Who's Ready For An Awesome August Adventure?! August 2014 PTR - Page 30 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ahhhh, you're so close! What's going on over there? Is packing done, or in full swing still?!
So - I had a very eventful few days this past weekened. We have a last minute addition to our trip. My sister Casey is going to be coming with us now! We are all really excited. It's always really fun when she comes with us, and now we have an Alice to go with our Queen of Hearts and Ace of Hearts for the Halloween party.
It's been really nerve wracking trying to get everything added and set up for her last minute though... any TA tips that you can give me are appreciated! I keep feeling like I am forgetting something! I added her to the reservation, ordered her a MB, added her to our ADR (luckily there was only 1 lol) and I need to get her tickets bought so I can book her FP's. I'm sure there aren't any 7DMR (I just made that acronym up ) FP's left, but I have no clue how to "add" her onto the rest of our FP's, or if I need to book her seperately and hope for overlapping times? Or I guess we could cancel ours, and then rebook with all of us... IDK.This is what's confusing the crap out of me.
I've been feeling the same way. Super nervous to acclimate myself to the wall of humidity down in Florida. I can't believe it's mid August and I've been sleeping with my windows open. It feels like October!
YAYYYYY! I'm so glad you love it! Yes, Jason and Cortney are the CUTEST. I love their interactions so much. I also can't wait to see how it ends up for Jamie and Doug. I wasn't sure, but now I think they may just make it
Packing is just about done!! The kids are complaining that all their favorite clothes are packed and they "have nothing to wear"!!
Just some last minute things to throw in!
That's awesome that your sister can go with you again! Getting her FP's is going to be the only tricky part. It sounds like you have everything else under control. You may just have to do it one day at a time. There may be days where you can just do hers alone and get them to match up with yours. Other days that may not work, you may have to cancel yours and do them all together. I would do it sooner rather than later!!
I know, this weather up here is crazy! I was wearing jeans last week. Ridiculous!

So what's up with the Typhoon Lagoon doubting? What's causing you second thoughts? Are you not much of a water person? For some reason I'm sensing that. Now I'm worried that you won't like it. By the way, I saw that walmart has their water shoes on clearance for $3.

So what time is your flight?
IDK!! We don't spent a ton of time in the water, being that it is cold a good part of the year here. But we all love the pool on vacation!! I guess I'm just worried that it will be a hectic day. Still not sure if we should get a locker, how much stuff to take, if we leave our stuff on a chair, do we haul our stuff around the park, it looks so big!!! Ugh! IDK.

We never get a locker when we go to water parks or pools, we just leave our stuff on a chair minus our valuables. I wouldn't bring phones or wallets... IDK if there's enough time, or if you could find it in stores nearby - but Bob and I bought this thing when we were going on our cruise. It was awesome for a debit card and maybe some cash.
Well.... the park isn't that big as far as walking goes. Remember to use the lazy river to get around. And I wouldn't use a locker. Leave your valuables in the room and leave your bag on a chair. I think it will be fine. I still think you should try it. Every trip needs something new to do to keep it exciting. And who knows, you might find that you have a new favorite activity, especially your boys. And you might as well go on and try it because you know you are going to keep booking the Labor Day special with the free bonus ticket. That way you will have better knowledge of the water parks also for all your clients. You really have nothing to lose since it's free anyway. Just my very pushy two cents worth though.

So it was Disney talk non-stop around here all weekend of course!
Here are the things we are most looking forward to on this trip:
DH loves to get up early before the rest of us and take an early morning walk around the resort and get a coffee and cinnamon roll!
DS15 is most looking forward to getting mini-corndogs at Casey's Corner! (they were closed the last time we were there)
DS12 is really looking forward to staying at the BWI again! He loves everything about the resort. He is really looking forward to having a water view this time.
I am looking forward to many things of course! At the top of my list is not having to cook for 9 days!! And family time, being away from the stress of everyday life, having fun at the parks, relaxing at the resorts, etc. I am really looking forward to a special treat we are doing this time - renting a cabana at the GF!

I know, I just need to bite the bullet and give it a try. I can just see us being tired and needing a rest day and saying - we'll do it next time!! We'll see. Hopefully we will go!!
You are right - it is good knowledge & experience to have to share with my clients!

I have to agree with your dh. Taking an early morning stroll around the resort before everyone gets up is a favorite of mine too. I'm not out for coffee though. I'm always taking pictures! Everyone else's ideas sound good too though. I love thinking about all those things right before a trip.

Me too! Especially at the Boardwalk. I walked down and took pictures at sunrise, and it was awesome because it was so peaceful. Plus, all the runners made me want to go work out. I didn't, but I thought about it....

He used to be bummed that no one else wanted to get up with him for a stroll at 6 or 7am! But one time I told him to just go enjoy the quiet alone time and take his time. He has loved it ever since!! He loves getting his coffee and cinnamon bun. I'd rather be sleeping! Sometimes DS12 will go with him. He's a morning person like DH!
It's so fun these days leading up to the trip and the first day - when everything is ahead of you!!
