A Promise Kept: A Cam and Fam PTR Updated 10/9 - Page 23 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

How great you'll be able to meet your nephew's fiancé.
Thanks! We haven't gotten to see our nephew much when we are down so I'll be excited to see him, too.

Glad they finally put out the hours for the Galactic Spectacular. I sure don't understand this dragging it out so much!
This scheduling of stuff has reminded me so much of how late it was before I could plan some of our DL stuff. They do have times up for the DHS characters, e.g. Chewie and Kylo Ren for September, but nothing yet for October.

I truly thought 8:00 would be way too late and they'd not be able to make it, but I think you are right they are young so it doesn't seem late to them.
Sorry about Luke's aunt! How great you'll be able to meet your nephew's fiancé!
Thanks! The celebration of life service was so uplifting that neither of us left feeling sad.

The Magic Bands are so fun looking! I probably missed this somewhere but why do you have two extra ones?! COULD YOU POSSIBLY BE SURPRISING ME AND TAKING ME AND LILLY ALONG?!?!
The two extra bands are our AP Magic Bands, and sadly for you one is linked to me and one to Luke. The other two for Luke and me are our regular trip Magic Bands. We could have declined one or the other, but we wanted two colors to change up with our outfits.

I loved all the magic bands especially the AP ones with the slider!!! I must try to order them for our Spring trip. Is there a link on the My DisneyExperience page that allows you to order those specifically?
Luke had mentioned when we got back in May that we'd not get to rest much this trip, but we could when we get home.
The AP sliders can be customized on your MDE page on the website. I hadn't thought about getting any until I went on to customize the Vaughns bands and there was a link.
An Extensive List of Food and Beverages to Try at the Food and Wine Festival
Usually around late May to early June, I begin to regularly check out Disney Food Blog for any Food & Wine Festival news. I love looking over the menus for each of the food booths, checking out the photos of items, and then writing up a list of what I’d like to try. I have noted after each item whether I have had it before or if it is new to me.
Africa: Butter Chicken with Micro Cilantro and Naan Bread (new)
Australia: Grilled Lamb Chop with Mint Peso and Potato Crunchies (repeat) and Lamington-Yellow Cake dipped in chocolate and shredded coconut (repeat)
Belgium: Belgian Waffle with Warm Chocolate Ganache and Whipped Cream (repeat; favorite)
Brazil: Carnaval Moscato Sparkling White Wine (repeat; favorite)
Canada: “Le Cellier” Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with Truffle-Butter Sauce (repeat; favorite) and Neige Premiere Apple Ice Wine (repeat)
The Chew (a new booth): Grilled Beef Skewer with Romaine, Apricots, and Feta Cheese (new; I don’t like Apricots and Luke does not like Feta Cheese so I see us separating parts of this for what we each like.)
China: Chicken Pot Stickers (repeat)
Chocolate Studio: Ghirardelli Chocolate Raspberry Truffle (I think new because I can’t remember having it.) and Rosa Regale Sweet Sparkling Wine (repeat; favorite)
Desserts and Champagne: Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial (repeat)
Farm Fresh: Loaded Mac ‘n Cheese (new)
France: Boeuf Bourguignon—Braised Short Ribs (repeat) and St. Germain Sparkling Kir (new)
Germany: Schinkennudeln – Pasta Gratin with Ham and cheese (repeat) and Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling (repeat)
Greece: Spanakopita (repeat)
Hawai’i: Kalua Pork Slider (repeat) and Florida Orange Groves Sparkling Pineapple Wine (repeat for Luke; new for me)
Hops and Barley: Smoked Beef Brisket and Pimento Cheese on Griddled Garlic Toast (new)
Ireland: Warm Chocolate Pudding with Irish Cream Liquor Custard (repeat) and Bunratty Mead Honey Wine (sort of a repeat as we have had it at a beverage seminar.)
Islands of the Caribbean: Mojo Pork with Black Beans, Cilantro Rice, and pickled red onions (new)
Italy: Prosecco (new)
Japan: Nothing
Mexico: Nothing
Morocco: Moroccan Sangria (repeat)
New Zealand: Seared Venison Loin with Wild Mushroom Marsala Sauce and Kumara Dumpling (new)
Patagonia: Grilled Beef Skewer with Chimichurri Sauce and Boniato Puree (repeat though when I had it the booth was Argentina.)
Poland: Nothing
Scotland: Nothing
South Korea: Nothing
Wine and Dine Studio: Artist Palette of Wine and Cheese (new) and Conundrum White Blend 25th Anniversary (new)
You will have noticed that a few of the booths I have nothing selected. Each of those booths does have something Luke will want to try and I’ll probably take a few nibbles of whatever he gets. But there are no items that I want a full serving of. I will try my best to take photos of the foods and beverages we ultimately choose. Until then here is a link to Disney Food Blog for listing and soon after the F&WF opens they will add photos.
The list is definitely EXTENSIVE, but we do have three Epcot days to partake of the booths, so I'm hoping we make a big dent in this list before we head home. You'll have to tune into the trip report to see what we actually ate and drank.
OK, I just finished dinner...and my tuna salad sandwich and garden salad pales in comparison to the things on this list! (but for a miserably hot work day, it was perfect)

Your list is very similar to my list. Although I have added the shrimp tacos from Mexico which we both love and usually get at least a couple of times. We normally hit the festival at least 5 or 6 days some lunches and some dinners! Can't wait for the pictures to come out and to read your report as you will have many of the same things on your list!
Looks like you are just 3 weeks away.
