10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 23 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! The way that works best for me, and I've actually tried several different methods, is to write up notes in a notebook small enough to carry in my bag during our park touring. When waiting in lines or taking a break, I pull it out and jot down what all we've done since the last update. It's a mix of bulleted items, sentences to recall vivd moments, and notes to self. I type up the updates from my notes and photos on the day I intend to post. Photos I edit prior to starting the TR, but they aren't uploaded to flickr.com until right before I need to post them.
Somewhat similar to the way I do it with the notes. I just don't have an exact day I plan to post. I strive for two updates per week as only usually have time for this many.

My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
Just got caught up. I have to add to the list of PP's that agree , you did get a lot of bang for your buck in the tour. I enjoyed hearing about all of the house of horrors!
As for TR writing, I do write mine in Word first and copy paste over and then insert my pictures. It does take a lot of work (I know that now).
It was quite an event and definitely got my money's worth with so much packed in! It helped having a great guide and group. Even with so much there was still ample time for breaks and relaxing.
I write it up and in the meantime I'm pasting the photos in the update I'm writing. I edit it then copy over to my thread add emoticons and post.

Thanks for sharing how you do the reports. Having done a fair amount myself back in the day (it’s probably been years now), I know how time consuming and involved they can be! But we sure do appreciate you sharing them with us!

Thursday, October 5th (Part VII) After our tour concluded, I went on my way for some other discoveries at Halloween Horror Nights. This included a few attractions as I had the Unlimited Express Pass and the remaining Scare Zones I had yet to see. I was near the Harry Potter area and I walked to the Men in Black attraction, which was close by.
The line wasn’t too bad inside and I got on rather quickly. I don’t remember exactly what my score was but it was better than earlier in the day. It’s a fun attraction by shooting at targets to get points like Buzz and TSM in Disney.
After this, I walked where I had just come from as there was a Scare Zone I wanted to see. It’s located on the streets in front of the London themed area of Harry Potter. This one is called “Invasion” and possibly the best Scare Zone of the night. Here’s the synopsis: “The year is 1955, and a UFO has crashed onto the wharf. Their goal: to conduct experiments upon you to prepare to invade Earth.”
The fog and lighting were amazing and gave the area and eerie effect.
Have I just entered The Twilight Zone? It did remind me of the several episodes involving invasions from other worlds!
The zone was done so well with the characters and the many effects to enhance the experience. I never felt scared but it felt so eerie and bizarre with everything.
I like this one!
Great lighting with the fog effects!
After taking in this zone for a while, I continued to my next Scare Zone, which wasn’t that far away. This one is “The Purge” and based on the movie series. Here’s the description: “The Purge has returned to Halloween Horror Nights and overrun New York. No one is safe. Be a part of a proud American tradition. United we purge.”
Very cool looking car.
He’s kind of menacing and scary!
YIKES!
I enjoyed this zone but it wasn't as good as some of the others. The premise of the movie is that once a year for a 12 hour period beginning at 7 pm, everything is legal. Emergency services are not available during this time.
After I got enough from this zone, I saw that The Mummy attraction was behind this zone and decided to give it a go for the fourth time today! The line wasn’t bad and was enjoyable as always. One of my favorite attractions in Universal and not a simulator ride!
I sought out my next destination for an attraction and my final scare zone of the night. I went on the attraction first as the two were located near each other. This was a coaster and quite an intense one and probably too intense at times! This is the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit. It’s fast, thrilling, with serious drops and inversions! There was a good size line for it and prior to entering the queue I had to store my belongings in a locker.
The Express Pass line was about ten minutes and long for this line tonight and especially as the park will be closing in an hour as it’s around 1 am. It was quite thrilling and when I was on it, I was wondering what I had gotten myself into as it was extremely intense, but a great coaster.
Doesn’t it look menacing?
After disembarking this attraction, I walked nearby to my last Scare Zone of the night. This is “Altars of Horror.”
I must make a CORRECTION as I stated in a previous post, when I entered Universal for this event that the Scare Zone I encountered was “Altars of Horror.” It wasn’t as it was “Festival of the Deadliest.” I have corrected that post on Page 18 in #267. Here it is if interested.
Now, the description for “Altars of Horror.” “Enter the nexus of evil, where all the most fearsome characters and nefarious creatures from each of the Halloween Horror Nights haunted houses lie in wait.”
I’m sure you’ll recognize him earlier from “The Purge.”
The scary twin girls from “The Shining.”
My evening was just about over but I wanted to visit the Universal store and possibly get a tee shirt of tonight’s event as I’d seen many park guests with them on tonight. I looked around inside and they had a good supply of these and decided to get one. I browsed for a bit more, but didn’t see anything else I liked. I made my purchase and left the store.
Here’s what my shirt looks like!
Front
Back
I made my way towards City Walk to get a water taxi back to the Royal Pacific. It was a bit after 1:30 am and been another long day. Before leaving, I got a few last photos for the evening.
I walked over to the NBC Sports restaurant, where the boat dock was. I was happy to see one was just arriving! There were several people waiting and it was about half full before we departed for the Royal Pacific. Quite a few for this late at night. It was an uneventful ride and we were back in about five minutes. We arrived close to 2 am and I went to my room immediately as it was quite a long, tiring but amazing and action packed day and enjoyed it so much!
I’ll probably sleep in tomorrow a little, even though the plan is for my first ever visit to Sea World. I should have plenty of time to spend there.

What a great ending to your night! You aren't kidding that it was another late night! I hope you're able to sleep in tomorrow!
I enjoyed the various scare zones and the attractions as well. Can't believe I able to get three attraction in plus three scare zones in about 1 1/2 hours. I hoping to as well as I could use it!

Universal really goes all out for the scare factor in their Halloween events.
I had an amazing time and would most definitely do it again! They do a great job with the scare factor, effects and overall theming! I have no complaints!

I used to write up my TRs while standing in line for rides etc., but as I was using shorthand, it meant I had to translate it at a later date and then type it up. I just got to the stage where I figured it was easier to type it up in the first place and cut out the "middle man".

I really hope you got to sleep in the next day. What a long day that was! HHN looks like it could be a lot of fun for someone that doesn't mind being scared (I'm not that person  ) I'm looking forward to your Sea World day as I haven't been there since my senior trip in high school.
Wow another long day, pretty soon you will need a vacation from your vacation. You sure accomplished a great deal again today, Universal really does the horror theme well.
The event looks incredibly well done, Dave. I hold a grudge against Universal for their "front of the line ticket" practice, but I'm glad they are putting out a nice product!
Thanks for sharing how you do the reports. Having done a fair amount myself back in the day (it’s probably been years now), I know how time consuming and involved they can be! But we sure do appreciate you sharing them with us!
Somehow I missed this one as I probably had just posted my update.
These TRs take a lot of time and organization but I enjoy doing them for my own benefit and seeing my trip adventures. I also enjoy sharing them with everyone here and I know you all appreciate them!

You got a good point about that. Plus now as not having to do that you can enjoy your day more!
No more scares left as the Halloween Horror Nights portion is now over, which will be a relief to you! This event is not for everyone.
