As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What a fun morning in the MK. I know what you mean about the photographers. Some of the photos they took on my last trip were actually blurry. I mean I get a headache looking at them. But you and Josie look great even if you can't see the castle.

Love the photopass photos! I have to agree that sometimes you just get a dud of a photopass photographer. My particular favorite is the one of our family in front of the castle all smiling, with DH's fly wide open. How the photographer missed it is beyond me. And I'm loving the "here's my belly" poses from Josie. So cute!!!

Oh, and love the fireworks headboard! Does that happen automatically, or is there a switch to throw?
Finding the "switch" would be a little like Where's Waldo. It's a button on the side of the headboard..........took me awhile to find it

But then that makes me feel old; so thanks a lot! Really, just can't wait to hear more.
LOL, ya like that, right??? I'm happy to be giving you a chuckle with this TR!
I always loved reading Jill's TR with her girls, never really thought I would be taking one....and OLD??? Hmm.....didn't you all just celebrate your 29th b-day, yeah.....Me thinks so!!!

Seroiusly, Josie could have taken a better pic.....with her feet

I can't believe that MS picture. Don't the photographers realize you want the castle in the picture? Even I could have taken a better picture than that and I suck at photography. You ladies look fine, but the backdrop could be a lot better. Good thing they got the "bakery" in the background. Nothing like a little hidden construction/remodel as a backdrop!
I know...thanks for the bakery getting in the shot, nevermind the castle

