Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

May 31 - Epcot/Magic Kingdom day

We got up fairly early on this day. We decided that I would get breakfast for Jonathon at Sunshine seasons while Mike road Soarin. So we got ready and I think Mike munched on some danish and then we headed to Epcot.

We arrived in no time and went through security quickly and then headed for The Land. Mike headed for Soarin and I took Jonathon to the food court. I got the breakfast platter and some juice for him and coffee for me. If I remember right I think I ate back in the room as well. I got us a table and we hung out there until Mike was done. I think originally he was just going to get Fast Passes but the wait was short so he rode it instead.

Enjoying breakfast!

Once Mike was done he found us and then we waited until Jonathon was done eating. I seem to remember I went off to the restroom and Mike said some CMs were going around playing music and they sang happy birthday to Jonathon. How sweet, sorry I missed it. Once breakfast was done we headed to the Living with the land boat ride. We got in line and had to wait a bit for a boat for a wheelchair which was fine with us. Apparently someone behind us in the handicap line did not like that they had to wait and was asking the CM if they could go headed since they did not need a wheelchair boat but the CM said that the boat was the next one in line and they would have to wait. I would have been glad to let them ahead as I really did not want to ride with them since they were so rude about it. But they ended up in the front of the boat and we were in the back so at least they were not near us.

Jonathon likes this ride a lot and so do we. Ever since we took the Behind the Seeds tour I enjoy this ride even more. That tour gives you a much better appreciation of what they do here. So fair warning, I took lots of pictures.

Sorry this one is blurry!

Jonathon having fun!

These eggplant looked so yummy!

More Living with the Land pictures:

With that ride done we headed out of the Land pavilion. Mike wanted to ride Mission Space so he went on over there and I headed either back over to the lockers or the restroom. I don't remember for sure which but it was back over on the other side of Spaceship Earth. After I finished up whatever Jonathon and I were doing I got these photopass pictures taken.

Then we walked by the Fountain of Nations.

Then we headed over to wait for Mike to get done with Mission Space. We sat on a bench in the shade for some time until I decided to take Jonathon to the restroom. That was a feat and a half. We had to wait quite some time for the handicap bathroom near there since some young girls were in there taking their time. Finally they came out and the looked a bit sheepish when they saw us waiting.

While I was in there with Jonathon, Mike sent a text that he was off the ride and I told him where we were. He met us outside the bathroom area once we were done. We then decided to head over to the Epcot Character Spot. The main location for this was still under construction so you actually went to a temporary location in Innoventions. We got in line and it was a bit of a wait but Jonathon was in a good mood so we went with it.

I have to say here that I was not too happy with a family in line ahead of us. Now I have no issues with people giving their kids snacks while they wait, we do that with Jonathon. But it was the snack that she gave her kid that I had an issue with. This was a young little girl and she gave her peanut butter on crackers on a flimsy little paper plate. Needless to say since Jonathon is severely allergic to peanuts I was a bit freaked out. I spent the entire time waiting making sure that Jonathon did not put his feet on the floor ( he would not were his sandals) or touch the walls. I clearly saw what looked like peanut butter on the floor and on the wall. I mean really, why would you give your child something that messy like that and not pay any attention to what they are doing. Especially since peanut allergies are so much more prevalent now. Ugh! Rant over!!

We managed to get through the line without Jonathon getting too upset with me for not letting him put his feet down or touch anything. We got in and Mickey was first.

Then we met Pluto!

Jonathon did not want Pluto's hand behind him. LOL

Then it was Minnie's turn!

Then we decided to go outside and search for Chip and Dale.

We had been having a hard time finding Chip and Dale. So we were on a mission. Finally found them but it was only Chip that was out but we took what we could get. I think because it was not both of the Chipmunks that Jonathon was not very interested as he usually is or it could have been because it was so warm out not sure. But Chip was very active with Mike and myself.

After our chipmunk encounter we headed over to ride Spaceship Earth. I took some pictures of some flowers along the way.

We really liked those flowers. We got over to SE and took our ride. We did not stop to have our future mailed to us but I think I actually got the Conga line this time.

Then we went to go watch the Jamminators. We had yet to catch this show and finally did. It was pretty cool! By this time we were very warm and decided that we needed a cool ride so we headed to Universe of Energy. Jonathon liked this ride as well. It was a bit long but he did well in it. It was at this time we decided to head to the WS for lunch. We headed over to La Cantina de San Angel and found a seat inside and out of the heat. I then went and got Jonathon and myself lunch as Mike was not interested in anything here.

I got Tacos de Carne - smoked beef brisket tacos served on fresh handmade corn tortillas with Pico de Gallo, lime and corn tortilla chips and Tacos de Pollo - grilled chicken served on fresh handmade corn tortillas with Pico de Gallo, lime and corn tortilla chips. A diet coke and pink lemonade for Jonathon (he loved that). Also Churros and a Popsicle. I think we ended up splitting it between all of us. Jonathon kind of nit picked and liked the chips and salsa the most. It was pretty good and it was nice to be inside. Sorry no pictures of this meal apparently. Mike ended up eating a bunch of it as well. He had planned to get something in China but since he ate some of our lunch he was too full.

