Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue **Updated 12/23~~2 Times** - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a great surprise for you guys - you know, I did see Angie in your signature pic and think "I didn't know she was joining you!" - obviously I wasn't the only one!
I'm so excited - another Melissa and Andy TR!!!
Loved your room view at the CR!
How wonderful that Angie surprised you.
Can't wait to hear about the MVMCP. Hurry back please.
We had pretty much just finished getting ready when Angie returned. And this time, she came baring gifts! She's always way to good to us
She gave me a cute clear bag from NYC WoD to carry in the parks (which was GREAT b/c another thing on the "forgotten list" was Andy's backpack).
Yeah, right after at home Melissa had said "You got your backpack right?" and I said "Not yet, I'll get it." Maybe that was an unconscious ploy to not have me carry around all the crap for the whole trip
Nice. Real nice. Anyway, the new bag was used everyday! She also gave me the little Mickey/Minnie personalized anniversary pin that I was planning on buying. And she gave me an ornament for the tree that was for a teacher And she also gave me the Pop Century Christmas pin b/c it has Stitch on it She gave Andy a really cool Beatles ornament. Currenty the Beatles and the teacher mouse are hanging on the tree together Oh and she gave us something else (something edible) that I can't mention on a family board. That dirty dirty girl
We got everything together and headed out to walk the "fertilizer trail" as Angie calls it, to the MK. I realized it does stink over there On the way Andy got a hold of my camera, and here's evidence why that's not always a good thing...
We stopped and pin traded with some big wigs in the CR lobby...
I think that's where I scored one of the Chip and Dale season CM pins.
So I contribute some detail to this trip report I say it was the summer one of the set.
Sounds good to me. You know, speaking of detail, every trip Andy says "We need to take notes" and we never do...
It's true. And then Melissa takes a mental note of me saying we need to take notes, and then she continues on.
After scoring our pins, we made our way over to the MK. I always get so distracted when I first walk in. All plans go on halt until my ADHD that I swear I have, wears off. This time I was distracted by all the new Christmas decor such as the toy soldiers and the nutcrackers.
No comment from the peanut gallery about the nutcrackers
We took a few pictures after we entered..
Angie spotted some more fellows to pin trade with so we did. I think one of these guys had some of my transportation set pins.
Yeah, you got two of them off him, didn't you? You two are the reason that come the end of the day CM's don't have any really good pins left.
Hey that's what those pins are there for....trading...fool
After pin trading we went into Adventureland and spotted a really short line for Rafiki. So we decided to get a picture..
I have a picture of Angie with him but it turned out horribly blurry for some reason......
We hopped on the Jungle Cruise before it closed. While we were in line the annoucement thing said something about watching out for wild adults on the loose. Right as it said that we passed this lady in line, wearing bright bright clothes, LOTS of makeup...
And a Phil Spector 'fro
She was definitely.....interesting. Anyway, she screams out "WIIIILD ADUULLLTS!!!" and we just thought.....yep.....you said it
We were in the back of the boat...and we had to sit there while all these newbies who had no clue what was going on, just kill the humor in the boat.
We went ahead and rode PoTC b/c we knew Brandi wouldn't let Pom (with good reason though, that drop at the beginning would not be good for a Pom's back It was still only a little after 4 and we walked RIGHT ONTO a boat. I'm not stretching the truth here. Right on. We knew it was gonna be a good night!
Right after we got off Pirates I got a call from Brandi Sue. Poor Brandi said she needed some Loflin b/c Pom was driving her nuts with something. She told us they were up at City Hall and that she would meet us on the Emporium side of Main Street. So we headed up that way. We left Angie in a shop so she could surprise them. And we made our way towards City Hall. We get there, no Brandi and Pom. We didn't pass them. Where the heck were they?? So I called her again and somehow they had made it down to the castle. So we headed back that way. We finally ran into them and ducked into one of the stores where we left Angie, but she wasn't there!!!! I told Brandi and Pom, hang on, I wanna show you something....but then had to pretend like I was stupid and couldn't find it anymore, and then I just left them standing there with Andy, probably wondering what the heck was wrong with Melissa....Angie had wandered off. I called her and finally hunted her down. I was like "When we leave you somewhere you have to stay!!"
Well we did leave her there for like 5 minutes when it was supposed to just be like one.
Anyway, I come walking up with her behind me and say "I found it!!" and you shoulda seen their faces. Brandi just yells out "Angie Shandy!" Cause that's what they call her....b/c she does enjoy a Shandy (or two, or three )
At that moment everyone else in the shop stopped what they were doing and watched to see what the commotion was. All those WILD ADULTS!
We got the heck outta there b/c it was packed in the shop and headed towards the castle.
