Our Disney Vacation with Fay and the Crab Assasins - COMPLETE!! - UPDATED 9/16 - Page 3 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So after the GRandparents said goodbye, we headed for Space Mountain, where they were handing out the bracelets. We got in line and quickly got them on and headed to get fastpasses for SM. They were for 1:20 am. Wow. The wait line was about 45 minutes, so we went and got in line for Astro Orbiters. That line by the was is deceptively long! We must have waited over a half hour. It takes a long time, I guess thats why I don't remember riding that one as a kid. Any way it was a great ride. You can see so much of the park from there! Kids loved it. Next we did Stitch's Great escape. Ok, so if you love stitch, just ff to the next paragraph!! really!! do it. do it now. . . . . Ok. are they gone. Good. We hated that ride. or is it a show. I mean you never actually move, so is it a show, or a ride? Its really dumb, thats what. Oh, and smelly, at least when we were on there. No wonder we could just walk right onto it. Not up to Disney standards!! oK, end of rant.
Ok. So if you have just skipped ahead, we rode stitch, and then moved on to one of my personal favorites, TTA. I love it at night. We all enjoyed that, except I really missed the part were it shows you your future. Those were the window in the space mountain section that are blacked out. Oh well, still really nice. Then we did Laugh floor. Kids loved it. It was really well done. Then it was 12:50 and frankly my DH had been draggin butt for the last 2 hours. He is an AARP member after all! LOL So we decided to do SM another day, and went to ride Cindy's carosel. Heres a pic of DD9 who I helped to find Cinderellas actual horse so she could ride it!! Kate on Cindys horse.jpg
See the Gold bow on the Tail!! She was so excited about that!!
Well, then we called it a night. Grabbing two Mickey rice crispy treats on the way. A lovely boat ride "home" and everyone into bed by 1:30 am. Oh boy that wake up alarm will come early at 7am. Cause we have an ADR at 8:25am at Tusker House!! Will we make it on time. Will DH still be able to function??

Awesome TR! Just read it all and am so excited to hear all about your family's first magical trip... nothing beats it! Glad to hear you loved WL. That was the resort we chose for our first Disney trip as well, and the lobby simply took our breath away! Glad to hear your glowing review of Tony's, as we are trying it in November, and that you had a terrific first day at MK. Come back with more soon!
What a great first day...glad your DH finally saw the light and realized why you had wanted to do this trip so much...
You guys really lasted...after traveling all day I am not sure if I could have kept going...I think I probably would have just sat on a bench and fallen asleep
Glad you had such a wonderful time at Tony's...I have heard some mixed reviews but lately I have heard some really good stuff, glad that your family had such a great meal...

Day 2 8-16-08 Animal Kingdom and a Fabulous Discovery and old friends!
Well, even after a very long first day, I was too excited to sleep all that much. So I woke up at 6am. One hour before the alarm! So I went ahead and got ready anyway, carefull not to wake the rest. Then went down to fill both our mugs with much needed coffe. On the way I took the long way through the courtyard, and heard "GOOD MORNING!" from above, Mom and Dad were up and on the balcony watching the ducks and bunnies. { For those of you unfamiliar with Wilderness Lodge, it truly is a very nature full place! There are wild "resident" mallard ducks who daily patrol the courtyards and the POOL! Seriously you can even swim all around them! Then there are the Bunnies, lots of them. They do not run from you when you walk up the path. They also will come right up to the tables by roaring fork and sort of beg!! It was truly wild. The kids loved watching them.} So after filling the mugs and going back up, I saw M&D had the door propped open, so I stopped in. "We've been waiting for you! Mom says with a hug. She apparently was hoping I would be up early. What a nice start to the day! I woke up the family with a little pillow fignt. And everyone was up and at'em. Off to the bus we went headed for our Second ADR Tusker House! We arrived just after the parade was wrapping up and headed straight to Tusker, where we did not have to wait long at all. Seated and Juiced, (they have the best juice mixture they serve you there!) We were told to wait and stay at our table because we had to be welcomed. So very soon this cast of characters came to welcome us. . .
After a wonderful breakfast buffet of jungle juice, awesome quiche, so much fruit, and loads of other goodies, we were able to walk right onto Kilimanjaro Safaris! It was only about 9:45 and we had a great ride through the park, I knew that it would seem like we were right next to the animals, however, sometimes you really are! We had a white rhino come right up to our jeep! I thought it would stop, and that there was some sort of barrier we couldn't see, but he was within touching distance, and then as we passed him he stepped right on the tracks we had ridden over! Mom and I were astonished! He could have rammed the jeep. I guess thats why they have the two foot wide rubber bumpers on the side of them!! After that exciting ride, we headed down the road towards our next destination EVEREST. But on the way we made an awesome discovery! Can you guess what it is???
After our great discovery, which I will reveal later, we did get to go to Everest, it had just started to sprinkle, and they were making announcements about how the ride might close, but we got in line anyway, since the fast passes were for so much later. The line moved really quickly becuase it rained harder and folks started leaving the line. By the time we got inside the museum part we really didn't have any time to really look at it! But I won't argue with having only a 15 minute wait for that ride! So we went on Everest, even Mom who was unsure because of her neck. She was sort of freaking out at the backward part, and was making faces and noises at the end, I was paying so much attention to her at he end, that I forgot my fannypack in the pocket thing. Oh no, the train had pulled away before I realized it and then I had to wait by the picture kiosk until that train came around. Luckily I wasnlt too panickedm, thanks to my PASSPORTER POUCH! I had all my KTTW and money etc, all the truly important things in my PPPouch. So no worries, if I did'nt get it back, I can replace my sunscreen, phone, and camera. But just like the cm said, they always get them back, and in less than 10 minutes I got it back!! Next we headed for a meet with my Maid of Honor!! She moved to Florida a few years ago 10 to be exact and I hadn't seen her since. Her daughter is right in between my two and so it was a glorious meeting! We all had fun seeing animals, riding primevil whirl, (which was harder on my body than any other ride!) We also went on Dinosaur . . .
Ok, so we then walked through the trails, got some frozen juice drinks, perused the Dinoland gift shops, and checked out the boneyard. This is where my DH and the kids, came up with a great idea! They dug a hole up in the boneyard digging area and hid a golden saccachawea dollar! Would have loved to been there when a kid dug that up. Then we hit BugS life Its tough to be a bug. Awesome attraction!!! LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! And I won't tell you anything about it. Cause if you have been there you know, and if you haven't I won't be a party to spoiling anything!! We even went to see it a second time, something we rarely do!! All too soon it was time to say goodbye to my friend, because we had to be in HS for our 4:50 ADR at H&V. We would see her again tomorrow at WL. But for now, we headed out and boarded the bus to HS. It was already 4:25 we were cutting it close!
