We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler Trip, PTR - Page 28 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thank you Cam & Cheryl. My phone is working well now, thank you for asking. It was certainly frusterating having it shut off on me still with battery power.
Thank you, I hope Snapfish works too, or else I will have to see if my computer will let me copy the pictures to a thumbdrive and go with the original plan for an Autograph Book, if not I guess I'll just buy Skyler one when we go to Disney. At least my mom will know the Autograph Book is indeed for Skyler, not his mom who still likes to collect Autographs.
Skyler had a glimpse of some of the rides we will go on and Characters we will meet as I did find a book of Disney with Childrenthat had some great pictures in it. He got so excited he took it right out of my hands and had to look through it at least 25 times before I could point out the rides to him. He is showing some excitement every time we see a Disney Commercial and Itell himthat we will be going there soon. I can't believe he is starting to show excitement given he hasn't been there yet, but maybe it's my excitement that is starting to rub off on him.
I don't know if Shutterfly does this with certain things or not, but I'm pretty sure I get my pictures through regular mail - maybe they'll do that with the book. I can't remember the book I just ordered if it was regular mail or UPS, but I know I get things from them both ways. I hope the autograph books work out one way or another.
The 100 days to Disney party spunds like a really fun-filled day!!
Thank you so much Kelly. They actually said they were't going to give me
a choice for shipping carrier and they would send it through whomever they wanted. DMil had thr same problem with them when thry sent her the pictures she ordered from DBil & DSil's Wedding last year and was frusterated her pictures needed a signature and UPS pulled their lazy delivery method on us. I will contact them and see if they'll take a preferance to send it through thr mail and not require a signature for it. If not they'll lose my business.
Thank you, we can't wait to enjoy our 100 Days til Disney Party.
Erick laughed at me and thought I was weird as I borrowed Skyler's Mickey & Minnie dolls as lucky charms during Game 5 of The Stanley Cup Final and gave them a kiss on the nose for being lucky(sadly I can't find a Blackhawks shirt and Erick's hat is nowhere in sight so I needed something with their colors
and Mickey & Minnie have them). I decided to be nice and not borrow Skyler's Pooh Bear as I didn't want to make him upset. Sorry Flyers fans reading this, but I am hopeful the Blackhawks will get the job done this year(and it has been a Great Stanley Cup Final). I do also believe Michael Jordan being there tonight(my favorite Basketball Player of all time) was a sign of good luck, especially if he could win NBA Finals in The United Center, so can the Blackhawks.
I am completely relieved Snapfish actually gives you your option of shipping method and offers Fedex (yay), so I am going to be ordering this as soon as I possibly can.

I think Kelly is right. Every time I've ordered from both Shutterfly and Snapfish they've been sent to me via USPS and not UPS. As for your book, it's adorable. It turned out so good! I bet you can't wait to get in your hands so you can see it in person.
Melissa, Thank you so much. When I ontacted Shutterfly they said they use aaboth but they don't give the customer a preferance between the two, and I know they sent DMil's pictures via UPS thr last time as we couldn't figure out what company it was. I don't think it's right that they don't give the customer their shipping preferance especially if they have constant trouble with a particular shipping carrier. I checked Snapfish before even before I put Skyler's book together on there and they clearly state which carriers and let the customer know they get their option of shipping carrier and Fedex is listed as
one. Shutterfly sent me a Survey about how their Customer Service was and I gave them my feedback.
I can't wait to order Skyler's Autograph Book and surprise him with it at our first Character Meal. If there was one thing I was really hoping to surprise him with, it was certainly his Autograph Book.
I took a look at Shutterfly's shipping and it looks like standard or priority would be by USPS and others would be UPS.

Thanks Kelly. I really appreciate your help, and Melissa I appreciate your's as well. I re-red the replies they sent me from Shutterfly's Customer Service Department, and the guy clearly stated it was either one or the other but thy don't give a preferance and I think they also go by yhe area too, since they did sed DMil's Pictures here UPS. I don't think you're wrong at all, I just didn't care for the replies they gave me, and actually thought they were a tad bit unprofessional IMHO. Since I know the last time they sent pictures here that required a signature(maybe because a few were questionable pictures of DSil's DBrother, but were just too funny, I won't say what of since it's a family board and know others could take it in a different context than we did).
I could chance it with Shutterfly and pray they'll send it USPS, I just don't want any more frusteration with UPS andthem do nothing if it if they slap those InfoNotice Slips on our door(personally I don't think Erick wants to see the Grizzly Bear again that comes out of me to them again). Honestly I don't have anger management issues, but I'm done with UPS.
Snapfish can at least send it Fedex, give me a tracking number and an a time frame for the day of delivery so I can make sure I am near the door for if it requires a signature and can get to the door when it comes. I am going to order it through Snapfish once Erick gets paid again on Friday and can put that in safe keeping.
Hugs for you both Kelly and Melissa for your help. I truely appreciate it. I just don't want my inner Grizzly Bear coming out again if Shutterfly decides to send it UPS. Not worth it and I would rather be much more excited the day it arrives than a heated mess.
Just joining the report. Boy did I have a lot of catching up to do. What a roller coaster ride you have been on just planning this all out.
My son is a little over 3 1/2 so I can really appreciate your son's behavior.
First off let me say Happy Aniversary, sorry about Sturgis and GO FLYERS.
Sorry you missed out on your Hersey weekend. I don't live too far from there, it is a nice place. Way better than any Six fFlags park. Have you ever heard of Dutch Wonderland? Operated by Hershey and only about 30 minutes from Hersey Park - in Lancaster PA. It is a theme park geared toward children under about 8 years old. I took my son last year and he LOVED it. We are actually going back this weekend for another visit. Check out my TR once I get back to see photos of the park. Anayway just something to consider for a trip for you and Skyler.