There was discussion of where to eat. We settled on Cosmic Ray's so we could see Sonny Eclipse. That had been one of the things Pom and I had agreed on on myspace
ourspace... to you it would be theirspace
To who? Me or the people reading this?
Anybody.
If you're confused see the previous update about Andy and Pom's growing relationship on "ourspace". Brandi calls it the Pom and Andy show. Every day we both (me and Brandi) come home from work and read those two's comment walls on myspace and see what sort of delusional conversation has gone on today.
Some days are more delusional than others.
Back to the story here.....
We had quite the experience at Cosmic Ray's. We ordered our food and fumbled around trying to figure out where to sit.
I tried to move the tables that were screwed to the ground.
I went back up to where Brandi was ordering and she turns around and gives me this cross eyed silly face that causes me to bust out laughing, which in turn, caused everybody in line to turn and look at me..... niiiiice. I get up there and she points out this old fella working behind the counter. He was from Puerto Rico she says. And he says to her (in her Puerto Rican accent which was hilarious when she told this story) anyway he says to her "Don't I know you?" And she goes "well, we come here a lot, and I'm a teacher, so you know me from that, but I don't think I know you". And he goes "I saw you in my dreams" It makes me laugh thinking about it. And it just got better when we walked away and he brought her her food he says something about the condiments and everything you need is over there at the bar, and something about how he was everything she needed. Brandi, you gots to tell the story!
We started out at two tables, but that didn't work b/c we couldn't talk to each other so we all crowded around a little 4 person table. And in this picture, I must've been telling some gross kid story b/c look at everybody's faces
Pom challenged me to finish all my apple sticks.... I think I came close. I crammed all but like 2 of them in my stomach. He did not agree that I was successful. After lots of stupid laughs and comments we headed out.
It was time to get the party started!
We went back up to the castle to see the castle lighting ceremony. It was starting to get chilly!!
LOVE this picture of everybody with their cameras!! Surely somebody got the shot
And the tree lightning ceremony!!
Those castle lights are sooooo pretty!
We tried to make it to the 7pm Mickey Mouse Christmas Show (that's Pom speak for Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas). But it was full, so we decided to do Monster's Inc. instead. We had stopped to get a sweet cream cheese pretzel for everyone to try before the show. Andy and Pom had gone to get a Banana Smootie. There was this little old lady working the window at the Lunching Pad. When I ordered the pretzel, she said I couldn't have one... so I told her the story of how much Andy loves them, that he might cry if he didn't get one, and how back in August he watched the last one be sold to the guy in front of him. So after the lady and Brandi and Angie and I joked around Andy and Pom returned. I went up the window and I told Andy "they're out of cream cheese pretzels".
I had this look of panic, disbelief, and you're joking right??"
I even took it so far as to drag him up to the window with the old lady was like "Tell him, tell him this is a regular pretzel" Which she totally did. She had him going for a minute
She had Pom going for a few minutes. I think he related it to his banana smooties. Like what would he do if he went up to the window and there were no banana smooties?????
It was hilarious!! Good times!!!
I wasn't entirely sure it was a cream cheese pretzel until I bit into it!
After all this insanity, we made it to Monster's Inc.
I took a great pic Brandi trying to break down Mike Wazowski's door. Brandi, you gotta post your pictures on here!!!
We texted a joke that one of my kids told me.... What's a boxer's favorite drink??? PUNCH!!! HAHAHAHAHA Only I didn't say it was from Melissa in Charlotte....I said it was from Tom in Orlando. I almost sent Pom, but I didn't think they'd pick a joke from a Pom.
We got in, scored primo seats b/c of Pom. And hoped somebody would be "that guy". No luck this time. BUT, they did choose my joke!! And I think it took Pom a few seconds to process that I had said it was from him Funny stuff. Ole Buddy Boyle did Andy's favorite skit. Where he's pyschotic and can telepathetically read your mind. And then he bonks his eyeballs together and they swing out and back and make a funny noise. It's good stuff.
After that we headed over to the Mickey Mouse Christmas Show. It was really starting to get cold now. We had front row seats, again thanks to Pom Pom busted out his gloves....that had a hole in the area between his thumb and his first finger.
Andy's tourettes syndrome kicked in and cleared out the entire row behind us (next to Brandi and Angie)
He made a reference to a certain type of undergarment and we'll just leave it at that. I think he's embarassed now, but buddy at the time everybody (except for the folks that left) thought it was hilarious and Brandi and Pom continued to call Pom's gloves by the new name
Another addition to the "Pomtionary"
I took this stupid picture before the show started...
And then pics of the show..
