We Can Fly, We Can Fly, We Can Fly......We Flew Trip Report - Page 22 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

so sorry abbey wasn't feeling well and you got stuck with clean up duty but it does sound like your last day was a lot of fun. along with a lot of running around.
I'm glad Abby was able to perk up after meeting Wreck It Ralph and Vanellope again. I think it's really sweet they gave her the magnetic frame, I bet that is always going to be a great memory for her. You certainly had a full day and despite the rain, it sounds like it was a wonderful last full day in the World. I can't believe the trip is coming to an end already.
Glad believe it is the last day at Disney already! Sorry to hear about Abby getting sick, but she was a trooper for sticking it out. Great pictures of Abby with Ralph and Vanellope!!!

I was worried when I started reading that Abby was sick this morning! Such a trooper for marching on, through the day! She definitely earned that Wreck It Ralph gift! And what a magical moment that was!! Fantastic last day!!! ( for it being great, for it being overrrrrr)

Wow, what a day of ups and downs, huh?! I think the biggest "up" has got to be the M&G for Abby!! What great interaction! Sorry about the pouring rain and the upset tummies, and so sorry it's almost over.
SOunds like a fun and full last day! Glad you went to Wreck It Ralph, Abby looked so happy. Loved the pics of her dancing with them.
Wow that sounds like some rain! My DH would be freaking out if we had to stop in the middle of the monorail line...he hates the monorail, but will ride it. Lucky, bc next trip we are hoping for BLT and he HAS to ride the monorail! LOL!
Darlene, it's taken me a while, but I finally caught up! I hate being so far behind on TRs, but it's always nice to get to read so much without waiting for another update. Of course, I forgot half of the comments I wanted to make! Anyway, sounds like it was a great trip so far with a few PPer meets thrown in. Sorry Abby got sick, but like a true Disney nut, she didn't let it slow her down at all. Please tell her that I adore her princess poses in the photos. My own poses still need a little work! And what a completely magical moment with WIR and Vanellope! Definitely a good decision to go to DHS that day! Looking forward to your last day.

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
I'm so glad to hear that Abby started feeling better the next day. It also sounds like you had a wonderful last day!!! I am so glad that overall your trip was magical and I can't wait until it is my turn to go. I hope that your family is able to go back sometime soon as I see how much you all love WDW through your pictures.
Thanks Jenn. We do really love Disney. We usually do have a great time but when we have magical things happen (like the M&G) it just adds to our love of Disney. Hopefully your trip won't take forever to get here and you have just as much magic.

Well the Studios paid off for Abby, glad to see the photos of her having a great time!!! I love the way Magic steps in at the right times. The ride back to the car did not sound like it was pleasant at all. The rain in Orlando is the strangest thing, may rain in MK and be dry as a bone in DHS, you just can never tell!!!! Hope you had a good night sleep before leaving for home the next day!!!
I know - I wasn't happy when she started throwing up in the parking lot but there wasn't much I could do to help her that I hadn't done already. We did go at a slower pace that day in hopes of preventing anything else happening. The Studios definitely paid off for Abby. I can honestly say I didn't like the time it took to hop from the MK to the Studios and back but I don't regret it. The interaction she got was so worth it for us that day.
Rain can be strange anywhere. I know one day over the summer it was pouring rain over the house but yet barely half a mile up the street where mom and I work, it was sunny and dry (I know because I had to leave the house to go somewhere). The storms in Disney seem to be more violent though which I'm sure are due to the heat and the fact that a lot of Florida is flat (meaning you can see the lightning further away than you might at home). The ride to the car was a little nerve wracking but we made it. I don't want to do it again though.

The interaction made the trip to the Studios completely worth the effort. Abby still talks about it and couldn't wait for me to post this section as she wanted to know what everyone here thought of the day.

And nope - we didn't cross paths this day.......we were at AK all day and we were going to head to MK that evening BUT that storm got in our way - although we heard from many people and also saw on FB about power outages all over MK, it even flickered at our resort a few times, so we called it an early night!
Abby started to perk up by the end of lunch but the M&G was defintiely the icing on her cake. As I mentioned to Cam above, Abby still talks about it and tells us it was her favorite day of vacation.
I didn't realize the storm was that violent. I know it affected the monorail for a few minutes but I didn't know there were power outages. When we were there, the monorail station lights stayed on and all the lights were on at the GF, the Poly and the TTC. I didn't hear about anything else and as I said, by the time we got to our resort, it wasn't even raining so I didn't give the storm another thought.

It was a productive last day. Yeah, we didn't get things done I wanted to - i.e. another ride on Splash, a ride on BTM - but we still had a good time.

It was an awesome M&G - one we'll remember for a long time. I agree it does suck to be on vacation but it happens. Although with Abby being sick, I thought our vacation was going to end on a low note but the M&G certainly made up for it.

I haven't even seen this movie, but the fact that the characters are so sweet makes me want to!
Yes, it's the end of our trip already Laurie - and I totally agree . The M&G was awesome and I was really surprised by the frame myself. Even the CM wouldn't let me in on it, just that Ralph and Vanellope had something they wanted to give her. As for the movie, we've seen it and it was good. I don't want to say it's a typical Disney movie, but it has ups and downs and it has good music - basically what all Disney movies seem to have but it was enjoyable. If you do watch it, let me know what you think.

Our last day was fun. It didn't start out that way but it did end that way with the exception of that storm. We did do a lot of running around but that's only because with Abby already not feeling well, I didn't want to say no to the Studios. I want her to have good memories of Disney and boy does she now.

I know - the trip went entirely too quickly. Lenny and I even talked about how we could have used a few extra days there. Ralph and Vanellope are great memories for her - she still talks about it, especially when she hears the song "When can I see you again." And the magnet has a place of honor on the refrigerator.

I totally agree witht the smile and frown. We already want to go back but it's going to be a while before that happens though. She was a trooper and as I mentioned above, she definitely was "paid" for being one with the awesome M&G. Magic like that is what keeps us going back.

I know Sharon - it went too quickly but at least we have great memories from it. Well Abby getting sick isn't such a great memory but it's still a memory from Disney
