As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So the days we have checked off on the calendar are as follows:
Jan 1st thru 7th, 10th, 12th-13th, 30th-31st and Feb 5th
That is a total of 124 items either donated or trashed!!! OMG!!!! Not necessarily big items, but every little bit helps!
I'll be doing more tonight. I am trying to do just 30 minutes or so each day. Seems to be working pretty good so far!

Ginger, I have followed FL for ages, though I don't follow currently. What I love about the web is that there are so many fun communities and rabbit holes to dive into!
Jeanna, I haven't heard of Dana White's site, I look forward to checking it out!
Today I tackled the "bill cabinet". I shredded better than 5 years of bank statements (the majority from a bank that no longer exists ) and any bill statement older than 1 year old. I filled a garbage bag with shredded paper ( compacted as best I could).
Last night I cleaned out a kitchen cabinet and our movie/video game cabinet. When that was done I packed up all of my donate piles. Vietnam Vets came today and pickup 2 garbage bags of clothes and two boxes of toys and kitchen stuff.
So I got into another section of the closet...Found a small plastic tote FULL of old glasses!!! My DH, DS and I all wear glasses and glasses cases and DH is an optician so we have LOTS! Between those and more clothes...another 49 items out the door!!!
DH is taking the glasses to work to donate to the Lions Club for refurbishing and distribution to people who need them. What a relief...I would have had a hard time throwing them away!!
DS took everything we had ready to ARC of Anchorage...local donation place. It was four large bags of clothes, shoe, slippers, purses and a couple other random things. Felt good to get it out of the house.
So off of our calendar, we can check off Jan 29th and 20th!!!
Bringing total to 173 items gone!!!!

Jennifer, If you happen to have some vintage 60s or 70s men's glasses, like these:
I would love love love to have them! My DH only wants these, and we have not had much luck at the 2nd hand stores recently. His current frames are totalled, but he has designed a very clever steam-punk style fix using springs and magnets.

Great idea! My husband and I began decluttering a few months ago. We could not walk in our storage room. So, we began to decluttering one shelf at a time. Then I went through the tons and tons of plastic shoe boxes filled with power cords for items we no longer had.
We have taken a bit of a break, but will get back to it soon.
The other challenge is to not bring so much into the house.

I'd be happy to pay shipping!
I wish I had known this before I sent all the glasses to DH's work...he took a pair almost exactly like that and gave them to his co-worker. She loves them and apparently has plans for them.
I will watch for any others, DH ends up with the oddest stuff so there may be more lurking in the corners of my house. And I'll have him check with her and let her know there is another home for them if she decides to not do anything with them.

Awesome. It's getting harder and harder to find this style of vintage frame!
Declutter update: Well, I've been working on decluttering my brain lately more than my space. I'm reading a self-help book for time and productivity management for professionals. The first thing I took on is writing EVERYTHING down. I've been doing that, and I'm taking my unseemly pile of chicken scratch to work today to try to make sense of it. Wish me luck!
Okay....since the 1st of January, we have checked the following days off our declutter calendar:
Jan 25
January 28
February 1
February 2
February 4
March 1
March 30
March 31
That is another 122 items for a total so far of 295 items!!!!! Some was trash and some went in the donate pile. Good grief!!! We have a lot of stuff!!!! I am so glad to be passing some of this stuff onto someone who needs it or will better appreciate it and it won't be gathering dust in my house!!

I spent most of my work day yesterday moving things from my in basket and my head on to paper, in a beginning attempt to make sense of my work life, which has sort of taken on an alien life of it's own. It's oozing out the cracks and driving me nuts. So even though this wasn't traditional decluttering, it has the same effect. I'm counting it!
At home, DH has been working hard to process the influx of stuff from Christmas. We've selected a number of items to return or donate. There is still a pile of "?" items that DS(8) got as gifts that we may chose to donate as well.
I've still got a contained "sort" pile in DS's room, and yesterday I had him sort 5 things. He's tolerating giving stuff away really well, much better than ever in his life. It's a relief to see him mature in this way. I think he sees the benefit of having an organized space. He has said that when his floor is clear, he feels good.
I am jumping on the declutter bandwagon. It is just dh and I in a 1124 sq ft home and we're running out of space.
I work on location or from home 6 days a week. Wednesday is the day I don't work and as long as there are no plans or appointments, I've declared them declutter days.
So far today we have packed up all of the Christmas stuff and tossed some older, worn out ornaments.
I have a built in book shelf on the back wall of my dining room. The doored cabinets underneath had become a catchall for EVERYTHING so I got that cleared out. It was tossed, set aside to donate or if Im keeping it, it's been moved to a new permanent spot.
I'm taking a break to recharge and will start on kitchen cabinets after lunch!
