Me, Muffin and WDW for Xmas stuff!! PTR - Page 23 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

That manicure sounds interesting. And I just cancelled my Sci Fi breakfast. Too many ADRs, not enough cash lol!
This is always tough, when you get in the Disney spirit and want to do this and that and unfortunately, the finance portion of it gets in the way! I've cancelled some adrs for this reason and it's always a breakfast as I won't sacrifice my dinner adrs, I'm quite sure I've had dinner adr for every day I've ever stayed in WDW and that's 11 trips! I just may switch them around a bit and go for a lower cost adr vs a sig as it can get quite expensive with too many sig ressies!

You did a great job on the painting! Very cute!
Your AK day sounds good! And dinner at Sanaa should be excellent!
Thanks, Donna!! . Honestly, I know my painting is not fabulous, but it's kind of homey and better than anything I ever thought I could paint. Well, we sort of changed dinner at Sanaa already due to some issues Muffin has with the menu at Sanaa.

I agree about the holiday decorations at AK. I just love them! And AK and AKL have the best trees, too.
Honestly, Laurie, I bought this dress last tear when we went to Chicago and totally forgot about. If I can get a decent picture of it posted, you will see why.. I AK and AKL at Christmas so much!!!!!!!

Apparently, Dave, I can go wrong with Sanaa. . I will have to make this restaurant a must do on my trip sans Muffin next year.

I'll have to let you know how it was, Amy. Maybe you can do it with your Dad if it's really cool. I promise to be honest!!
So! We made just a small change, as I alluded to in my previous post! I think, since I do most of the planning, Muffin is very hesitant to tell me that a restaurant just will not work for him.. This makes me very sad, since I try to be mindful of his food allergies and I honestly do share the menus with him before we book a restaurant. Still, I think he wants to make me happy and he can see when I am excited about something whether I try to downplay it or not. After all, we have been married for 32 years!. Anyway!!
I have been dying to try Sanaa and brought up the subject and reviewed the menus with Muffin for the last few trips. This time around, when we looked at the menu, Muffin honestly thought there were a few things on it that he could eat. So he told me to go ahead and book it. This will sort of end up like the iPad story, but it was fine for about a week. Then today, he said that he honestly didn't think that he could eat there and could we please go back to booking an ADR at the Flying Fish Cafe instead for the Chef's Wine Tasting Dinner?
This was fine with me because I am planning a couple of trips next year with other peeps, so I will get to Sanaa eventually!! I swear I will do it!! So! What does this mean?!?!?
Essentially, I was able to reschedule the Flying Fish for 11/30 for the Chef's Wine Tasting Dinner and that is that. We are keeping our plans for the day the same, so we will still do AK all day. We will have to leave the park around 4:00 PM to get ready for dinner and then we will drive to the Boardwalk for our ADR. We may hang out at the Boardwalk after dinner orwe may head back to AKL. We'll see how we feel.
I can so feel your pain here. Our thing is Raglan Road. I know it will be good, and even though I book it, it just never seems to happen! I am looking forward to hearing about the Chefs tasting!
Sad to hear you're not doing Sanaa, but happy to hear you'll get there eventually. I understand if Muffin's allergies don't leave him much to eat, it wouldn't be very enjoyable for him. What in addition to dairy is off limits?

Sorry, that you won't be doing Sanaa on this trip as it may well be the real hidden gem in WDW for dining Amazing as the cuisine is so good and not a siggie! I too like Flying Fish and would like to do the chef's table there eventually!

I can really understand someone with food sensitivities and allergies not feeling comfortable with the Sanaa menu. Although I know the AKL chefs are all brilliant at dealing with all kinds of allergies, the tastes there may just not appeal to Muffin. I know the Wine menu at FF will be fabulous!
Glad you were able to get it rescheduled. Mark isn't a fan of Sanaa, so it's been some time since we were last there, as it just doesn't do anything for him.

Thanks, Amy! I appreciate the support. I was actually very sad to cancel the Chef's dinner, so this will work out fine!

Oh boy, Colleen! He doesn't do well with Indian food. African food is just fine and the chef's at AKL are amazing, but he doesn't like a fuss. He can basically eat any fish as long as l=there is no cream sauce, so I honestly think he is just plying it safe. I know from too many experiences, vacation is no fun with a husband who spends his time in the bathroom.

It's a good trade for us, Dave. I am going to get to Sanaa, however!

Awww, thanks, Laurie! You always know what to say. I agree the chefs at AKL are wonderful, but Muffin hates the fuss.

Thanks, Marnie!! It's true, we are so busy, but I am enjoying it all immensely!!
This weekend continues to be phenomenal!! We had an awesome time at the cookout, the Eagles won and Sean and Jane's house is coming along nicely!! They are really making a home for themselves. Here are a few random photos from the weekend:
Uncle Tom and Me
Aunt Franny, Terri and Annie
Christina and Andrew
Out with Sean and Jane
Sean and Muffin
Me and Jane
This is Sean and Jane's house:
Here are also some more photos from Niagra Falls!! It took me a while to figure out my new laptop!
These are from the Butterfly Conservatory:
Today, Muffin and his brother had to go to Nashville overnight and everyone else had to work, so I took my California relatives to King of Prussia mall. We had a wonderful lunch at Bahama Breeze. We all had Chicken tortilla soup and there wasn't a drop left in anyone's bowl! I had shrimp and lobster quesadillas and a delicious rum drink flight which consisted of a Bahama Mama, a Bahamian Sunset and a Goombay Smash. All three were amazing and just enough. My cousin Steven got an Adobo Chicken street taco dish and the same rum flight as me. My Aunt Franny got a 1/2 Cuban pork sandwich, my cousin Terri got a pulled pork street taco and my cousin Annie got just the soup. The girls all had an iced tea. Everyone enjoyed their lunch immensely and we got to sit on the patio and eat. Today was a perfect day to do that at 70 degrees with a nice breeze and lots of sun. They play Caribbean music and it is really hard to be in a bad mood here!!
Tonight. Lilly and I are just chilling. I have also been doing my 5 mile walk with my SIL religiously. We walked Saturday and Sunday and infact I did it this morning with just my iTunes for company!
On the Disney front!:
Day 4-December 1st!
We are still not sure what we will do in the morning today. We may go to MK. We may go to Disney Springs or we may go to Epcot. We don't have anything scheduled, so we are free to decide depending on how we feel and what we have accomplished thus far! We have FP's in the afternoon for:
Jungle Cruise
Peter Pan's Flight
Pirates of the Caribbean
The FP's are for late afternoon as tonight is MVMCP night! We can't wait to see the snow on Main Street, the Christmas Parade and the Holiday fireworks! We are also looking forward to our hot cocoa and cookies!
We have dinner ADR's for Be Our Guest at 8:05PM. We went back and forth about this, but decided we will be here all week and we honestly don't care about how many rides we get on. The Beast's castle is just gorgeous at night and we are looking forward to incorporating this meal into our festivities!!
We plan on seeing the later parade and are hoping to time dinner so that we can watch Holiday Wishes when we come out. I am also hoping we can get some nice photopass pictures with the characters tonight!!
Your photos of the Falls and the Butterfly Conservatory are beautiful!
Your lunch today sounded yummy! We had a warm sunny day too, but supposedly going downhill for the rest of the week.
Plans for day 4 look good! Hurray for snow on Main Street with hot cocoa and cookies!
What a fantastic time you had! I like be all the photos and the food sounds good too. Had we kept with our original plans we would have been at the party on the same night!
