We Turned Her Into A Disney Lovin', Character Huggin', Thrill Ridin' Girl! COMPLETED 7/11 - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm so glad you were able to be flexible with your plans. How lucky that you were just able to swap a rest day. And very lucky that you could get into CM the next day. Sorry that you and Jamie were still a little under the weather. Hopefully you both recover for a fun filled day. And with your day swap we were finally in the same park at the same time. Not sure if our paths crossed, but with all the zigzagging of the park we did that day the chances are probably pretty good.
I am so glad you were able to rearrange your plans and get a breakfast at Chef Mickey's. Sounds like some great fun at the pool....glad that Selah got excited with the idea of a bath and walked the rest of the way back. Hope Jamie starts to feel better enough to meet you over at DTD.
All caught up, again! So sorry you guys got food poisoning! That really stinks on vacation. I am so glad you were able to change your Chef Mickey's ADR and did not get charged. Sounds like a relaxing day so far with the exception of getting Selah back to the room. Alex does the same thing to me sometimes and it is not fun to carry the extra 45lbs. Can't wait to hear about the rest of the day. I hope Jamie was able to meet you.

Glad you guys were feeling better! I also thought on the ride Dinosaur that I felt like things were on the back of my neck-like a tyrodactyl (however you spell it) was right behind me. LOL

We were so happy we were able to get that ADR for the next day! It was a nice relaxing day and it really ended up better that we went swimming that day because the next day was cooler and it would have been too cold to swim. The carrying the 45 lb. kid was definitely not relaxing and I was so thankful that she finally decided to walk. She is very long too and doesn't really help hold herself up. That just makes her heavier. We have always carried her around but in the past 6 months or so it has become much more difficult. I can't do it much any more. Of course, with a typically developing child you wouldn't be carrying them around when they are almost 6 but I often forget she is almost 6 because she does not seem like she is.

We were so happy that it worked out for the next day. Asher had been so looking forward to that. If we would not have made it he would not have said anything but I know he would have been disappointed. Selah is definitely a water baby! I have thought the same thing about similarities between them when I was reading your TR from last year.

We were so happy when they said they had that time available! I was not about to say no. He deserved to be able to go to Chef Mickey's and we wanted it for him so bad.
Glad you were feeling better in the end and were able to get another slot at Chef Mickeys!
Thanks!

Thanks! It turned out to be an ok day even though we were not all up to par.

It made me so sad when he was crying. He knew there was nothing we could do about it so he was not going to say anything but he couldn't help being sad. So often things get canceled because Selah can't go, we have no one to watch her or she has doctor appointments. He doesn't complain. He loves his sister and never does he get upset with her about anything. This time it had nothing to do with her but still it was one more thing that got canceled. I was so glad we were able to reschedule.

Glad your feeling better, and you were able to do some fun relaxing stuff for the day. Hope Jamie feels better soon too and can join you at DTD.
Can't wait to hear more!
I was too! He definitely deserved that Disney Magic! It broke my heart to see it! He is an incredible big brother.

I was really glad to have had that rest day available because I know if all we had left were park days that would have been really disappointing to not be able to use all of our park days. I totally did not expect to be able to get an ADR for Chef Mickey's for the next day. That was awesome how that worked out for us. When I read about your day I was trying to decide if we were ever any where near each other but I'm not sure. Maybe after I finish we can compare and see what we think. You did do a lot of zigzagging!

It was good fun at the pool I only wish Jamie could have joined in on the fun. I was glad Selah got excited about that bath too!

Thanks! It does stink to be sick on vacation! We were really glad we were able to change the ADR too! It was a very relaxing day with the exception of carrying Selah part way back to the room.
I considered mentioning this when I started my TR and was introducing everyone but then I didn't do it. Some of you may be wondering how to pronounce Selah's name. If you are not then you can skip this post. Most people who first meet her and see her name say it wrong. We pronounce her name, Say La. Hope that makes sense. The rest of our names are exactly as they are spelled. Selah's is the only one that can be confusing. I'm mentioning this now because I have been asked recently by someone on here and figured I might as well bring it up. Plus I know when I am reading a book and then it is turned into a movie if they pronounce a name different than the way I thought then it is kind of annoying to me.
Now hopefully my next post will be an update but I haven't even had a chance to get started on it yet. Hopefully this weekend.
Very pretty name for a pretty girl. She's adorable! My son loves to do the boneless chicken routine too. Not fun. They can't wait to walk and then they want u to hold them all the time.
great update can't wait to hear more about your trip

Thanks for the name pronunciation. It helps when I'm listing to the story in my head :-). I'm glad you were starting to feel better. Getting sick on vacation is bad enough, but at Disney? It should be outlawed!
Now, this is a funny coincidence because I was just wondering if I was pronouncing Selah's name correctly then I read your most recent post. (btw -I wasn't -I was reading See La). Thanks so much for posting! I'm a teacher and it really, really bugs me if I pronounce a kid's name wrong. Most kids with more unusual names understand but it bugs me just the same.

That is exactly how I was pronouncing it in my head as I read, but then I love the music of the Christian group called Selah, pronounced the same way. It is a beautiful name as is Asher.

Thanks so much!
Boneless chicken routine! I like that! Hadn't thought of it like that before. You are right, it is not fun. Also, not the last time it happened on this trip.

I like to know I am pronouncing names correctly too.
It should be outlawed! Wonder if we could get something done about that.

Great minds think alike! Most people pronounce it the way you were reading it. When we were at Special Olympics last week that is how they said her name when they introduced her in with her class. I wish they would have said it right because I would have liked to see whether or not she noticed and responded. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Awesome! Most people not only do not say her name right but they also have not heard of that group. That is where we got her name. One night we were discussing possible girl names and the TV was on. A commercial came on for Christian CD's. Selah was listed in the groups on the CD. We knew the group and liked them but had not thought about it for a name up until that point. We knew it was a word in the Bible but didn't know how it was pronounced and just hadn't thought of the group. When we heard them say it in the commercial we both loved it. Asher's name is in the Bible and we like that it is not common (or at least wasn't when he was born). His name is one of the 12 tribes of Israel, son of Jacob and one of Joseph's brothers. Giving our girl a name from the Bible that is also not common was perfect. Of course, in the Bible, Selah is not a name it is a word. I think it is a very appropriate word for my Selah. It means to pause/reflect. She may not pause and reflect but everyone who meets her will pause and reflect on this incredible little miracle.
