As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Back to the TR:
We had just met up with our Tampa friends. After catching up, we headed over to Test Track. We were a little too early for the FP, so we headed to Mission Space (green) which had a short wait.
I really wish I could do the orange side again, but remember feeling like I couldn’t breathe during one part of the ride and I’m afraid to try again.
Cary and I decided to head over to Mouse Gear while the rest of the gang rode TT. I don’t think we bought anything, but it was nice just catching up and browsing the store.
After shopping, we met up with the rest of the gang who had a great time on TT.
It was getting late and we were all hungry. We decided Sunshine Seasons had enough of a selection for everyone and headed there. I don’t remember what our friends had. DH, Jared, and I all got the oak-grilled fish. I believe it normally comes with green beans and roasted potatoes, but we all got it with rice and black beans instead.
Aidan got the kids’ mac n cheese.
We all really enjoyed our meal. Sunshine Seasons has something for everyone and the free refills on soft drinks is a great deal.
We were done with dinner at around 8:40 and noticed a 15 minute wait for Soarin' (which closed at 9). There was no way we could pass up such a short wait and hopped in line. The wait actually ended up being 5 minutes. I never thought of riding Soarin' right before closing, but apparently that's the way to go.
After Soarin’ it was time to part ways since our friends had to drive back to Tampa. We were sad to see them go, but knew that they might be coming to visit us in the next week or so.
We headed over to the monorail. As we waited in the longest line ever for the monorail, we looked down and saw our friends on the parking lot tram. We got their attention and waved goodbye once again.
I believe this was the longest and most frustrating wait for a monorail ever. A group of young men in their early twenties kept cutting through the line saying their friends were waiting up front. They weaseled their way passed hundreds of people and straight to the front of the line. I was so mad that these grown men were acting like this, while so many tired, little children were waiting patiently. Surprisingly, people just shook their heads and let them go. I guess like me, they didn’t really feel like arguing at that time.
We eventually made it onto the monorail and transferred to the MK monorail at the TTC. We were meeting up with my Sis and her family for a little MK nighttime fun.
Once at MK, we met up with my sister’s family near Auntie Gravity’s. We rode BTMRR, with only a 15 minute wait, and walked right on Haunted Mansion. I highly recommend going on rides during Wishes and/or the evening parade. BTMRR is so much better at night too.
After a couple of rides, we decided to call it night. As we headed out of the park, we got to see some of the Electrical Parade.

Like the monorail earlier, the bus to Kidani was crazy. We had to stand and since Aidan couldn’t reach the railing, he had to sit on the floor at my feet. I don’t mind standing, but it was late and everyone was so exhausted. I can’t even tell you how many toddlers were sitting in their own seat. I know everyone has the right to a seat, but we always put our small children on our laps in a packed bus in order to allow others (especially the elderly and small children to sit). No one seemed to care that all these little kids were sitting on the floor and falling asleep. I had the worst time holding onto the railing with one hand, and holding onto a sleeping Aidan with my other hand. When the bus made a sudden turn, I must’ve fallen into the lady behind me a little and barely grazed her. Well, she was not happy. Of course, I apologized and explained that I couldn’t keep my balance with that turn. I also explained that she had been bumping and shoving me the whole ride and I had not said anything because I knew it wasn’t her fault. She was just the nastiest lady ever!
We eventually made it back to Kidani in one piece and headed straight to our rooms. We were so exhausted and in bed by midnight.
