What will it be for trip #3? (August 5-14, 2012) - Page 28 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

At DHS Delaney is too small for RockNRoller coaster and Hannah will not do RcRC . DH nd I have never done RnRC so we both want to do it--probably more of a priority for DH as he is a big Aerosmith fan. I will try for child swap to allow Ross to ride with Ben and then or me to ride with Ben.
When watching the YouTube clips, Hannah said NO to ToT (with Delaneyjoining in). Ben conceeded a bit to quickly, "if the girls don't want to do it we can save the time and skip it..."
10-year-old translation: It freaked him out as well but he would not admit it. Either way, that saves another ride on the schedule...
We will arrive before open and make out way immediately to TSMM. We have never seen the regular queue and hope that at open it will be less than Hannah's 20 minute max wait time. We will not stop at the machine for FPs before getting in line...
After TSMM, the girls really want to visit the Pixar characters. Last trip, the lines for Woody and Jesse were always close to an hour. I am hoping that we can meet the MOnsters nc characters and Toy Story friends at his time. The boys will probably go off to FP RnRC at this time...
Other goals:
Beauty and the Beast
Lights action
Little Mermaid
HSK Playground
We have never done the backlot tour or Sounds dangerous so we will fit them in if possible.
Question about the show schedule at DHS....Is it possible to see all of them and also have an ADR in one day? First trip, Girls saw Beauty and the Boys saw Indiana Jones. Last trip we missed all of them. This trip I hope to see Beauty again and make it to the Lights, action show...
Looking at our schedule...I am not sure when we will fit in the necessary break. We have the Fantsmic package at MM at 4:45. Not looking like there is enough time to go back to the resort BEFORE dinner...and AFTER dinner there will not be much time before Fantasmic. I think if we are serious about making Fantasmic this time...I may need to change our ADR. I wanted an early dinner to ensure the restaurant is not too crowded and to have a better chance of a table against the wall...but maybe a late lunch would accomplish the same goal?
So I changed the MM/Fantasmic ADR to 3:00. Seems like a strange time....but...we do prefer "off" times and at least we will have time to go back to the resort before Fantasmic. We will also have a car by our DHS day so that should make it a bit easier as well...???
Plans look good - we are trying to avoid the crisscrossing of AK too. It will be our first stroller free trip and we aim to save the little legs from total exhaustion!

Congrats on finding the luggage scale! Great plans for AK and DHS! We did an early (3PM) Fantasmic dinner package this past June. It was a great time though we still had a bit of a wait.
I would take a look at Steve Soares website for times of DHS shows the week before you leave (they don't change much during the same season so even if your dates aren't posted, the previous week's show times are usually the same.) Walt Disney World Live Entertainment
If you want to see a lot of the shows work out a rough schedule so you can fit them in around your ADR time!

We are thinking we may end up renting one at some point....

I have been looking at current show times. I know they can change but they have seemed fairly consistent lately. This may be the reason we use the PH option. I am still not sure if we will use it much...
This morning Ben said he wants to grow his hair out for WDW so he can get his haircut there...Good thing he mentioned it now and not any later....I called WDW and the first opening for Harmony Barber Shop on August 5 was 2:00...
Your plans sound great! I wanted to let you know that about 11 days out from our trip, I received a Y.E.S. program confirmation. It tells you to print it and bring it to any Guest services at the theme parks or DTD. You also need this confirmation to present when arriving at the park for the Y.E.S. program.
We arrive in WDW Sunday and I plan on picking our park tickets up that day. I will hopefully get an answer then about combining the Y.E.S. tickets with the Key to the World. When I get an answer, I will post it for you.

So I did not ask St Anthony for help....Last night one of my BFF's (who happens to be Jewish) tried a prayer to St Anthony after she was complaining to a Catholic friend that her daughter had lost her IPOD touch and she has been asking everyone all summer if they'd seen it...She said she found it 10 minutes later--in a bin she swore she'd searched 20 times.
If it worked for a Jewish girl---
I tried at lunch...when I was doing laundry later...I re-checked a cupboard...and there it was....Dusty....and in a pouch reading, "Live it with Charter..." I was looking for it by itself, not in a pouch...
Coincidence?
THAT is hilarious!!!!!
So glad you found that scale. Just when you gave up all hope too.

Are you sure wit was not an EMH AM? That is NUTS!!!!
No, they had EMH pm that day. I even took a picture of it to show my hubby. My intentions were to get fastpasses and then get in the stand-by line, but with that wait there was no way I was waiting that much.
Where was Passporter yesterday? I got error messages all day...on every device...until I checked it on my phone again at bedtime!
Anyway...
I made my mousekeeping thank you/tip cards yesterday. In onother post, I read that someone liked to give out the $1 coins because they seemed a bit ore special.
I remember that we had a "collection" of them in our Disney jar. I though it would be cute to make them into a Mickey head. Okay...so this means that our daily tip will be $3 instead of the customary $1/person, but I hope the extra effort and general cuteness will make up for it.
This is a picture of the back where the coins are attached behind the mickey head.
