Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I didn't realize the NWJ was so big! Now that I think about it, I understand where the name comes from. See, no matter how many times I dye my hair red, the blonde keeps showing!

B&C is definitely a family favorite. We all ice cream (DN was shocked when DB passed on the ice cream). And speaking of DB, he's been complaining about "middle child syndrome" for as long as I can remember, so I think he'll agree with you.

There is no such thing as a small sundae at B&C. They come in large, ginormous and the Kitchen Sink.

She is a nice mom when she's not making me ride Maelstrom and buying me liquor. It's just when she steals my candy.

Just got caught up on your TR...I'm really enjoying your pictures because I've never been to WDW while the Halloween decorations are up. The whole place is really neat. I especially liked the pics from the MNSSHP. Thanks for sharing.

Your mom is too funny about her candy! She is a candy-eating machine, I tell you!

Sad to see that your TR is almost over...at least we have another one to look forward to real soon!

Day Five – Tuesday, September 30
Walking onto Soarin’ and F&WF Round 4

Mable’s Sweet Tip: It’s important to have fruit every day. Good choices include strawberries (dipped in chocolate) or apples (dipped in caramel).

As usual, I was up before the wakeup call this morning. I packed up my stuff and when the wakeup call came, I put it on speaker. Unfortunately, we didn’t get Stitch & Mickey, just silence. DM was disappointed so I told her to “Get moving!” in the worst Stitch voice you’ve ever (well, never, since you weren’t there) heard!

Once DM was all packed up, we called to have our bags stored. I pressed the speed dial for Bell Services and got the business center or something and had to be transferred again. Our phone was wacky!

We stored our bags and headed to our final park. I’d planned all along that we’d do EMH at Epcot this morning, but our afternoon park was up in the air. DM decided that she’d like to spend the afternoon at Epcot. We were planning to walk, but again, the boat was waiting, so we hopped on. We actually should’ve walked because there was a boat sitting at the dock blocking us, so we had to wait for them to unload and then another boat came from out of nowhere (like from the WS lagoon ) and we had to wait for them to unload and get out of the way too! Sheesh! We definitely should’ve walked.

The little crowd by the entrance had cleared out a bit after our docking delay, so we were able to get right in. DM has learned to be more like me and had no bags today. We knew if the standby line for Soarin’ was too long, we’d be fine with FPs, so we took a somewhat leisurely pace.

I picked up Eileen’s habit of listening to the conversations of those nearby (and DM too, since we were both chuckling at the family behind us). The man was clearly miffed at his companions for being soooooo slow (but not really – I think he wanted to run or something). His wife (I assume she was his wife by the way she completely ignored him ) and daughter stopped to take pictures and stuff while he complained. Finally, the wife told him to chill out, it would be just like yesterday morning when they walked onto Everest. When we got to FW, they went to the right, so he was probably rushing to get them on TT or M:S, which they would actually walk right on. I’m sure he heard an “I told you so.”

Even after our leisurely pace, there was still no wait at Soarin’. I mean no wait. We walked right on. Yes, a walk on. In fact, the CMs were only filling the front row. A few people arrived to sit in the second row, but only in the middle section. The outer sections of the second row and the entire third row (all three sections) were empty! I’ve never seen that before. In fact, morning EMH is usually pretty crowded. We weren’t complaining, though. We had almost the exact center in the front row and we both really loved it as usual. (Soarin’ is DMs favorite – she can’t do thrill rides anymore, so this is as close as she can get to a thrill ride anymore.)

After our ride on Soarin’ we picked up FPs for later (after all, the wait was probably about 10 minutes by then). We decided to fill our bellies before doing anything else. And since it was right there, we went with Sunshine Seasons.

DM had the kids’ French toast while I got the oatmeal. We both enjoyed our food. Once we’d finished eating, we decided to do LWTL, which was another walk on. I was really surprised at how light the crowds were.

It was time to use our Soarin’ FPs, and we walked right on with them. The standby by this time was a good 20 minutes. Still not bad at all, especially considering the park was open to everyone by this point.

Next up was The Seas.

DM really thought the Nemo part was cute (she’d ridden it before, but somehow we’d never discussed her opinion of it). I really wanted her to see Turtle Talk since she’d never seen that before, so we headed there. We’d just missed a show, so we popped over to see the manatees for a few minutes instead.

Sorry my pics came out so stinky. My camera wasn’t happy that day, I guess. Anyway, we headed in and caught the next show of Turtle Talk, and Mom really loved it. It was a particularly funny show this time. Crush asked a little girl if she came with someone and she said yes. Then after a long pause, he was like “do you know who they are?” Then there was a little girl named Dory, and Crush’s reaction to that was priceless.

I love how it’s always somewhat different every show, even though the basic show is the same. It’s much more varied than the Monsters Inc. show (at least in my opinion).

After that, we checked out the dolphins, and they were really playful.

Again, sorry for the stinky pics. We spent a good little while in there. When we’d had our fill of that, I asked DM what else she wanted to do in FW. She was ready to head to WS (I wonder why ) I wanted her to check out the new SE and she agreed (I think she’d forgotten about everything in FW because she enjoys SE).

