I LOVE Comedians with Guitars......You didn't tell me that part...COMPLETE 2/28/13 - Page 27 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh my goodness, that dinner at Palo looked divine, especially the lobster! So beautifully presented.
The lobster was good! I just think I expected more there.

it was good. I just wasn't wowed. But I will say brunch on the Dream was awesome! I actually thought there would be more food out at the brunch, but once I started eating, I was fine with what they had. I will be doing that one again.

I love the food and the experience at Palo and much prefer dinner to brunch!!
Yes, I am a cheapy. LOL! I think why should I pay when food is free, but I am glad I tried it. And like I have said, the brunch on the dream was superb, so I will probably try to do it again in the future.

You are right ther too. I am sure it is different on each ship somewhat. Someone on another board told me our server was her favorite one of all the times she has cruise. And I thought he was just OK. So he might've had an off night too, or very flustered with a group of girls.
Off topic.... My plans were to be an updating fool on this TR this week. Well it's not happening like I planned. As some of you know, Skip had another hip replacement in Jan. This is his 3rd in 3 years time. This time it was on a new hip at least. WEll he has been having issues. Not a surprise with this family history. He went yesterday to have it looked at, as the incision was infalmed last week. Well it was infected and they had him report to surgery this morning. They cut out the infection and now he has some sort of sponge thing in him and a wound vac, which will sucking crud out as well as promoting circulation. He HAS to tame it down and not work, which he can't seem to do, or things could get worse. I am hoping he understands that. Depending on the culture results, he may come home tomorrow. If you are a praying person, please think of him and if you aren't please think of him and give him a little pixie dust. He also HAS to stop smoking, at least while this heals. This is VERY hard for him. And of course won't be easy for me as he will be grouchy. It's gonna be a long few weeks here I think. I am sure after a few days, we should get in a routine of me tying him down to the couch so he can't go out to the barn and him throwing a fit, so all will be well!
Thanks for the name of the great beach. I have been reading your other trip report too. I read all I can, it makes it feels closer to my next time back I love going on the Disney cruises so much, I just can't get enough

Thanks. I had really planned to go at this one this week, but it wasn't meant to be. I may try and do an update tonight if I get a free chance. I have a few other things I need to finish off before I allow myself to have some fun.

Thanks everyone. It sounds like he might get out of the hospital tomorrow. But we're not sure. It's actually good they are keeping him. His infection or at least part of it had staph, so they are now switching up meds from what he told me just a bit ago. he is super bored, but eating good. He may come home with an IV too. This is gonna be so much fun. LOL! I need him too come home with chains too so I can strap him to the bed or couch and keep him from doing things he's not supposed to.
Staying in the hospital is one way to make sure he doesn't rush things. Sorry about the infection. They can be very bad. I know the last time I had a bad one, they made me stay in the hospital for three days with an IV antibiotic drip. Glad to hear that he is improving. Here are some pixies for you and him. You both will need the extra strength.

Thanks. he does like to rush things. I sure hope he has had time to think about this while sitting there all day. They changed the sponge thing in the wound today and he said it was REALLY painful. Hopefully that gives him a kick about not getting it dirty then.

Thanks. It's just our luck. We cannot have a smooth surgery at all. I do know, and he swears it's not the reason, that if he would stay still for a few weeks and rest, he probably wouldn't be back in the hospital so many times. But seriously, how many times can this happen and it just be plain bad luck. I am sure he is not helping anything along by working as early has he does.
I believe I actually tried to sleep in a bit today. Which might mean I slept till 7. I think by 7:30 this was the view from our balcony.
That Carnival Ship was still out in the distance
We still had a full sea day left, but it was kind of sad that we were heading home.
Lisa and I got some breakfast.
Rumor is that when the Magic goes in dry dock they are going to take this aft seating out or at least make it smaller. That saddens me. This was our favorite spot to eat every day. It was just beautiful and peaceful.
After we ate we headed to the adult pool area and just sat around and watched the guys work.
We decided to head to the guest service desk and check our accounts. We both paid ours off with cash. I wasn’t sure if I would add anything more to my account, but it was nice not to have it all go on my credit card.
Then of course we headed to the shops.
Lisa was looking for something here, but I don’t remember what or if she found it.
We browsed around and I had been looking at a sweatshirt. It was on sale. Not screaming Disney, but did say Disney cruise line on it. I decided to get one for myself. I don’t have pictures of it. At least not that I remember taking. It’s blue and pretty basic with an Anchor on it, but I liked it and the price was good. I also found one in Claire’s size, also on clearance and grabbed it. Then I thought ….hmm , my niece Abby just had her b-day and her family party was going to be the day after I got home (Sunday). I hadn’t gotten anything yet for her besides a small purse in Cozumel, so I got one for her as well. And I also had been looking at the frame. I bought a few prints last year on the Dream and some were on odd size and I have yet to find a frame to fit them. So I took the plunge and bought one that would fit the picture. I immediately framed it when I got home.
I also debated on getting Abby a Disney gift card. They had the cutest one with a DCL theme on it. But I only wanted it for $10. Just a filler gift. The minimum had to be $25, so I passed on it. I got some candy and a few other small things for Claire and her cousins and added right back to the account I had just paid off.
We then headed back to the room and put away our purchases and went to the pool.
I sat under my favorite spot, the waterfall for a bit.
The other gals were out there again too. The water was a bit cooler today, but still nice and not as high either. We bobbed around in the pool again for an hour or 2 and chatted away. This is the life. I am not a swimmer, but I don’t mind bobbing around and talking on a hot day.
After a while we got hungry so we headed off to Topsiders.
It was a seafood buffet today and also a BBQ on the back deck.
We headed back to our favorite spot and found a table.
MMMMMM! Crab legs!
We enjoyed our meal and as you know, when eating crab legs, it takes a bit to crack them, but it is so worth it. These weren’t the best I ever had, but they were still good.
We never got anything off the BBQ grill, but I did take a couple of pictures.
