Sparky's Gone to the World- A TR 9/13/11-9/20/11 - Page 29 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well friends I am officially in the 24 hour stretch!
My to do list has come a long way since my last entry. Here is where I am at with it.
Day before we leave…. SW check in- 11:45 am, 24 hours before flight (ON THE DOT!) Call bus and let them know about DD not riding Pack
Charge cell phones and video camera
Night before we leave…. Load car (after DD goes to sleep) Gas car Cat to Moms- bring litter, food, pillow Showers Library movies back Key to Dbro Day we leave…. Feed DD breakfast (this is when she will find out we are going!) Leave out extra water, food and cat litter pan LEAVE by 6:45- 7:00 am!!! JJ
This week I have bought all the last minute things we needed. I started packing up the toiletrees 2 nights ago, so they are set. I have so much travel items, I didn't need to take anything out of the bathroom. Which makes it easier to keep up the secret.
Yesterday, I did the laundry and as I was folding it, I set certain things aside that need to be packed. Those things are sitting in my room in piles, just waiting for DD to get on the bus this morning, so they can be put in suitcases. So I just have to get the last things packed in there and that will be set.
I have to print my boarding passes at SWA at 11:45am sharp this morning. Here's hoping for good numbers
Yesterday, I went out to buy cigarettes for the trip and get the suitcases from my Dsis house. While I was out I stopped to see if I could pick up 1 pair shorts for DH. After 4 stores, I finally found a pair of Levi shorts and on sale for $15. So that was pretty good. In my journeys I also ended up getting DD another spare backpack. We seem to always be trying to find one at the beginning of the year. She is so hard on them! I scored a Tinkerbell, well Fairies, backpack for 40% off, making it $7.00. I think I will have her use this for carry on and just put it up when we get home. I also found a Mickey shirt for her, where his shoes and shorts are sparkly. She can wear it on the way to WDW. It was $5! Score! Oh I also got 2 pairs of Levi jeans for her for $5 a piece. Which is great, because she seems to be outgrowing her clothes all of a sudden.
Last night in the middle of the night, I was awoken by a Charlie Horse!!! OMG! My leg is killing me now, and I am limping. I know in a day it's usually fine, so pixies for that please!
So that is where I am. I am going to try to get this stuff done as quickly as possible today, so I can take one last nap before we go. I think I will do fine. I will be back periodically today to respond to any posts. But after tonight, I will be gone. *poof*
At this time tomorrow I will be cooking eggs to put on DD plate to surprise her.
Bye everyone!!!!!

Yes, I do love that! It says 14 hours right now. Awww...you know Ashli, one of the things that I will miss most about being gone (out of everything I could miss) is talking to my FFP ladies!!! Even while having fun at WDW, I will miss it, and will think of you girls often. I know I will be saying to myself, "Oh! I have to tell Ashli and Dana that!" or "Dang it! I wish I could share that with the girls...now!" You know I ya!

Have a great trip!!!
Thanks Meg! I can't believe I am so close. I want to go to bed now, so it comes quicker. But still have some things to do. It will come soon enough!
T-Minus.....12 hours and approximately 55 minutes!
Well friends I started this morning hustling. Got almost packed and making a list of last minute additions for the morning, so we don't forget when my landlord called.
Apparently, my rent check was not cashing. After some major anxiety, walking (like I needed that!), and making DH come home from work...it was solved. What had happened was on Friday I made a payment on our credit card, I made it out of my account, when I meant to make it from DH's account. So luckily, it was easily fixed.
Once that was solved, I continued on with my packing. I am happy to say that I got everything packed with the exception of DD carry on with her toys and activities. This will be done once she is in bed for the night. Somewhere in the middle of packing I had to pause to check in for my flight. I did it right on the button and ended up with boarding numbers A32, A33, and A35. Not too bad with no early bird check in either!
I found my missing memory card today as well. Which is great! I thought I was losing my mind last week, when I thought one was missing and I couldn't find it. It was hiding in my pocketbook the whole time.
In the time since DD has been home from school, I have emptied the fridge, brought the library movies back, entered my coke codes to put the bottles away, put the last of the dirty dishes in the dishwasher (I'll turn them on later) and have eaten dinner.
Left to do......
Pack DD carry on bag
Showers
Clean litter box, and prepare liners for the week for Buddy
Clip Petey's nails
Bring Petey to moms for his vacation
Bring key to Dbro
DH to pack his suitcase
Then it's time for Bad Girls Club, and then bed. I don't think I have forgotten anything. We'll see...that list could grow exponetially (sic?) in the next few hours!
Don't know if I will be back on before I leave in the morning, so thanks for following along everyone and wishes for a good trip. I will be back in 9 days for a few teasers before the condensed TR version.
