As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Like any other trip, it’s always hard to sleep the night before, however I did manage to fall asleep around 11pm, which is good for me. We didn’t need to be up too early since my flight wasn’t until 10am it was out of Philly though so I wanted to leave the house by 6:30am and be prepared for rush hour traffic because we would be hitting the middle of it. Of course at 4am I had to get up and go to the bathroom, get back in bed, all is ok until I hear one of the cats clawing on my suitcase. I get up and shoo him away, back into the bed. Few minutes later I hear the sprinklers going off outside….geez can I please just get a few more zzz’s?? Then I hear a loud smack coming from downstairs. OK, enough………..now I am up and it’s just about 5am. I go to check on the smack from downstairs and it was again, crazy cat knocking something off from the top of the TV. I just decide to get ready, grab some coffee for me and tidy up the rest of the house.
Around 5:45 I went in to get Josie. I just whispered her name and she responded quickly and without any fuss, she was well aware of what was going down. She got up and gave me a big hug and then went running down the hall to get daddy up. How she did it though was a bit drastic. Any of you watch Sesame Street?? Is it Murray that always yells……?” HEY YOU GUYS!!!!”? Well anyway, THAT is what she yelled in her sleeping daddy’s face. POOR GUY. Now with him up, he went down to get breakfast ready for her while I got her dressed and hair brushed. Arnaud’s mom arrived around this time too, she was going to watch Andre while we went to the airport. I knew before I left I would wake my little guy, but he must have heard all of us because soon I heard him waking up. I went in to grab him and bring him down for breakfast too and just couldn’t stop kissing him. With the car loaded, and lots of bye byes to my baby boy, we were off!
I was shocked that traffic today wasn’t so bad. Monday morning too. Arnuad dropped us of at our terminal, again, lots of hugs and kisses and waves to my other boy, us gals were off again. I sky caped my one bag, went through TSA and found our gate all by 8:05 am!!!!! WHAT?? How in the world did this happen. We now had 2 hrs. to kill before we were to even take off. UUGGHH.
I had put my stroller in the gate check bag and the lady at the counter said she would take that for me now since I had it bagged up already. That was great, so now we just wandered around a bit and Josie found some boys to play with too. Soon we boarded the plane, only to wait a few extra minutes on the runway for takeoff.
The flight was fine. Josie watched some stuff on the ipad and I read a magazine and dozed off a few times. Finally we landed at MCO and were off heading to the DME.
Yeah!!! I felt like this part of the trip was really taking forever, but how happy was I when I heard POR was the first stop! I waited for my stroller from under the bus and I was shocked at the amount of people who didn’t tip the driver after grabbing their large suitcases, and it was a woman driver too. She only grabbed my umbrella stroller and I still tipped her. Shocked! I did online check in and our room was ready! So off we went to see this Royal Guest Room.
So far, I was pretty impressed with POR. Really a beautiful place. We were in the Oak Manor Building, 2 nd floor with a “garden View” you mean garden and parking lot view…………didn’t matter much to me since I didn’t have a balcony to sit out on anyway. The room, well what can I say. It was really cute, and I do think a boy would like it just as much too. I did feel it was small and a tad dark, but it was more than fine for us. Josie quickly called her bed. She wanted to wake in the morning to see the princesses on the wall (her words………..I kid you not).
I had called to get my Garden Grocer order delivered, so that soon came and I put those items in the fridge. We were starving at this point and we had to hurry. I had some magic getting ready to be sprinkled on us and I didn’t want to be late. My luggage hadn’t come yet, but it was fine and really we needed to get moving.
I found the bus stop no problem and soon we were on our way to DHS! Our first stop was going to be Pizza Planet, but I had to fly by TSSM to see if any fast passes were left……..shocking, there weren’t any.
Finally we are in line ordering some grub and found a table to start digging in!
At this point is when some magic texting started to happen.
What a great start! I don't know how you managed to leave Andre-- he just keeps getting more and more adorable. That photo of him with Josie at the table is too sweet. I agree that the princess room does look dark with all that heavy drapery. Looks like Josie was a cheerful traveling companion! Can't wait for the magic to start.
Leaving that adorable boy had to be hard . . . wonding how I'm going to be able to leave my little man come October. Sounds like an easy time at PHL - and no delay !
