Feelin’ Groovy: A Cam and Luke TR Completed 7/31 - Page 25 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

You and Luke have always taken the cutest photos!!!
Thanks to Pam for taking the pictures of us in Mexico! I didn't realize how bad I looked, but it was SOOO HOT outside. You, of course, look lovely!!
Your meal at La Hacienda looks really good, however, when I went on my solo trip I ate there and wasn't impressed. Maybe it was just an off day, but I'm a little hesitant to try it again. But after looking at your meal and Luke's, I may have to give it another try!!

We have never eaten at that restaurant. From your report and pix of the food, it looks like we will have to put it on our list. Great luck finding the topiary was. Your photo pass pix are beautiful as usual. I don't understand how you guys always look sooo cool.
I wish I had remembered to take a photo of the chocolate cake before I ate it. I blame the fact that we were all getting a bit hot and tired for forgetting.

I took note of the taco sampler as I know that is something my son would like to try....
Luke would definitely recommend this entree!

Your dinner at La Hacienda looked delicious! Love the PP pics that you had taken in the entrance.
I wish I had realized a little sooner what time it was so Pam and Charlotte could have heard at least a complete song by VoL. They were impressed with the few bars of the last song anyway.

Your photopass photos are adorable, especially the last two!
Thanks! It really was a good time to stop for PhotoPass as he had no one else waiting, so he could take some time with us.

You are just too sweet. We've always had good meals and service at La Hacienda, but we've had a few meals throughout WDW that we weren't impressed with. Most we've returned to with better results.

I didn't realize until I was checking my F&GF Passport that we had seen that many.
NEXT: An interesting encounter where I’d never have expected
Day 5 – Thursday, May 12, 2016 Part 1
We decided the night before to have breakfast in the room in order to catch a little more sleep before heading out for another big day. Even sleep in a little longer, we made it to Disney’s Hollywood Studios before EMH was over, giving us a few minutes in the park before the masses. Our timing also led me to the best bag check EVER. As we left the bus stop, I surveyed the bag check lines, discovering that the ones to the far right were nearly empty. I flew in that direction, entering Donald’s line. He was THE coolest security guy I’ve ever interacted with at WDW. The lady on the other side of his line whose bags were being checked before mine had a storm troopers button in her bag. Donald asked her why she wasn’t wearing it. She said she hated to admit it, but she didn’t really like Star Wars, and the pin was for her nephew. Donald and I both gasped that she was anti-Star Wars. When she left, Donald turned to me and said, “I take it you are a Star Wars fan.” I told him I most certainly was and that Yoda was my hero. From that point on in our conversation, he talked just like Yoda. He was so much!
First up once inside was to head to Tower of Terror to use our first FastPass+. The ride was the same as it ever was. It did cause minor nausea for me, but that was gone rather quickly.
Since we were in the area, I told Luke if he felt like riding Rock ‘n Roller Coaster, he could do that while I window shopped. He asked if I was sure since we’d only done one ride so far. I convinced him that I would have fun, so off he went straight to the single rider line. The single rider line had only one person, Luke, and he walked right into the pre-show. When he got to the end of the line in the parking garage, he was sent directly to a seat. Needless to say, I didn’t get much browsing done before he had returned to me.
Here is another of the cool name things at the end of a ride. Luke was smart and got this photo as he exited the ride. He knows me well.
Neither of us could remember the last time we had eaten at Backlot Express, and since our favorite Pizza Planet was down for refurbishment, now seemed a good time to eat here. I was a little apprehensive as it was now right at noon. The last time we ate at Backlot Express we nearly didn’t find a table, wandering the place for at least 10 or so minutes. Finally, a sweet family offered us space at their table. I was really hoping the hard-to-find-table search would not repeat itself this time. Luckily, it did not. Luke opted for the Royal Guard Burger, a 1/3 lb. Angus beef burger, barbecued brisket, and pepper jack cheese. The burger was served with carrot sticks or French fries. He chose the fries. I was in the mood for a salad, specifically the Galactic Chicken Salad made up of mixed greens with chicken, crisp corn tortilla strips, and black bean relish with an avocado and cilantro vinaigrette. Both our meals were very delicious.
Next up was taking a spin on Toy Story Midway Mania with our second FastPass+. Even with our FP+, we had a 10 to 15 minute wait. I earned one of my better scores this time with a total of 120,100 while Luke also did quite well with a total of 165,900. He was also best in vehicle. I truly remember only one time when he wasn’t Best in Vehicle. After the ride, we walked down to the end of the street where the walls have been put up to check out the mural of Toy Story Land.
As we were exiting Pixar Place, we noticed a PhotoPass photographer who needed some subjects.
NEXT: Meeting some new and old friends

I made have made these a little too easy to figure out.
