the $34.98 (with tax and shipping $42.90), so I figured it ended there. But Luke could tell I really liked them, and felt $34.98 for $100 shoes was too good a deal to pass up. The next week I had the cutest pair of light and airy running shoes I’ve ever had. On the warm days this month, we’ve been walking, so I’ve added these to the rotation to get them broken in before Disney. A good thing that I did this, too, as the first day I got blisters on the backs of my ankles.
Last Friday when I got back from my hair appointment, I asked Luke if we could go to Evansville as I had some really good coupons for Banana Republic Factory Outlet, Victoria’s Secret, and Gap. I had also realized at the end of last summer that some of my shorts needed to be replaced. We left early enough to eat lunch at Rafferty’s before shopping began. The first stop was Banana Republic as I have had the best luck here recently. I tried on quite a bit, but didn’t end up liking how most of it looked on me. But I did purchase a pair of khaki shorts and a pair of denim shorts. I also got a lime green dressier tank top and a lime green t-shirt with sequins that just seems like Tinker Bell. Luke found a long sleeve green checked shirt that he said looked like me, so I picked it up along with a long sleeve white tee as my old one has been worn so many times. Luke even found one monkey logo t-shirt for himself. With my extra 40% off even sale prices of 50 – 60% off and another bargain from Luke (a $50 gift card bought at $35), I ended up paying only $32.24 for all 7 items. Score!
From there we moved to the mall and started with Victoria’s Secret where I got several unmentionables as my Granny called them and a pair of summer weight pajamas. I even got a cute navy t-shirt free for trying on some of the wares. I did have two coupons for $10 each and then two more for some free panties. But this shopping spree was my most expensive. Thank goodness I only shop here twice a year.
Gap was at the other end of the mall so we walked off a bit of lunch at this point. Here I found another pair of denim shorts (Gap’s 1969 denim that I love) and a pair of boyfriend roll up shorts in gray. I only liked one summer top at this point, a white long tank with navy stitching. Then I saw this long sleeve light weight gingham shirt in yellow that I couldn’t leave without. Luke only found three pairs of socks, and I had to pick them all out for him. I had a 40% coupon off for here as well. I was supposed to my reward dollars here, but it slipped my mind. As Luke and I were walking to Game Stop I pulled out the receipt to see why I had paid double what I thought I should have. That’s how I realized I had forgotten my reward dollars, all $60. (I’ve been saving them up.) While Luke looked at Game Stop, I went back to see what could be done. The cashier was so sweet and quickly had the $60 taken off my credit card.
A day or so later I was reading the boards when I saw a thread about wearing dresses at the parks. I had mentioned to Luke that I wouldn’t mind wearing some dresses if I found the right ones. I had gone to Old Navy’s website because of a 30% e-mail they sent me. I found the cutest little tank dresses that had originally been $29.99 that were on sale for $18. With the 30% off that made each $12.60. Not bad! I ordered two (one black and one sunkissed lime), and they arrived yesterday. Very nice fit and quite comfortable.
I might buy one more tank dress, but I want to look over what I already have that will still work. I just haven’t pulled out my spring and summer clothes yet as we are still dealing with some cold days here with snow predicted for Tuesday. I already have a couple of new and as yet unworn t-shirts I bought at WDW in October that will be making the May trip. The only thing I know I still need is several pairs of socks. Still too early to get the suitcases out, but at least I know I have apparel to put in when I do.
Great bargain shopping! I'm so ready for winter to end that I pulled out capris to wear to work today. I'm so tired of the heavy and dark winter clothes. We are supposed to get snow tonight.
The one stand you mentioned you couldn't find anything? My mom just told me a new restAraunt by the same name as that stand is opening by her. Wonder if they are the same?