Looking forward to the next update. Holly
Hi Holly,
Welcome to the boards, and thank you so much for reading along. Thank you for the Anniversary Wishes, and the Condolances for Sturgis, and I have to commend the Flyers for one heck of a Stanley Cup Final and really making the Blackhawks work (and I have to say the Blackhawks played some sloppy Defense in some of the games, and all of their penalties killed me). Thank you, but Hershey Park is so close by, that we can go back any time really, and we do know the Imagination Movers will be back out this way at some point, so we will get to see them at another time. We actually have not been to Dutch Wonderland yet, and have thought about going. The last time we went to Hershey Park, DSIL wanted to go before she went off to college, and we had promised to take her the summer prior, however I wasn't recovered fully from my C-section with Skyler, so I didn't think I would enjoy it as much. We have however taken Skyler to Sesame Place and love it there too. We may think of taking Skyler at some point to Dutch Wonderland. He is visiting Dinoland with his Grandparents this summer though. We haven't tried Six Flags yet, but then again since the neighborhood it is in would make me feel safe, we are waiting on it. Well the next update is about to come up and it is something I am about to order for the 3 of us for our trip!

Sorry my update is kind of unrelated, but in a way will be related to the trip, but here it goes. I am a total bag of mixed emotions right now, and this is all over the Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup. As a heads up, I don't think Erick has ever seen me get this excited over any of my favorite teams winning a championship of some sort, but he and Skyler (sorry boys) nearly went deaf tonight from me screaming "Yes, Yes, Yes" and "Holy Cow" a million times after that winning goal by Patrick Kane went in the net at the top of my lungs. I did turn to him and appologize profusely for nearly making him go deaf, and said to him "I'm sorry your Flyers lost, and it has been one great Stanley Cup Final. I'm so glad you're a Blackhawks fan so you can enjoy the win with me."
Erick has seen me get overexcited and could hear me well beyond my dormroom, and friends' dorm room when we were in college and Syracuse won the Final Four in 2002 (my sister's Freshman Year, and most of my family was in New Orleans, including my sister), and surprisingly I wasn't this way in 2007 when the Red Sox won the World Series (Skyler was a newborn still and was a sleep in my lap, so I had to contain my excitement), and then the most recent Super Bowl that the Saints won, which I was just beyond excited for Erick, and his parents as this was their first Super Bowl Title ever. I knew I was waiting for the day I would ever see the Blackhawks win a Stanley Cup, and 27 years later it finally happens! I am not only excited, but just can't believe my mom was a tad bit older than Skyler is now the last time they won in 1961 (Mom is 52) and my dad was 8. I just couldn't believe I was sitting with my little lucky charm, Skyler during this all and this truely was the first time I can ever say I have cried tears of joy for any of my favorite sports teams winning a championship of any type. Now it's my beloved Chicago Cubs turn to win a World Series and reverse their curse (If Boston could do it, so can the Cubs).
Now I may have been too sick to truely root on Team USA's Men in their Olympics game vs. Team Canada the day Canada won the Gold Medal, but I am so honored to have 3 of those men representing Team Canada as 3 of my Beloved Blackhawks who just helped win a Stanley Cup for Chicago! Thank you!
So trip related part, since mom is joining us and has also been a life long Blackhawks fan, I now need to order 2 Adult and 1 Kiddo Size Stanley Cup Champion shirts for us to wear one of our 2 days at Disney together! I will order Erick one too (he's a Flyers, Red Wings, & Blackhawks Fan). I will love seeing those shirts in our Disney pictures.
Now not only was it a great day for the Blackhawks, but also the Cubs. Two Chicago Teams in one day! Derrick Lee hit his 300th Home Run. Just truely amazing. Congrats Blackhawks & Derrick Lee!
Becki,
I love the idea of the autograph book. Hope it comes via the method you prefer, & I hope Skyler loves it as much as we do!
Thank you so much Dale. I can't wait to officially order it and get it here(and not beig a bear on the phone, not fun
and after 50+ times of arguing over the phone, enough is enough IMHO). I'm glad you like it. I think the characters will hopefully have fun signing it! That's one keepsake I hope he'll enjoy.
