Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Our DS loves Disney Quest! And Pirates in our favorite! Last year we rode is 4 or 5 times, this year we only got in one ride.

I'm surprised you liked the Aladdain one, that helmet was soooo heavy and I got claustrophobic, not to mention motion sickness, I had to take off my helmet before the ride was over!

Can't wait to read more!

I'm glad someone else loves Living with the Land. It was being renovated in September when Victoria and I went so we missed it. I remember riding it when I was a little girl with my dad so it is a very nostalgic ride for me.

Epcot is always great, and the Beverly face cracks me up every time I see it. I wonder how Victoria would feel if I framed it and put it up in the house.

Loved all your updates, sounds like a couple of fun days so far and some new things (Typhoon Lagoon) and some relaxing days too (Disney Quest). Can't wait to read more.

I was happy to share the homecoming. Most people have never been to one, and I thought this was a good opportunity for people to see what happens...at least what happens at Fort Hood. I had never been to one until this past year since we are new to the Army, and I actually had never thought about it before. It's a wonderful experience!

You know, the first time I ever rode Aladdin, I didn't like it because of the helmet. This time, I think I fitted it on my head better, and I didn't have a problem with it. Perhaps that was the difference. Pirates is definitely our favorite. We never tire of it. It is so much fun! We also really like designing and riding our own roller coasters. We see who can make the most insane coaster. It's fun!

Thursday, October 29, 2009 - Part 2

I saved all of our receipts for the F&WF so I could remember everything we got and now I can't find them anywhere. Good grief! I'll find them after I've finished the TR. I know I forgot to take pictures of everything, but hopefully I'll be able to remember what we had. Here goes!

We went to the WS, and the first booth we stopped at was Santiago, Chile.

We shared everything we got because we wanted to try as much as possible without stuffing ourselves silly. We ordered the Corn and Cheese Arepa from Chile. It was pretty good!

Athens was calling my name!

I almost forgot to take a picture of the Greek Salad with Pita Bread (I think that's what we got!). At least you can see a little of it. It was yummy good!

There was a little duck nearby begging food off of people. We aren't supposed to feed the animals. I know that. You know that. But my sweet DH couldn't resist the little fellow.

Montreal, Canada, was our next stop, and believe it or not, we did NOT get the Cheddar Cheese Soup! Nope! We got the Maple Glazed Salmon with Lentil Salad. Victoria didn't really care for it. Michael and I loved it! It was fabulous!

I grabbed a few pictures of Canada while we ate. I never can resist Victoria Gardens.

It was really, really hot...stifling. Michael had never seen Oh Canada! So, we decided to watch the film. We didn't mind waiting for the next film since we got to sit down in the A/C. Canada really is a beautiful country, and we enjoyed the movie. Once the movie was over, we braved the heat outdoors again.

Our next stop at the F&WF was Cork, Ireland. This had to be one of my favorite places we went to, if not my absolute favorite. I'm a lover of any kind of cheese so we got the Kerrygold Cheese Selection: Aged-Irish Cheddar, Dubliner and Vernia Cheese with Apple Chutney and Brown Bread. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

I took pictures of WS while we ate.

We walked around the UK a little and browsed the shops.

France ~

We were on the hunt for Marie from the Aristocats. We knew she should be appearing somewhere in France because we saw her leaving when we first got to the area. We sort of hung out around the area for a while. We decided to see "Impressions of France" while we waited for her arrival. On the way to the movie, we say this act. We really liked it. I just wish it hadn't been so blooming hot!

We went to see the film and after we sat down, the hosts came to the front of the auditorium and sang "Happy Birthday" in French to everyone celebrating a birthday - that included Victoria! How fun! They were hilarious and loads of fun. It was a great way to start the film. I always like watching this movie. France is so beautiful! I hope to get to visit one day.

After the movie, we walked out and whom do you think we spotted coming out for a meet and greet? None other than Marie! We were first in line! We told Marie we had been looking everywhere for her. She was flattered. Victoria got her to sign her sketchbook even though she hadn't drawn her yet.

Marie told Victoria to stand like a prissy kitty, so she obliged. Marie set Michael and me up as a couple. It was cute. She was quite the boss!

We said goodbye to Marie and went to La Patissierie in France. Michael and I decided to share a ham and swiss cheese croissant, and Victoria wanted chocolate mousse. Check-out was interesting. Michael saw a table outside, so he snagged it and waited for me. Victoria got her mousse easy enough. I wanted the croissant toasted. When the girl brought it back to me, it looked a little on the burned side...that's being nice. I took it anyway. The line was way out the door, and I didn't want to be a pest. When I went to pay, the cashier asked me if my croissant looked a little burned to me. I told her it did. She told me to tell the girl to fix me another one. So, I took the croissant back to the girl and told her the cashier wanted her to fix me another one. The girl did, and it basically looked the same way...perhaps a little less "dark." I went back to the cashier, and she was mad! She said it really wasn't hard to fix a croissant the "correct" way, and she didn't want me to have a bad impression of their French food. She told me that she would fix one for me the "right" way. She soon came back with a lovely croissant. I paid for our stuff and she told me I could keep the other croissant the other girl fixed, too. It was quite humerous, but I was thankful for the cashier who wanted me to have my food fixed correctly and really enjoy it. So, here is the croissant done the "wrong" way:

And here it is done the "right" way:

Victoria had already begun eating her chocolate mousse, but I was able to get a picture before it was too far gone.

UP NEXT: More from the F&WF and Epcot!!!

A couple of great updates from Epcot…and your only part way through your day! I am really enjoying this one. First of all Living with the Land has always been one of my favorite rides. I don’t even know why, but I just love it! And I am loving the pics and descriptions of the food you had at F&WF. You have had all foods that I didn’t have when we went (except for the Greek salad which was delish). The Salmon and the cheese plate and the croissant look FABULOUS. Maybe they look extra good because I am writing this on my lunch break while I try to stretch out the mini-portion of Salisbury steak in my Weight Watchers Smart Ones lunch! LOL.

(I am having a totally spoiled rotten day and feeling sorry for myself that we won’t be going back until 2011…and I know how bad that sounds…but your TR is helping)
