Feelin’ Groovy: A Cam and Luke TR Completed 7/31 - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Signing on. Sounds like a good start to your trip (except for the windshield crack). That's my biggest fear about driving down -that something will happen to the car on the way down and it will interfere with my getting to Disney. Well, that and being in the car for 24 hours of drive time . Glad it didn't slow you down and was easily fixed when you got home.
Love your title! When I was in grade school we sang some Simon & Garfunkel songs at our concerts as well!
Great travel day! Except for the windshield. Glad it's all fixed!
Thanks! I was actually having trouble coming up with a title when I remembered this song running through my head.

Love the trails you get to walk - so very jealous. What are your winters like? I really need to move somewhere that has little to no winter .... hate the cold.
Unfortunately, it does get cold in the winter in northwestern Kentucky. Highs can be anywhere from the 20s - 40s. We do get snow, and the past few years, we've had a bit more than usual, even though temperature wise it was milder than usual.

Great start, well apart from the windshield that is.
That appendectomy really changed the whole tone and feel of this trip.
Great start to your trip, and I love the green belt what a nice place to walk.
One of our former mayors came up with the idea for the Greenbelt, and it has been added to over the years. In fact they are working on an expansion right now. I truly appreciate it as it gives us such wonderful places to walk.

Such a bummer about your wind shield, but at least it was fixed quickly!
Dinner sounded delicious...I wish every Mother's Day I'd be headed to Disney World .
I'm so excited to hear more about your "feelin groovy' trip!!
I'm actually hoping that next year we'll be in Disney for Mother's Day, so I could dine at one of my favorite places.
So excited for another Cam and Luke TR!! Sorry about your windshield
Thanks for that excitement! I'm excited to share the trip with all of you.

You know of course, I "sang" the song as I read it!!
Terry and I love Outback. He's more of the steak eater, I'm the chicken fan. (Not crazy about steaks...) Anyway....
Can't wait to read more of this groovy trip report!!!
I thought a few of you all would be singing with me. You and Terry are just the opposite of Luke and me. He usually orders the chicken. I really keep my intake of red meat low, and usually choose chicken, except at Outback and a few places at Disney where I can get a steak done right.

Thank you! Your trip is getting so much closer, too.
I love to read your reports. Your ability to keep up with the journals is an envious talent. I always start and then by the second or third day I can't even find the journal. Looking forward to reading more. I was glad to read that the windshield did not cause you any problems.
Your beautiful greenway would make anyone want to walk. Hope being outside helps you with your recovery. Judy seems to always get sick when we are on vacation (stuffy head, cough, chest congestion). Get well soon.
I have a whole toy box, which my dad redid for me, full of journals. I might be addicted to writing. Walking is much better with beautiful scenery. This is the first time I've gotten a cold while at WDW, and I'm so thankful it waited until the last day. Still working on ridding myself of that cough.

Dinner at Outback sounded delicious!
You have a much further drive than we do. I'm pretty sure I'd be much more reluctant to drive from Chicago to Orlando.

No so groovy as it is named now. We have quite a few roads and streets in Kentucky that are named for folks, too, which has in my opinion taken some of the charm from the names. We laughed when one of our parkways was renamed after a Kentuckian statesman as the GPS kept adding two or three extra middle initials. I don't think it liked the name change either.
Yay! You started your TR. Sorry about your windshield, but I'm glad it's already been fixed.
Your greenway is beautiful! And I'm glad you're feeling better. Coughs can really linger and be such a pain.
I can't wait to read more.
Your are so right about this cough. I had a better day yesterday and started off well today, and then while we were checking out, I had a coughing fit. Now it's persisting again in disrupting life every few minutes.

Hooray you started!!!! Glad the glass was replaced easy peasy. Aside from that sounds like a nice easy first day of driving! We took the I-75 route when we drove in December and I loved it! I find Tennessee mountains to be much easier than West Virginia mountains. Still scary but much easier.
I'm looking forward to more!

Luke and I once took a scenic two lane road through the Smoky Mountains that had me ready to never enter a car again. He, on the other hand, loved every single windy, curvy, steep stretch of road.

Your pics of your walk are beautiful as well! I recently hurt myself & I think I may have heel spurs... I don't see the dr till 6/7 but I'm still trying to walk min. 5 miles a day. So painful!
That has to be painful!

My niece asks Siri what is the genus species of a beagle. She repeats what in the genesis of a bugle. We all start laughing and then she asks what is the genus species of a German Shepherd . She was laughing so if wasn't really clear and then Siri asks - what is a turd bird? We all just busted out laughing. We immediately had to ask - what is a turd bird. Look it up...Urban dictionary). That had to be 6 months ago and we still laugh about it.
I love the greenery where you walk, it's really pretty! I have 'Feeling Groovy" now playing in my head. I didn't need the words because as soon as I read the title that song popped into my head.
I knew some of us would be very familiar with the lyrics, but just in case, I included them. Still one of my favorite songs from way back when.

We just paid off my Edge at the end of March, so I was a little fretful that something would happen to it on the trip. This was actually quite a small deal.
Just caught up with your TR. Absolutely love the little tidbits you throw in. Keeps it so "fresh." Also those hidden Mickey's - awesome!
Sorry to hear that you are still coughing. I'm hoping uou do not get the never ending cold/sinus thing I had - just recently (last few days) have stopped coughing. Started 3 days after Easter so it was nearly 8 weeks. Horrid so hopefully that is not what you end up with. I felt great after a couple days except for the cough that just wouldn't quit.
Thank you for sharing the Greenway pics - is it all paved? Our rails to trails is only cinders so whike it is beautiful ot can be a little annoying.
Yay! Signing in (before it gets too far along!). We drive down 75 too and some of those "hills" can get pretty scary - especially with the big trucks right along side! Sounds like a good ride down though.
I may be following your "slow down - you move to fast. Feeling groovy" attitude for our trip in Sept as Chuck is still not completely recovered. Our whole style will be changed.
As always - I'm coming along for the ride and feeling groovy!
YAY - I was so excited when I signed in this morning and found your TR!!! I love the Groovy theme - it's so perfect. The Outback menu for Mother's Day sure looked delicious! So glad that the trip down so far was uneventful with the exception of the cracked windshield. The Greenbelt pictures of where you do your walks look so relaxing and peaceful. I wish we had a nice walking path such as that near our town! Can't wait to read more. Glad to hear that you're feeling better. Hope your cough goes away soon as I know how annoying those coughs can be when they linger.
Great start. You do such a good job of taking notes. I tried once and just couldn't keep up with it.
The trip down didn't seem too back except for the cracked window. Something like that happened to us. I had just gotten a new car . My daughter and I decide to go to the Pittsburgh Zoo. We had just crossed the state line into Pa. when a stone hit my window and cracked it. It was also an easy fix. They sent someone to the house and replaced it.
Your Mother's day meal ant the Outback looked good. All the desserts sounded good. It would be hard to pick one.
I can't wait to read more.
