Come sail away, Come sail away, Come sail away with me TR Completed 2/8/2012 - Page 23 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Windy day! When I sailed on the Wonder and the Magic I was amazed at how many things there were to do on sea days, and on the Dream there are even more! I may need to do a double cruise or stay on board all of the port days!
The fireworks during pirate night are one of my favorite parts of the cruise, that and the showing of POTC on the big movie screen. Wow...that wind is CRAZY! Good thing you were holding onto Josie or she may have flown overboard.
BTW, it's funny you say that everyone you meet is Josie's "friend" becuase everyone time Hope meets someone and they go to say good-bye, she wants to give them a hug and a kiss. I can't tell you how embarrassing it is when this happens with a stranger, and I have to tell her that you don't always give hugs and kisses when people say good-bye.
Let me catch my breath a minute - I did just come back after fainting.
Pirate night looks so fun and fireworks at sea! How cool! (Some day I'll get on one of those ships.)
It sure was windy - good thing it was warm though.
Great updates! Love the picture of Andre sleeping with the smile on his face, and the family pirate pic with his tongue out! And Josie looks like one tough, mean pirate!
Okay, okay...you've officially shamed me into getting back on these boards! (I might even do an update tonight )
Love the pics with Tink, both she and Josie are adorable!
Can't believe you were followed all over by the mean family, but that just figures.
Lots of pics of Josie on Arnaud's shoulders...
Love, love, love the picture of Andre sleep/smiling at Castaway Cay. Just priceless. I'm gonna need to squeeze those cheeks soon!
What great lookin' pirate you all are! Love Andre's little tongue stickin' out and I want an arm full of beads like Miss Josie! Cute!!
Going to totally go look up the champagne prices at Pink . But I know how few and far between those quite moments can be and they are totally worth it!!
Up next the Aquaduck, huh? Hmmmm...
Cont’d
So as I mentioned earlier in a brief post about the day we went back and forth as to who should ride the Aquaduck, and in the end Arnaud sent me up alone, now with 2 hours to roam about the ship that was our first order of business. Arnaud was soooo excited, and I was too to ride it again but with him this time. Well that all hit the fan when we got there and noticed it was shut down due to the high winds and the rocking boat. NO!!!!! I would never live this one down. It looked really unlikely that it would be up and running again on the remainder of this cruise because around this time is when the Capt. came on to tell us all that he was doing his best to go around a storm. Well, kind of figured that. But he was slowing the boat down to make things a bit more comfortable for everyone, but at around 10pm he would be picking up the pace to get us back to port on time………so basically. BRACE YOURSELFS!!!
So feeling super bad now that the hubs would never ride this thing, well at least on this cruise, we went off to the “adult pool area” for a drink and a dip in the hot tub. As nice as it was there, I couldn’t relax. The ship rocking was starting to get to me, I was thinking about the kids and also thinking about the getting the bags packed. So Arnaud and I decided to be crazy with our “alone time” and head back to the room………………to pack, that is. I figured we could bang it all out without the kids being there, so we headed out with our drinks and went back to do just that.
Quick and painless that was, I even took a shower to start getting ready for our last night too. We went and grabbed the kids and started to get them ready for the evening as well.
At one point I was in need of a Red Bull and realized we were out of our stash, so I headed down to the Atrium bar to see what I could find and while I was down there I realized we were missing the See Ya Real Soon party. SNAP!!! Ugh.
So back up to the room we got everyone all dolled up for a nice family pic and off we went.
We got some nice family photos and some with Capt. Mickey too.
Then off to drop Andre for the last time and also to hand in Josie’s ID bracelet too. Then back to dinner in the Royal Palace.
Again, I am new to the TR thing and one thing I need to start doing is taking notes on what we ate at dinner. Everything again was great, but I just can never remember what we had. We had our last sighting of the mean unhappy couple………….thank god!!
After dinner we had a special treat planned for Josie before we picked up Andre. Going to get her first Duffy Bear!! This was actually the first time we even went into a gift shop, can you imagine??? She picked one out and of course an outfit too. The CM Oksana was a true gem and I even noted her on our comment card. She told Josie how special Duffy was to her, and not just a toy, but her real and true friend. She dressed him in his new sailor outfit and handed him over to Josie and she was in pure heaven!!!
Arnaud's look when she told him we couldn't use our Disney Rewards Dollars here
From there, we grabbed my slipping baby and set him and Daddy back to the room while me and my gal went off to see the last show on the ship… BELIEVE!
Thanks!
We all made the best of a very windy day that's for sure

It's amazing at what they offer, I'll get to that in my final thoughts though

I didn't think it was that bad with the wind at first, but then I just pictured one of us getting knocked out.........so we left the pool quickly
