Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Mmmm....Sci-Fi milkshake....

I the Muppet's pre-show as well. I agree with Marnie - I like it almost more than the actual show (put a cushy chair in there for me to lounge in, and I probably would like it more!).

I'm amazed that you were able to go from a 75 minute wait to a less-than-10 minute wait for the Backlot tour. You really know the tricks, girl!

Can't wait for more!

She probably could've gotten more out of the way if her DH hadn't been in there too! You can barely see him, but he's next to her. Both the CM and I told them (their DS is in the front seat) that they didn't need to move, but they insisted. Nice people!

And to answer your question, no it isn't weird with others sitting so close. At least not for me. With a party of 1 or 2, you usually get the back seat (at least that's how it's been in my case). Because everyone is facing straight ahead, you don't feel like you need to make conversation, and honestly, I think it's difficult even with members of your own party who aren't seated right next to you. You can also ask for a table instead of a car if it really worries you.

Day Seven – Friday, February 23
Everyone Wants to Ride Pooh with Me!

Today was to be a solo day for me. Even though I was attending the P&PP later, I wanted to hit the MK, so it would be MK all day for me. I drove to the MK and encountered the world’s stupidest parents while parking. The family I parked next to had a little boy who looked like he was about 2 years old (really a little thing, still in diapers). They were all getting themselves together and the poor kid was standing at the front of their car all alone. I saw him there, so I only pulled in enough to get out of the road and waited until someone noticed him and grabbed his hand or something. He saw me coming and I think he needed a new diaper he looked so scared. I didn’t want to blow the horn because I thought that would scare him even more. I waited about 30 seconds before his dad finally noticed and took him out of the way and I pulled in and parked. I think I scarred the poor boy for life. I’m not a parent, but even I know better than that. And it’s a good thing I noticed him or it could’ve been a very tragic day for that family.

I decided to catch the ferry, which I particularly enjoy in the early morning. Here are a few pictures I took.

I had to wait a few minutes for the opening ceremony, and because it was already so crowded, it was an abbreviated show. The characters rolled in on the train and then they opened up.

On the way down Main Street, I thought of Karen and her son Zack, because of the song these folks were singing.

Clang, clang, clang went the trolley…

And then I completely cracked up when I noticed a kid who had the exact same opinion as Zack.

It may be hard to see from this stealth picture, but he’s covering his ears!

I giggled my way to Fantasyland and had a spin on Peter Pan. Then I skipped over to Pooh, thinking if I got those two out of the way right away, I’d be set for finishing FL in no time. Pooh was practically a walk on. I was given a car to myself, and then a family of four lined up behind me. When the hunnypot came in, the entire family of four behind me got in with me. I guess everyone wants to ride Pooh with me, because this has happened to me before (though that woman got in behind me with one kid and left her DH and other kid flat).

I wanted to check in for my flight, so I went back to the front of the park. A very nice CM checked me in and printed out my boarding pass for me, and also did the same for DM & DF, who weren’t even with me.

I decided to go to Adventureland next. I passed the Jungle Cruise, which wasn’t open yet, and walked right onto a boat on POC. After that, I headed to the HM.

I was just enjoying my final day in the MK and strolling around.

I did take a ride on SWSA, which was still a walk-on. Then, more photos.

I was thinking about my buddy Eileen, and the fact that I’d be seeing her & Karen in just a couple of days. It’s like they were all with me at the MK that day!

I decided I’d done enough lazy strolling and headed over to Tomorrowland to pick up a FP for SM. The standby time was only 30 minutes, but I decided that was longer than I wanted to wait, so I grabbed a FP for later. Then I headed to Toontown, snapping this photo on the way.

I visited Mickey’s house first.

Next was Minnie’s place.

Then I snapped a photo of Goofy’s Barnstormer.

The train pulled in just then, so I decided to take a spin around the park. I noticed the awful crowds at the bag check line when we got to Main Street.

Once I’d completed the round trip, I got off the train in Toontown and took the path to Tomorrowland. I used my SM FP and got the left hand side. I thought about getting a BTMRR or Splash FP for later, but figured I’d have a good chance of hitting those during the party, so I decided not to. I went to the hub and took some castle pictures. I’m still not sure whether or not I like the new castle paint job.

Then I headed back to MD for a break.

Up Next: More of the Royal Treatment

Well Sharon, you certainly got to grips with your new camera. Your photos are FANTABULOUS.

Love the Zack copy with his hands over his ears. 'Clang clang goes the trolley....' has a similar effect on me.

Your pictures are so vivid and brilliant - - beautiful! As soon as Mary Devall stops reading "Go Dog Go" to her dad, I'm going to pull her over to check out pictures of her favorite place on Earth!

What a fantastic morning - - and of course, everyone wants to be in your honeypot! You are THE Fastpass Queen!

Great update and wonderful pictures. Love Mickey and Minnie's house. I'll have to go visit there homes next time I go. For years, Minnie's house would depress me. She paints, she quilts, she does pottery, she cooks, and her house is cute to boot. What a she-mouse!!