When we came out of the Seas, it was raining, but not enough to even put our ponchos on (well, I had mine, DM didn’t so it’s a good thing it was only a very slight drizzle). There was a line for SE (only about 5 minutes though). We decided to take a trip to space this time. Our pictures were a little funky, but we both got a laugh (particularly DM when she saw the doofy face I made for the camera )

After the ride, we played in the Project Tomorrow area. We sent an email postcard to a few people.

My expression still makes me laugh. Sending the email is what made us show up on the big screens. We were like celebrities and junk.

We didn’t have any more excuses to stay in FW, so we headed out. We were happy to see it wasn’t raining (even the little bit it had been) and we strolled over to WS, but stopped first at Club Cool. I always hope that DM will forget about the Beverly so I can get her to try it again, but she never does. Dang!

Our first stop in WS was Athens, Greece. I was disappointed here as I had been in Italy with the ordinary choices, but that didn’t stop us from eating it.

Greek Salad $2.75

Yes, a Greek salad. Could they be less imaginative. But you know what? That salad was delish! We also got an old favorite (that’s been a choice at the F&WF since I’ve been going – at least 5 years I think). But it’s one of my favorites, so I can’t complain too much.

Spanakopita (savory spinach and cheese pastry) $3.50

We didn’t see anything else that we felt like eating right then until we got to Boston. Well, that’s not really true. I couldn’t pass up another KG, my third of the trip.

And then, Boston.

Boston Crab Cake with corn and barley salad $4.00

Loved that. We both did, actually. While we were in the area, the Fife & Drum Corps had a performance. I really enjoy them.

I was happy to see that we were right on time for a performance of the Voices of Liberty.

It wasn’t until I was uploading this picture for the TR that I realized that the person sitting right in front of me looked an awful lot like Angie (poohsgirl). I PM’d her about it to see if it actually was her. If it is, I’m amazed that she was three feet in front of me and I didn’t know it. I would’ve loved to hang out with her a bit (and we could’ve used her help with the F&WF offerings ).

After the VOL (which was awesome, as usual) DM and I stayed for the American Adventure. DM was worrying about getting back to the BWI in time for our DME pickup, but I assured her we had plenty of time. Also, it’s because we were right near Italy, and I had a hankerin’ for something (which may or may not be what you’re thinking ).

I had a wonderful CM at the Bologna kiosk, and she must’ve recognized me, because when I ordered she asked me “nothing sweet?” DM wanted the pizza again and I needed to try their FB.

Sausage Pizza $4.50

Virgin Primavera (strawberry and white peach nectar cocktail) $3.50

The Virgin Primavera was really good. I let DM have some and she liked it so much she wanted one of her own. When I got back on line for it, I couldn’t resist and had to get the creampuffs again (for the third time )

Cream Puff with Mascarpone and Gianduja Chocolate $3.50

The CM giggled when she realized I was back for dolce as she called it. DM was getting nervous, so she wanted to head back to the BWI. Even after 4 trips around the WS, there’s a lot of stuff I wanted to try that we missed. But some of that had to do with eating a few of my favorites more than once, and also eating non F&WF stuff.

We took our time leaving the park, enjoying our last few minutes. Again, a boat was waiting, so we never got to walk. DM told me she was glad she’d joined DVC because she was spoiled now and didn’t want to stay at the values anymore (or even worse the Loserville timeshare – which is actually perfectly nice).

Back at the BWI, DM pulled up a rocking chair while I went around snapping pictures. I’m not sure I said how much I enjoyed the BWI, but I really did love it.

After my photo tour, I pulled up a rocking chair next to DM and enjoyed the view.

After a while, we decided to head out front near the DME bus stop. It was then that I remembered the package at the gift shop that hadn’t arrived the day before. I’m glad I remembered (though I’m sure they would’ve just shipped it home to me). Before long, our DME bus arrived and we were headed to the airport.

While on the bus, it looked like a storm was rolling in.

And in fact, it began to pour just as we arrived at the airport. We were happy that it hadn’t rained during our trip and the torrential rain didn’t even last long – it had stopped when we arrived at our gate and the weather was clear until we took off.

We both had McDonalds for dinner and as expected our flight wasn’t full at all. It was a quiet flight and mostly smooth, and we were home before we knew it (25 minutes early).

Your pictures from Spaceship Earth are killing me Sharon! Although, I think it's the juxtaposition of the ginormous bite marks in your heads (and what's up with the big ol' hole in your Mom's head, that had to hurt) and your doofy smile that's killing me. It's kind of like Lobotomy Sharon! You kill me!

Love the pictures of the Food & Wine festival; particularly the crab cake that had me licking my screen. And, that one shot of the balcony at the Boardwalk? Purrr-fection! Looking forward to your final thoughts, and REALLY, REALLY looking forward to Saturday!

Finally all caught up and sorry to hear this TR is about over . Thanks for letting us join you on this trip! I really enjoyed all of the laughs (I got a rock - - I'm always quoting that one!).

I know there is a TR or two coming around the corner, can't wait for them!

This is exactly like the end of our trip in September.
And in fact, it began to pour just as we arrived at the airport. We were happy that it hadn’t rained during our trip and the torrential rain didn’t even last long – it had stopped when we arrived at our gate and the weather was clear until we took off.

Good times....that's what you two gals had! Thanks for sharing.