The fact that their eyes and mouths moved was cool....but when Minnie got out of bed with her eyes closed....it totally freaked me out!!!! Open your freaky eyes Minnie!!!
After the show we came out and saw Stitch was out. So we had to get in line. By this time Andy's head was suffering from the cold so he took Pom's santa hat, which I think was a nice addition to his head..
Brandi and I schemed our plan for our photo with Stitch. I went first
I told him I was going to take his scarf because it was so cold. He rubbed my hands to make them warm... awwww
Then I told him to watch out for that crazy lady over there in the red mickey hat..
And then all chaos broke loose!!
Brandi pulled this way, I pulled that way!! Poor Stitch earned his Pom given nickname of "Stretch"
Those pictures crack me up!!!
After seeing Stitch we headed over to ride the Haunted Mansion. Andy, me, and Pom all fit into one doom buggy. Good stuff!!
Before that though we ran into Bill and Jan and Donna in one of the Tomorrowland stores. I bought the Stitch MVMCP pin there and Angie bought a blanket b/c she was cold. She was able to surprise Bill here! We stuck it to the mouse and got our free hot chocolate and cookie as well.
Then we came back around and caught the end of the fireworks, literally. Huge hunks were falling on us!!!!! Andy had to pick one up and inspect it and I made Pom smell it
Pom saw the Christmas store so we had to go in. I picked up the MVMCP ornament and some Christmas candy corn that Brandi showed me. She knew I liked putting away some candy corn
We took a few pictures before the parade...
And since it was cold, we stuck it to the mouse again and got some more free hot chocolate. Andy went and got us all hot chocolate He's so sweeet
Then it was time for the parade. Bill and crew (as I call them, cause there's a bunch of them) and Donna came over and we all watched the parade together.
After the parade we rode Peter Pan, made faces at each other as we flew around in the black light and then we did Philharmagic. By now it was getting close to closing time and it was FREEEEZING!!! We decided to call it a night. We didn't have a choice, as it really was midnight. We all walked back to the CR. But before we left... Andy kept his promise to Pom and made snow angels on Main Street..
OHH, and before that we stopped and got corn dog nuggets!!!
as if burgers, pretzels, smooties, hot chocolate times two, and cookies weren't enough!
Well I didn't have any corn dog nuggets...but you guys did.
This was one of the things Pom and I plotted on "ourspace"
So I have this picture of Pom doing his version of snow angels, but instead of laughing at that, I just laugh at his ketchup in his hand and his corn dog nuggets in his lap
After the cooooold walk back to the CR they came up to our room and we gave them our silly Christmas presents we'd brought them. We got Pom a National Lampoon Christmas Vacation tshirt and a figurine of the "Old Man" from A Christmas Story (with leg lamp). And I gave Brandi a framed photo (the photo that makes me smile from our last TR). And a magnet of Charlotte so they could see it was a booming metropolis and not Boonesfarm as Pom calls it
They finally called it a night around like 1:30 that night and dropped Angie off at Pop before heading home.
We set our wake up call for 7am. We planned on hitting EMH at MGM. Think we made it??????
WOW!! What a great evening! Sounds like a lot of fun memories made!! The CM interaction with Brandi is HYSTERICAL!! Dear Lord! How cool that you ran into Bill, Donna & crew. the snow angels....or concrete angels........whatever they are.... Can't wait to hear more

Can't believe that I may be the first poster after your latest update. Love reading your TR. You guys really know how to have fun. It is interesting that you always seem to have a following everytime you go to WDW. That really takes some co-ordinated planning and I believe some scheming. Can hardly wait to read more of the anniversary adventure. I thought you were the really big Stitch fanatic. Looks like you may have found your match. Keep the updates coming.
OMG! The sticky wings at Kona Cafe are fantastic. We ate dinner there Sat (11/22) night and all of our meals were great! My mom and I also ate breakfast there on Mon (11/24) while the kids did the Pirate Adventure. The Tonga Toast was out of this world. This in my new favorite restaurant.
We could not believe how cold it got at night this past week. Brrr...
We also discovered the corn dog nuggets at Caseys - it became our favorite snack place, well along with the Bakery and those cinnamon rolls!
Great trip report. Enjoying reading it since we arrived on the same day!
Deb
Great updates. God, it's killing me that we aren't going to WDW this year at Christmas time. It's my favorite time of the year. I've had a few jokes chosen at the MILF. I'm still waiting to be "That Guy" though. hahaha

read that back to yourself Matt....see if you laugh at what my dirty mind laughed at
Sounds like a great time at MVMCP!!! I love the Santa hat that Andy borrowed from Pom. It looks cute on him. It's so nice that you've become such good friends with PP friends. Can't wait to hear if you made it to EMH at DHS!
