Take Me Out to the Mouse House **Updated 4/24** COMPLETE - Page 27 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Somehow I got way behind on your report, but I'm all caught up now!
A few comments:
Ice turds....HI-larious!!
Tumble Monkeys...better be back to flippin' when I get there !
Pictures...BEE-utiful. Seriously, I think you should take up photography for cash! You really have a way of making me feel like I am there and longing for my Disney fix! Like someone said before me, I can hear the music when I look at your parade pics! LOVE IT!
Spagetti and Meatballs with a cute server... (on both counts).
More please!

I do love the FOLK but i cannot believe the monkeys did not perform...ive yet to see that happen. totally odd about the safari stopping for an animal...wonder if it was something semi dangerous cause that sounds odd.
Glad you got to ride EE again though
Thanks for the pic of turd ice because that was a right on description
WPE...i have heard such good things about that place...we may have to try that one out!
I love the pic of the target cart and i've never seen one of those myself....i hope they are moving to those carts for everyone!
Glad to hear the blister was healing and you got some flip flops...see i always pack a suitcase of shoes...i gotta be more like you and let go of a few *LOL*
cant wait to read more!
I love FOTLK, too. When we went in Aug '07, there were no tumble monkeys, and I was bummed. But they were back during our Aug '08 trip, so I'm guessing it's just a fluky thing when they're not there. At least I HOPE it's a fluke!
I will have to try WPE again. We tried it there a few years ago and didn't have such a great experience. Maybe another fluke?
Sorry your plans kept getting foiled at AK. I hope things went better for you at MK!
What an interesting day at the AK. Too bad you weren't on the safari when it went down because it could have been quite amusing! We were on the safari once when a giraffe decided to stand right in front of a truck and not move. We were several trucks back on the safari, but this was on the savanna and we actually had a good view to watch. Well, that giraffe just stood there and stood there, and you would have sworn she/he was doing it on purpose . Our driver told us that they weren't allowed to creep forward with the truck or to try to startle the animal out of the way. They called a trainer who was sent in to try and help. That crazy giraffe, as soon as it saw the trainer's truck it strolled out of the way . Almost as if it knew that the drivers wouldn't/couldn't do anything but these guys would make him/her move. My son and I really got a kick out of it.
No tumble monkeys?? What is up with that?
When we were there in February, they tumbled! Hmmmmmm...... I hope that this is not a "newer" version!
And I have to tell you....when dh and I were there in February, when we were leaving the AK, I told him that I think I knew exactly what I wanted to be when I grew up! I think I finally have decided! I want to the lady bird flying so beautifully in the FOLK show! She is so graceful and so free! Yep - that is what I want to be!
I am really sorry that your foot bothered you so much at AK! But, you were able to get a few good rides in! Sorry about the safari!
Your trip to the local Target sounds successful! Love those shopping carts! The picture is a good one - of a shopping cart!
Only 1 FAB? Maybe that is why you think this trip was not one of your best!
Great update Sharon!

Holy "crap" they do look like Ice Turds!! But your pizza for lunch looks AMAZING . And who are you Psha "Murphy" with all of the luck...or lack thereof...that you had at AK. And, not only do I LOVE the Target cart picture...I am totally jealous that they don't have them at my Target. I spend a lot of time there and when Jason is with me there is ALWAYS a cart involved.
(I responded earlier... but I don't know where it went )
I'm getting caught up. Love the topiary photos. I am wild about the WPE pizza and several other dished there. I think it is like a different place since the rehab and expansion.
Sorry about the blister. I have had them and they are NO fun at all.
The profiteroles looked yummy! I'll have to try them.
I don't really have a comment about the shopping cart. Really, I don't. But if you want to talk nerd, I'll have to find a picture that I took during a stay at the Royal Inn in Lake Buena Vista in 1974. You won't believe that one!

Glad you're blister was healing and you found some shoes to help. Ice turds - very interesting, but not something I want in my drink.
I can't believe how many trips you have coming up. Do you work at all anymore?
Right. I'm just emerging from computer hell, having invested in one of those teeny weeny micro computers. So thanks to remote broadband, I can lie in bed and read trip reports. And as ever your report is fabuloso.
Imagine an American watching a game of cricket and you'll get an idea of how perplexed Matt and I were at Wrigley Field a few years ago. Thanks to that experience, I at least understand your title!
I too am glad to see that the AC Club alumni have been re-deployed. When we were at the American Idol attraction the English recording executive was the bloke who played the British Adventurer, which took away from the credibility but cheered me up that he was still in gainful employment!
Sharon, funny you mention Orlando is where most of the hurricanes hit in Florida. I wouldn't be surprised if all of the shopping carts at Target in Florida were switched to that one since Florida in general is a major target for any hurricane. I haven't seen those shopping carts here by us in Virginia yet, and the one by us DH used to work at.
We had the ice turds as well during our trip. They were interesting but they still crunched so it all worked out (I'm one who will chew/munch on my ice).
Sorry about all the troubles you encountered at AK. Looking forward to the next installment.
