As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I'm sorry you had to change your plans. The time thing is one problem I'm having with my Europe trip - there are so many places that don't open until 10AM! I'm a teacher so I am up at 5 and lunch is 10:30 which means not site seeing until almost lunch time! Granted on non work days I have lunch later but still. At least you already have a back up plan.
I am a 5am riser too! It does make it a bit challenging on vacation, hence why I am going through all our plans to verify operating hours. We will probably be the first to arrive at most everything.
I did call Crazy Horse on Tuesday and the woman I spoke with wasn't very helpful as far as giving an advise about as to when we should arrive for the Night Blast. I guess that is because if we want to, we could arrive early (pay regular admission costs) and stay for the blast. Or if we want to pay just the food donation we need to arrive after 7pm. She did tell me an important piece of information--the blast isn't until 10pm. So arriving at 7pm will give us several hours until the blast. I did check their website and it looks like all the exhibit buildings are open late (as they normally have a laser show at 10pm) and it should be light out when we arrive, so we may use that time to experience everything and opt out of going back on Thursday morning. Then on Thursday morning we can do a hike or scenic drive in Custer SP with plans to go back on Saturday to do some more there as the $20 entrance fee covers 7 days.
Sent a facebook message to my nephew last night confirming that he will be able to dog sit for us as I had asked him about it several months ago and his response was "What?" Gonna have to call over there today and get that straightened out.

Apparently, my twenty-something nephew doesn't remember either of the times I talked to him about this trip/dog sitting but is able/willing to help us out.
Our 11yr old dog was very lethargic yesterday so we got him over to the vet--they did xrays and didn't notice any new forming stones, which is good. They took blood and urine so we will wait for those results. Also gave him some subcutaneous fluids, so that was another hefty vet bill. I think after our SD trip we will be taking a vacation break to recover our finances.

Lab results show our dog Chewy has anemia, so they are doing a second test to see if he is producing red blood cells. Other reasons for the anemia could be his body is destroying the red blood cells or there is internal blood loss...
So sorry about the blood results on your furbaby. It is so hard to deal with the variables when they can't tell us exactly what is wrong. Pixies that the vet can determine the cause and help your sweet pup.
Hope all goes well with your doggie and the vets can help him/her out!

Oh, thanks to everyone for the prayers and pixie dust!! We got the second lab results yesterday that showed Chewy is producing, so the vet suggested an ultrasound to see what was going on. Unfortunately, the location that has the radiology department was booked for Monday and Tuesday, but you could try to get in thru an ER visit....So that is what we did. They were very busy which can make Chewy very anxious with all the other dogs around and he tends to whiny nonstop. When the tech came out to do a triage, Chewy's heart rate was very high and when she mentioned that to the vet, he was rushed in for a quick Ultrasound to make sure he wasn't bleeding inside. Thankfully that wasn't the case, so he was brought back out to us to wait for a proper exam. The vet suggested we go forward with a full ultrasound, xray his chest and redo the labs to see if his anemia number had changed. She told us that the Radiology department wouldn't be able to do his tests for a few hours, so we left and they would call us back once everything was done.
Well, we didn't even get home (this ER vet is about 30 mins+ from us) and the vet called back that his anemia seemed to be gone. It was either a lab error or possible a gastric ulcer that resolved it self, so we opted not to do the US or Xrays for now. We are monitoring him at home. His appetite seems to be improving, which is good too.
