A dream come true part deux -Pre-trip report - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

How exciting for your family to see your boys march at Disney! Very . Your plans look great and I think you'll really enjoy Tusker House...especially if you get good seats for the Nemo show.

I'm so sorry about your aunt. Hopefully this trip will be just what the doctor ordered! I know a dose of Disney always does me good when I'm having a tough time. (And Tonga Toast is particularly therapeutic! )

More pixies for you, Ann. So sorry about the loss of your Aunt. Although it may be difficult, remember that she would want you to be happy, and thrilled to see your boys marching down Main Street. And sorry about the IBS flare-up. Paul suffers from that, too. No fun! But, you've got so much accomplished for the trip. The tee shirt site sounds awesome. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures.
First off.. thank you guys so much for the thoughts on my Aunt.. I am still pretty rocked over her death.. My Mom passed away 23 years ago & ever since then my Aunt has been like a 2nd mother to me.. ANYTIME I needed her, she was there for me. I spoke to her the night before she died & she was fine so to get that phone call the next day was a total shock. I AM hoping that Disney is just what I need to break out of this blue funk I'm in.. My Aunt was so looking forward to ME going on this trip (she was afraid to fly & couldn't take long drives or she would have been there)
Okay.. enough sadness.. I can't think of her without crying !!
We are at the last double digit day today... 10 more days & I'll be seeing Mickey! Did online check in this morning & it was a breeze. i'm still waiting to get the photopass pre-order e-mail. I wrote them asking if it was sent & they told me they send them out appx 10 days before arrival so I'm hoping I get it.
I do have a photopass question.. even tho I'm 99% sure I know the answer.. Are the photos taken at Chef Mickey etc.. (before the meal) part of the Photopass system? I don't think so but I'm double checking.
I have opted to not ask for a specific building at POFQ.. Since the entire resort is so compact I thought that we would be close to the food court & bus no matter what & I would prefer to have my room possibly ready when I arrive (at 11am) . I know there are no guarantees of the room being ready but I think the less requests I ask for the better my chances are. I did check off ground floor & close to transportation on the online check in form but I wont be faxing any specific room requests.

Almost time! I believe if you purchase the package at CM's, they can load those pictures onto the Photopass card at one of the kiosks (parks, maybe resorts) but you have to purchase the package first at the meal.

You do have to purchase the pictures at CM in order to add them to your PhotoPass card. There was a code on our receipt so that I could just add them when I got home. But you can add them at one of the park kiosks, too. and for all the final preps.
I kinda figured that about the Chef Mickey photos.. for some reason Shelby is insisting we buy the photo.. she says it will be one of just her & her parents..
I can't believe we're in single digits already... WOW!! I honestly thought this time would never come. If you read my trip report from the first dream come true, that entire trip was so happy & sad at the same time. It was wrought with lots of turmoil. In all of this time planning I kept waiting for the boom to fall & something bad to happen with this trip. It never did.. We got a great deal at WDW , didn't pay too much for airfare & got the flight times we wanted, we also got all of the ADR's we wanted. Everything has been pretty smooth.. (which worried me as Mr Murphy & I are close close friends)
But I think what I am happiest about is that Jim will definitely be there this time. No, I don't care about him being there for me, I proved long ago that I am strong & can do things on my own (just read the first TR) but the boys really want both of their parents there to see them march.. I know Jim regrets not being there when Jamie marched & Jamie holds a lot of resentment due to that. Brendan is MUCH more sensitive than Jamie & he was the one who REALLY wanted both of us there so I'm glad it's happening for them.
okay, soap opera over..
Onto the preps for today..
Last night Brendan cleaned & polished his white band shoes, changed the laces & got his band bag ready.. They have to wear a white t shirt under their band uniform & are throwing it away after the performance (they will have Disney band shirts to wear while touring), they also wear white dress knee high socks. Jamie & Brendan also have to have their white gloves in there & their berets & most importantly their tuba mouthpieces
Their band bags have to be at school tomorrow in order for the director to check them & make sure everything is in there.
Shelby tried on her bathing suits last night for the 900th time since we bought them & as a typical pre-teen HATES them.. she's too fat ( her words,. the girl is skinny as a rail), her one piece makes her look stupid, her 2 piece shows her belly hair (don't know where she got that one ) She has also packed & re-packed everything in her suitcase SEVERAL times.. When she goes to school today i'm going to take a peek in her suitcase & see what she has in there..
I need to buy snacks for the boys to put in their suitcase for their room.. I saw a 45 pk of crackers & cookies combo at Sams & a combo pack of Capri Sun. Both boys also asked for Skittles so again.. I'll get all of this at Sams this weekend.