OMG. I have some crazy blurry ones from a few years ago too

Once we woke from our naps and got dressed we headed back to the MK for a little more fun for our last night. I didn’t have much planned for this night because I knew we would be coming back again in the morning for EMH before heading home, so whatever we squeezed in tonight would just be a bonus. However, I did want to make that meet with Rapunzel.
Once back in the MK I went to check on the Rapunzel line and yet again another snotty CM said “It will be at least 50 min until you even get near her!” OK witch, we will be moving right along. At this point I wanted to go grab a FP for the princess (which I totally forgot you could even do this). So we grabbed those and then headed off down MS.
Not knowing how terrible my “castle” or should I say “non castle” shot was from this morning, we stopped again for a pic on MS. This chic took a pic and then just was standing there for a minute, I thought maybe a large group or something was walking behind us and that was why she was pausing, but nope, she still just said hold on. I then realized what she was trying to do. One of the castle shows was going on and it was reaching the end, she was trying to time it right with the fireworks that would be going off. Ahhh, I get ya sista!! She did her best to capture something cool, it didn’t turn out I think how she had planned, but I appreciate her efforts.
Josie had been asking me for a balloon so this was a good time to let her pick one out, as we were getting that I realized the Move it, Shake it, whatever it parade was coming so we waited for them to come on by and watched a little of that before heading into Casey’s for dinner.
I love coming here at this time because it’s pretty empty and we can usually grab a seat in the back on the bleachers! So we did just that and even called Daddy too.
Our FP for the princess were ready at this point so we headed back down MS to go see them, but not before stopping to visit with Goofy and of course Roy!!
This picture with Goofy has me cracking up because Josie was all “This seat is so HOTTTTT” and after I looked at the pic it completely reminds me of a visit when I was probably just a few years older than her. I remember waiting for a parade and my dad sitting me up on this railing and it was burning my tush! That’s about all the memory I have of it, and I can even think back to the picture of this moment and I sware it is in this same exact spot. I have to raid my parents’ house and try to find it.
Once we were getting ready to go inside to see the princesses Josie seemed a little all over the place, she never truly gets all too excited when she see them but man was today a different story. They opened the doors and she just gasped…….”Oh my gosh!!!” It was priceless, I was floored with her reaction………….I’ll let you take a look.
I was so in shock with her that I guess it was written all over my face and a nice little PP photographer noticed it too……..Dawn, grab a tissue, this may bring a tear to your eye………….
When we exited, right into a gift shop mind you, I reminded Josie she still had some money to spend. Since she was on a princess high I thought for sure she would grab something of that sort. She scoped the place out and ran over to this Sorcerer Mickey hat and yelled “This is what I want!” I was all like….”THAT??” She said “YUP, you told me I could get what I wanted and this is what I want Mom!” Can’t argue with that.
She wore this hat for the remainder of the whole trip. I KID YOU NOT!
We decided to head over to TL since we haven’t even made it over there yet and it was at this point that I seriously captured the best pic of the entire trip. This time I really am not kidding with you.
We blasted around TL going on Buzz, the People Mover and MILF.
After that I knew I had to take Josie on that carousel at this time and the line was super short, so that we did!!
I asked her if she wanted to ride IaSW or SW but we both agreed we should probably grab a seat for the parade and just make sure we hit those attractions tomorrow. However my little wizard, well I guess Sorcerer, was determined to get that darn sword out of the stone. Neither she or I could do it but she yelled out “I bet Daddy could!” Should I be the one to tell her that he can’t either???
Off to find a spot for the parade I grabbed a bucket of popcorn and a diet coke and quickly realized I had lost track of time, in a big way!! The crowds were insane and I really started to walk in circles almost trying to figure out where to go. I am one of those people who will scope out my spot an hour before a parade and just wait. This helps when you have another adult with you though. At one point I had to just laugh at myself, I was bumping onto everyone, well really everyone was bumping into everyone, I was pushing a 40lb kid in a stroller she is kinda too big for, I had a dangling bucket of popcorn and a stupid balloon that kept hitting me in the face………..I seriously had this laughing smirk on my face, shaking my head moment like “What am I doing???” I am everything I hate right now. I just keep laughing to myself and realize I am getting closer and closer to the main entrance and finding no spot in sight. I had myself convinced that I would just keep walking straight out those gates if I couldn’t find something. But sure enough I did, right by the end of MS bere you get to Tony’s. Whew! I pushed the stroller up behind a family that was sitting on the curb and Josie could see just fine from there. As soon as we got settled I heard that magic music start and again I was like DUH!!! This parade starts at this end. Why do I always forget the littlest things!!
Of course we loved it and had a great time watching my fave of all time and snacking on my fave snack too…..popcorn!! With the parade over and now about 45min before Wishes, my other all time fave, I hadn’t a clue what we should do. Here is where the lack of planning can bite ya in the butt! I knew the lines for Rapunzel would be cut off but I went to see, just in case. Sure enough they were but I did ask a CM if she would be out at 8am tomorrow for EMH. She of course didn’t know, so I asked…..” Could you find out?” annoyed she seemed but she did call a manger over, who again didn’t know, but he went somewhere to find out for me. Answer is…..NO. Not until 9am. OK, thanks, at least I know to plan for that then.
I really didn’t want to swim my way back up MS but I turned to my sorcerer and asked what she wanted to do. She said we could go. I didn’t fuss about wanting to see Wishes, waiting 45minwith her at this point seemed silly and we had plans to come back in the AM and to be honest, unless my whole family is together, I maybe didn’t really want to see it either at this point. I was missing my boys too. So I was fine with again, beating the crowds. Back to the hotel it will be then.
The ride back to POR was peaceful and quiet and once we got back to the room, the eviction notice was there….boo. Josie and I got ready for bed and I talked to her about what we should do tomorrow at the MK. She asked if we could ride Nemo and see the fairy garden again. I had to remind her that they were at Epcot, she said she knew and would it be OK if we went there instead? How could I argue, I said no problem babe that is where we will go.
With her asleep, I did a little packing and made sure we had everything ready to go in the AM. We had some more fairy business to get too.
Oh Linny! That picture was PERFECT! If you only look at the subject - you & Josie.
But that pic you took of Josie in her hat with the balloon - awesome!
I'm so happy to hear you two having such a great time. I can't believe it's almost over.

Now, THESE photopass photographers knew their stuff! The shots of you two with a real castle view are beautiful, and the one of you watching Josie with the princesses is a real keeper-- definitely one you couldn't pose for. The ones of Josie skipping and interacting with her princess pals are just great. And the balloon one with Sorceror Josie! So cute that she wanted that hat. The eviction notice already? BOO!
Love the pictures of Josie with the Princesses. Too bad about Rapunzel. I will say I was thankful when we went that Cam had no idea who she was as I never saw a line shorter than 45 minutes. And since he's a boy he probably won't want to meet her that much in the future either. Of course if the new baby is a girl I might get stuck waiting for princesses some day.
How sad about the eviction notice. I'm sure Epcot will be fun on your last day. I love how Josie is getting to pick and choose what you guys do. You're such a good mom to change your plans for her.
