Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

We have a long list of sports at our house. We have softball, baseball, basketball for both, track and field, football, volleyball and dance/poms. Phew. What a list! There would be more if we didnt say no to DD. Our parents think we are way to busy but it keeps the kids out of trouble, keeps them active and healthy and has allowed us to make some great friends as well.

Andrew plays soccer. It starts next weekend. I put him in the rec league. This way I don't have to travel all over creation. He also plays T-ball in the spring. Also in the rec league, but only because there's no school league for 5 year olds.

You are so right about this - there are days that I'm looking forward to their practices so that I can talk to the other parents there! And my kids think it's all about them!!!

As wee little ones, the kiddies took swimming lessons. This went to t-ball. Then little league for my son. Then at 9 he joined the swim team. He is now 15 and swims for he local city team, USA swimming, And the high school team. He has traveled all over new england and canada. DD took up rec cheering, then All-Star cheerleading. We've gone all over for that. Niagra Falls, Tampa, New Jearsey, Baltimore, I could go on and on. She has since stopped and is now 16 and wants a job. DS while still swimming like crazy is developing a fast interest in performing. He has done High School Musical and just finished Footloose. He is starting to get really good and is trying out for Jesus Christ Superstar next week. He is also on the men's choir and concert choir in high school. I think they are pretty well-rounded!

My dd has played Ice Hockey since she was 4. That is her main sport and always has been playing on both boys and girls teams. She has also played/currently plays softball, soccer and basketball and might try volleyball for school this year. She took swim lessons too when she was young but just long enough to learn to swim but nothing competitive.

Josh (14) played baseball from 2nd-6th grade, and now is doing cross-country in high school.
Jeffrey (11) has played baseball from 2nd grade and will probably continue for a few more years as well.
Jamie (10) plays softball, dances (tap, jazz and something else?), and does cheerleading in the fall.

My girls have played just about everything with varying degrees of interest and ability over the years.

Amanda started out with dance lessons and branched out into team sports as she got older. She played recreational baseball, soccer and basketball with our town feeder teams until she hit middle school. In fact - when it was time to move to girl's softball in fourth grade - she refused - and played a year of baseball with the boys (not a fun year - she played softball the next year.) In 6th grade - she did town soccer and middle school field hockey in the fall which was a big no-no (you were supposed to choose.) She continued to play field hockey through high school (Varsity starter as a freshman!) She also did two years of softball as the catcher at the high school level before she gave it up to work. She also played on the ASA all-stars for a couple of years. She stopped dancing after 5th grade to concentrate on sports.

Jennie didn't like team sports much, but made a token attempt when she was younger. She played soccer through 6th grade (her favorite), baseball through 3rd grade, and basketball from 4th to 6th grades. Her big love is dance - and she took classes in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and modern (lyrical) right through high school at the competition level.

Sarah is just entering the 7th grade - she's played T-ball, softball, soccer, field hockey, basketball, cheerleading (both basketball cheering for the middle school last year as well as Pop Warner football), and track and field (triple jump, long jump, 1/2 mile and 1 mile). Field hockey is her biggest love - she's following in Amanda's footsteps. She also adores dance - and is excited to be in her first competition class this year!

I always asked my kids to try everything available to them for at least one full season. I think it teaches good sportsmanship and keeps them healthy. If they don't like it, they don't have to play again the next year - but NO quitting mid season!

Hi,

My boys play soccer and tried football this year. Alex DS9 didn't like getting tackled.
He prefers to play chess. Laura-Lynn DD6 figure skates and wants to play tennis, but you had to be 6 before July 15th, and she was still five.( I think she only wants to play tennis because of the cute american girl doll outfit. ) If I hear this request again I will let her play next summer.

I only have 1 child and she keeps us running constantly. Hats off to the parents with more kids!!!!

Jordyn is 12 1/2 (7th grade). She is in her 7th year of dance. She dances on Tues & Thurs nights. However, I think this will be her last year. She has been playing softball since she was 5. Now she is on a traveling team and the #1 pitcher in her age group (12U). It's actually fastpitch. Right now she is in a pitching clinic on Sundays (thru Dec), Mon. nights is open gym for all the girls in our association - there she works with her pitching coach. On Wed nights she has her private lesson. She is sure expensive!!!! But, she LOVES it. Inthe spring she will be able to play school ball. My dream was for her to place 1st base. When she was about 8 she decided she wanted to pitch. I never thought softball was going to be so expensive!!

Her dream.....to get a scholarship to a southern state (like Arizona State) and play ball for them. She is hoping that they reinstate softball into the Olympic's so that she can play for the USA in the 2020 Olympics! Nothing wrong with BIG dreams!!!