After lunch we went into the Mexico Pavilion and went on the boat ride and then we went through the shop. Then we headed around the showcase over to Germany and went through the shops there. Then we went to the American Pavilion and waited until it was time for the Fife and Drum Corps to come along.

I actually forgot that we manage to see Mariachi Cobre when we were over in Mexico. Here is the video that Mike took:

You can actually here Jonathon "talking", he was not too interested but I think he just did not want to sit in the sun.

We waited at the American Pavilion and finally got to see the Fife and Drum Corps. We have a video but it must be to big because I have tried to load it to Photobucket twice and it fails both times. It was great to watch them and then we went in and saw the Voices of Liberty.

Continued in the next update.

Lots of updates today! I hope I can remember everything I wanted to comment on. First the not-so great stuff: The mother and child with the peanut butter! I would think people, especially people with pre-school or school-age children would be more aware of peanut allergies! And the impatient people in the handicap line? You'd think they'd have the sensitivity and understanding to just wait their turn! And, finally, what's with the people stepping in and making the musicians move so they could get photos DURING the performance? Sheesh!

But it was mostly delightfully happy things today. Lots of really adorable photos of Jonathon and family shots, too. The ones of you and Jonathon in front of Spaceship Earth are just lovely. It looks like it was a beautiful day.

Your non-park day sounded perfect full of window shopping and just relaxing (well laundry too but even laundry at WDW is relaxing...lol)

Loved your day at Epcot, I am with you on the PB, with so many allergies you would think that certain foods people would be more careful with. Love all the pictures from your day, the ones of you and Jonathan are beautiful, he just looks like he is having such a great time.

And meeting Cat Cora, almost forgot to mention that. How cool!!!

love the pictures outside spaceship earth!! I've been in the same situation myself waiting for the accessible stall before that's filled with teens taking their time. Usually I don't mind but when you gotta go, you gotta go sometimes!! I had an incident at Disneyland a few years ago where someone was using the accessible stall that really didn't need it and was in there a very long time and the woman in line in front of me took it upon herself to make a big scene about it.....it was super embarrassing!

The child with the peanut butter must have been really nerve-wracking! I have a severe latex allergy with pretty much the same reactions as a lot of people with peanut allergies and being close to balloons makes me nervous! I'm glad that Jonathon was ok though!

Great day at Epcot!! You got a lot of good pictures today. I especially like the ones of you and Johnathan in front of SE. It's a different view than normal, I kind of like that SE is sort of off to the side, not directly behind you.

I can't believe the people behind you in the handicap line, you'd think they'd have a little more sensitivity than that. Sheesh. And the PB in line, I would not have been to happy about that. I know not everyone is allergic, but I wish others would try to be a little more careful knowing how prevalant peanut allergies are. We had a similar experience this year on line for Monsters Inc Laugh Floor, the family behind us gave their kids bags of peanuts to snack on while on line. The youngest was maybe 2, and he just had them all over the place. Luckily I noticed what was going on before he put his peanut ridden hand on Kaeli, I literally moved her out of the way seconds before he made contact with her. Scary!!

Yes the whole peanut thing was very nerve racking! The handicap line people just made me want to say just because you have a GAC does not mean you don't have to wait your turn!! The whole musician thing, I honestly did not notice that until I watched the video we took. How silly! They could not wait until they were finished, I mean really!
I love the shots of Jonathon and I as well. It was a nice day, a bit breezy but not too hot.

Our non park day was really nice. I know that schools are super careful with peanut allergies but you would think that would make parents more aware but not that parent apparently. Jonathon was having a great time. Meeting Cat Cora was super !

I don't mind waiting but they were in there a while and it was right next to the regular bathroom and CLEARLY they were just teenager girls with no brains apparently. The whole peanut butter incident was very nerve wracking. Jonathon did not care for me telling him to pick up his feet every other minute either. He just did not understand. But truly some people just have no brain at all.

Those shots were really cute. Yes it was scary with the whole PB incident.

Scary!!
Yes, I liked that view in our SE shots as well. The PP photographer was looking kinda lonely so I gave him something to do and they came out great. The people in the handicap line are part of the reason that Disney is having to change things, it is not a front of the line pass and you have to wait your turn. It is a real shame that the GAC is so abused that it lead to this. Yes the peanut thing was scary. I am glad you saw that and got Kaeli out of the way. People just don't think and really I would not feed my child something that messy any way. We give Jonathon Fruity Cheerios, not messy and easily picked up if he drops them. The CM's have enough to do then clean up after little kids whose parents have no clue.
