As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love the pictures from CRT since I've never been inside the castle. Sounds like it was a wonderful morning at the MK. Don't you just love getting stuck on some of the cool rides? Makes it easier to take pictures.

I hear you on the rowdy teenagers but sometimes the 'magic' of the moment gets to the best of us- I remember a few rides with a group of PP'ers that got kind of rowdy ( Pirates, Winnie the Pooh) where I am sure we disturbed everyone esle on the ride! Good lesson to remember, I guess
The Boardwalk looked amazing. I do like the resort but had a bad experience, but I am thinking I have to give it a try again. Love the tag team reporting and the pictures. The Snow White thing had me laughing. What a great time so far! Looking forward to more girls!

Friday 1 May – part three: what do you mean it’s not ready yet?
We walked into Frontierland and saw Donald Duck in his Davy Crockett outfit, with just one family waiting. I was sure that meant that they had cut the line, but they hadn’t. I couldn’t believe our luck. We had so much fun with Donald, who was really playing with the Photopass photographer. At one point, Donald even play kicked the photographer. He was certainly a bundle of fun today! It was great character interaction and I’m glad we stopped to see him.
Our next stop was a Wendy request, the County Bear Jamboree, which is her favourite. There was only a four minute wait, so in we went. It’s fun, but not something I d o that often, but I did get a kick out of it and how much Wendy enjoyed it.
From there, we headed into Adventureland to ride Pirates of the Caribbean, but there was a 30 minute wait and it did look busy, so we decided against it.
We had to make our way to the front of the park, as we didn’t have long before our spa appointment time.
I stopped off at the Emporium, where I got a fridge magnet and some scrapbooking stuff. We stopped for a Photopass picture on the way out and then we had to say goodbye to Joy, but she would be at the quest tomorrow, so we would see her again.
We headed to get the launch and missed one, but only had a few minutes to wait for the next one. This is just such a relaxing way to travel and something I love to do at Disney.
Amazingly, by the time we got to the Grand Floridian, it was already 12.50 and almost time for our spa appointment, so we headed that way quickly, or as quickly as we could in the heat. It was getting pretty hot, although it wasn’t getting to Wendy at all, but it was getting to me. I was very glad to get inside the spa and inside their nice air conditioning. The second we stepped in there, I immediately started to feel relaxed. We were checked in by a woman from Chichester in England, which was neat.
We were taken through to the ladies’ waiting area and I got changed into the dressing gowns that they provide here. Then we settled down to enjoy sticking our tired feet into the hot tub. No sooner then we had put our feet in there and we both got called for our soothing legs treatment. I had had this once before a few years ago and had really enjoyed it, but as we went through, Wendy told me that she hadn’t had anything like this before. She certainly enjoyed it, even if it was a bit ticklish at times.
I loved my treatment, although I did find the pressure bit much at times on my bad ankle. It didn’t help that I had had hit it yesterday on the plane, so it was playing up a bit. Isn’t it the way that when something like that happens, it’s always the bad ankle?!
When we finished, we went back to the waiting room, feeling very refreshed and just relaxed. After a while, we headed into the hot tub to soak our feet for a while and then it was time to head out. This had been such a lovely treat and I’m glad we did this. It was a lovely start to our vacation. We paid our bills (love that DVC discount! ) and then it was out into the heat, although by now, there was a breeze, so it felt a bit cooler out.
We headed back into the main building and saw a wedding taking place, which was neat, although as I said, my goodness, they must have some serious money for that!

We headed over to the monorail and managed to hop on the one that was there. I didn’t think that we’d make it, but fortunately, they were loading a wheelchair, so we had plenty of time. We got off at the Contemporary and it was such a nice feeling to know that we were staying here, as usually we just tend to park here and that’s it.
However, our dreams were crushed when we went to check in and were told that the room wasn’t ready yet. We asked how much longer it would be and I was not impressed when the woman said that it could be between 3.00 and 5.00. I made a point of saying that we had dinner at 5.00 and we needed the room before then. We got as far as her saying that it should be ready by 4.00. I’m sorry, but in my book, check in time is check in time and it’s the time that it should really be available. I don’t know why Disney can’t do that, as you’d expect it from any other hotel.

Oh my GOSH! I LOVE THE COUNTRY BEARS!! You know you have great friends(old and new)when they will put up with your love of the cheeky!! IMHO, the Country Bear Jamboree is the finest attraction ever at WDW and if they did away with it, I'd be completely crushed. It was such a great way to get over the run in with that woman(you know, the one with the 7 male "friends").
Hoofing it to the front of the park, I was starting to get a blister because I was wearing sandals---I wanted me feet to "breathe". Well that was the last time I wore sandals to the parks during the day! I was hot and getting miserable by the time we got to the GF and saw we needed to book it quickly, but we did make it there with plenty of time, didn't we?
I'm SO ticklish on my feet and well, I got embarrassed because I don't think any of those ladies had any one react that way! Great fun. Relaxing. But the best part was just "chilling" out in the lounge drinking the gallons of water!
You know, when we got over to the Contemporary, saw the non-existent line at check in, I thought this was the start of something awesome, only to be shattered by her insisting that the room wouldn't be ready until from 3-5pm! It was only about 2:20pm by that time I think. Ah well, it does work out in the end. But this day, which started out great with the swim was starting to turn into a comedy of errors............................................ .....................
I'm a few updates behind but first...WOW you guys got up at 5:00am!! I am impressed. I really wish I had it in me to get up that early because the early bird really does catch the worm at disney when you get up early. How nice to have such a great swim before you start the day!
The last time we ate at CRT we had terrible service. The only thing we could figure was that it was crowded and we were without children. But the food more than makes up for that...especially the stuffed french toast!
The spa sounded like a nice way to break up your day! Although, i do hate that about your hotel....last septemember we ran into the same situation and we were really upset that when staying at a deluxe resort our room was not ready on time even though they didnt seem to be crowded at all!!

Great updates! Sorry your service at CRT was lacking. We used to eat there often until they changed it to a fixed price princess meal. My son has no interest in eating with the princesses and the price is a bit ridiculous now. Your spa treatments sound wonderful. Glad you had the chance to pamper yourselves!
I have been hearing alot about rooms not being ready at check in at the resorts so I hope this isn't a new trend. I agree that the rooms should be ready at check in time!
