The This TR Won’t Take Me a Year to Finish (aka Disney with Extended Family) Trip Report - UPDATED 5/22 w/ AK and Tusker House - Page 24 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

What cute little pirates! I'm so glad they came out with a "boy's version" of the BBB, as that was an incredible experience for DD. She's turning 10 this year and is begging me to do it again! I agree with you on the make-up. DD also gets her face painted once each trip. And while she loves wearing it for a while, she is ready to wash it all off within an hour or so. And that's in November!
Don't feel bad about not liking the Dole Whip. To tell you the truth, I don't love them either. You really have to be a pineapple fan to dig it. I'd choose a Mickey Bar instead any day!
I do love Pirate's League. It was awesome. I am willing to try a Dole Whip again, but Mickey Bars are way better.

I think your boys would love Pirate's League. I'm glad to hear that other people are not fond of pineapple either. I thought I was the only one.

Those earrings were cool, but both boys were complaining about how much pain they were in because of them. Definitely too hot for the makeup in the summer. Good call Andrew.

The boys looked amazing. Looks like they had a great time too!
Thanks. I think it's so cool that your girls want to be pirates. I saw some girls in there.

Thanks. I love your new sig. pic of Dylan. He is just adorable. Look how big he's getting! How's that new baby coming along?
OK, Liz, it's a good thing this TR took you so long to write, because it took me that long to find it! I'm glad I did and had fun catching up. Looks like everyone is having a great time so far. Now that I'm all caught up, it's OK to continue.

After Pirate's League we had to ride POTC. This is definitely one of the boys' favorites.
Once the ride was over, we played in the store and got some autographs. My sister had called and said that she (along with her DH and 2 DD's) would be meeting us shortly.
As we were waiting to meet Captain Hook (and is the other one called Captain Smee? I apologize for my ignorance) we encountered our first rude guest (or at least the first that I remember). There was a huge line to meet them and of course since it was scorching hot, they had to take a couple of breaks. Needless to say, we (along with a lot of other people) waited a very long time to meet them. Well, this lady comes out of no where (with her daughter) and just walks right up to them. I tried to politely say that we were next, but she was not listening. Well, Mom is not as patient as I am (and thank God for that). She told the lady we've all been waiting and she had to go to the back of the line (some other people joined in telling her too). The lady (don't even feel comfortable calling her a lady) was still not listening and proceeded to try to push us out of the way and was calling us all sorts of names. That's when Mom reported her and she was escorted out. She eventually did leave, but not without calling us a few more names. It's so sad that people act like this at all, but really sad that they don't think twice about acting like this in front of all these children.
I think Jared is staring at the rude lady here. He's like Mommy and gets a little nervous about confrontation.
It was finally time to meet up with DSis and her family. I was excited to see them and I knew the kids were going to have a blast together, but I was nervous too since DMom and DSis don't always get along so great. I knew we were in for some very interesting times to say the least.
At this point we were all a little hungry. We didn't want to eat a big meal since we knew we'd be having dinner at Chef Mickey's later. Since we were right by El Pirata y el Perico and we had never been, we decided to check it out. That's where DSis met up with us. I don't remember what we all got, but I think we shared some tacos and maybe a taco salad. We all thought the food was pretty good.
DNiece6- Shea
DNiece 10-Brianna (just a quick side note, Brianna will be in a movie coming out this October called The Miracle of Spanish Harlem, she will be playing the eldest daughter Samantha.)
Sorry, I didn't get pictures of the food since I still didn't have my camera and was relying on Mom for pictures. She wasn't too found of taking food pictures..
After lunch, it was time for our BTMRR fastpasses. Turns out DSis and her family had fastpasses too. Aidan was excited because this would be his first time on. We had a hard time getting there since the parade was coming through.
We finally made it to the other side of the parade with a few minutes to spare before our fastpasses. We passed the time by just hanging out and letting the kids catch up since they don't see each other very often.
This guy is not part of our family, but he just wouldn't get out of our way. Too cute.
After all the waiting, we were finally ready to ride BTMRR. Imagine our disappointment when we walk over to it and find out that it would be shut down for probably the rest of the day.
Oh well, we weren't happy, but since it was only our third day (with 11 more to go), we knew we would have plenty of time to ride. Now try convincing a 3 year old, lol. Aidan was not very happy.
I don't remember what else we did at MK (probably some shopping), but soon we were saying goodbye to DSis and her family and heading over to CR to dinner at Chef Mickey's.
As this next guy was approaching our table, Mom yelled out "Oh, Daisy you are so cute. I love you. Come over here."
Well, as you can see and anyone other than Mom can see, this is definitely NOT Daisy. That explains why everyone including Donald, could not stop laughing.
With Aidan.
Somewhere in between the characters, we all managed to find room for dessert. Mom managed to only get one picture.
Mickey was next.
I knew Aidan was dying to see Mickey, so I tried waking him up. He opened his eyes, take a look at him, and then fell asleep again. He must've thought he was dreaming. It was so cute.
Great updates Liz, love seeing the pictures of you and your sister and the kids all together. Hoping that family peace remains throughout the trip. Love the boys all dressed up as pirates. Sorry that you had do deal with that rude person, we have had our share, and it is really sad when people just don't take aminute to thin of anyone else. Looking forward to hearing more.
Once again, they celebrated Jared's birthday with a cupcake. I had added this celebration to one of our ADR's (it might've been CM's), but somehow it got linked to almost all of our ADR's.
Jared wasn't complaining.
Overall, we loved Chef Mickey's. The food was really good and the characters were great! It was so much better than last year and it's the one place Mom keeps talking about to this day.
After dinner, we did a little more shopping at CR. Soon, we were on our way back home to SSR.
This picture of Jared sums up how we all felt after such a long and fun-filled day.
