What better way to celebrate becoming a teenager? Disneyland of course!!! - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well, I have bowed gracefully out of the wedding and we will be leaving on the 29th as early as we can manage. I can now move DL/CA to July 1st as originally planned. It has a better crowd prediction, but will be hot!
We are not going to Oceanside now. The condo is not available, but that is okay.
My DD turns 13 tomorrow! I cannot believe it. She is so excited and counting down the hours. She is so happy that grandma and grandpa are buying her and sister tickets to DL/CA. She said it is going to be a great birthday!
10 days until departure and 12 days until DL/CA!!!
Thanks everyone for DDs birthday wishes. We had a wonderful lunch and evening after the girls got home from church. She just cracks me up. I still cannot believe she is a teenager. I posted a pic of her on FB when she was not quite 2 and I couldn't hold back the tears! She is turning into a lovely young lady though. She is already as tall as me, so that I am glad about. I hope she keeps going and passes 5 foot. (I am only 4'10&1/2")
Well, the trip and DL are all definite now. I can officially start paying attention to my countdown! Yippee!!!! I am at work and just can't concentrate! Next week is going to drag. This weekend will go fast because we have Lauren's bday party and a wedding reception. The nights next week will go fast because I have to much to do after work. The work day, though, is what I am worried about.
I haven't told the girls yet that DL is a definite! I can't wait to see the looks on their faces!!
Any advice for a one day trip is greatly appreciated.
I really need to know which QS places are the best. I know we will mostly snack, but just in case.
The other thing is a GAC card. My grandmother has heart problems and will be using a walker or a wheelchair. Would she be able to get a GAC card? I am a little worried, with what went down a few weeks ago at DL. And we would only need it for the rides she will ride, which won't be anything with a huge line, I don' think.
My mother bought the tickets Friday and I printed out the etickets! I am so excited.
I have 4 more work days before we hit the road. Today has gone pretty fast, hopefully the rest of the week will too!
We had my DD13 bday party yesterday and had a great turn out and her and my other DD11 had a wonderful time seeing their old classmates. Lauren ended up with $110 from everyone. The first thing she said is, now she had money for DL!
I still can't believe she is 13 now!!!
My DH and I decided to switch cell phone carriers, so I am getting a new phone tomorrow and supposedly the phone I am getting has a camera that all the reviews say that they replaced their regular camera with the one on the phone. I am hoping the reviews are correct and I get some great pics off of my phone during the trip!
I have got to get the hotel booked for our stop in Gallup, NM Saturday night. Clean up the house a bit and get the laundry done so I can start packing.
I have too much to do and not enough time! I have the girls cleaning house today. My poor husband has been working12-14 hour days and our lawn is a jungle, so I am going to try to get some of that done tonight for him.
The week is dragging, as of course I knew it would.
My grandmother has decided not to go to DL with us. She is afraid she will hinder us since we only get one day and there is not a lot she can ride, so she is not sure she wants to spend the money. Since she is not going and I was able to "borrow" some of my overtime hours I will work in Aug (now I am not going on vacation without pay!) I decided to book us a room for the 1st. That way we can just go back and crash and not drive back to San Bernardino until in the early am.
I booked the Anaheim Plaza Hotel and Suites, so if anyone has anything bad they know about it please let me know. I can cancel for free until midnight Friday. It looks like the walk is too bad. Any walk at midnight after a long day is going to be long.
2 and 1/4 work days left, 4&1/2 days until I am in a Disney bubble!
It needs to hurry up!!!
getting everything done before you head out and congrats on booking the extra night to save the long drive. I know nothing about the hotel, so unfortunately I can't help you with that.

10 more working hours until I am officially on vacation and 26 total hours.
Still no where near ready to go. House is still a mess. Getting a new teenager and a tween motivated and away from electronics when I am not there to monitor is tough.
I have to go to the store tonight to get snacks/lunch stuff for the drive so we don't have to stop so much and some groceries for the hubby. Don't want him to starve, although he may be gone 3 days that we are to go to a car auction, either in Chicago or Nashville.
