PTR: The Dunning Family's Triumphant Return to the World - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The Girls look very cute in their shirts. Where is the Proud Papa ?
David was feeling a bit grumpy and refused to be in a picture. You can see his bottom half and one arm on the right side of the P utter where Briana is jumping, and it took a lot of convincing just to get him to do that. [emoji12]

Okay...I am trying really hard not to be disappointed.
My friend Automne (who is also going to Disney World in September, though a couple weeks earlier) and I were messaging back and forth on Facebook starting at three AM trying to figure out why disneyworld.com wouldn't let us modify our reservations online. I knew Ashlee had been able to, so I was really frustrated that it wasn't working for us. We finally admitted defeat, though, and decided we would have to stay up until 4:00 when the phone lines open (since we are both in the PST zone, and three hours behind FL). Though, I guess we didn't really admit defeat, since we kept refreshing the page and trying again. [emoji4]
We chatted back and forth and both started trying to call five minutes before the lines opened, hanging up as soon as we heard the "our offices are now closed" message.
At 4:00, their phone lines were so inundated with calls that they crashed. We both got a "technical difficulties" message.
We kept trying, and my friend managed to get through and get on hold at 4:05. I continued trying to call, frantically, for the next HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES and could NOT get through. I kept getting either a busy signal or a recorded message saying that my call could not be completed because the person I was calling was busy.
I kept messaging my friend, and I asked her if she got through to a person before I managed to get on hold, if she would see if they would allow her to modify my reservation as well. She readily agreed, which I am so thankful for!
At 5:15, she sent a message "I have a person!" And then promised that after she modified her reservation she would ask about mine. I had sent all the information she would need or that they may ask for.
I was still trying to get through in case they said no, but luckily the Cast Member was happy to allow Automne to help me. I messaged Automne and said "OMG tell her I love her!" That amused everybody.
So sweet Automne acted as a go between, messaging me as she talked to the CM. I was highly upset to find out that all the Free Dining reservations were gone for Pop for our dates. I nearly started crying.
But the CM searched around and found an opening at All Star Music for us. I jumped on it, telling them to book it, but I was still feeling really bummed. I was really looking forward to staying at Pop again.
On the bright side:
We are going to Disney World.
We got free dining.
We are PAID IN FULL and got a $536 refund as well.
I may keep trying for the next week or so to get back to Pop, but, as David pointed out, we took our honeymoon at ASM, so it might be fun to stay there again.
So...PIF with Free Quick Service Dining, upgraded to the Regular Dining Plan. Life is good.
The annoucement is so cute! Love the shirts for the girls. What a morning trying to get free dining! Sorry you ended having to switch resorts, but you got free dining and that's a win in my book! Congrats!
Too bad you had to change resorts but at least you were able to get the Free Dining promotion. Best thing is that you're PIF and with a chunk of change back.

Lots of good news today! Your announcement of baby #3 was just too adorable, and like you I love the excitement on Briana's little face. Pure joy! And then the photo of their little hands! Awwwwww! Too sweet! So glad your friend and the CM were able to get you free dining! Sorry you have to switch resorts, but I love that you two honeymooned there. Cool bit of savings, too.
What a nightmare with the free dining offer, but that's expected on the first day! Sorry, you lost out on POP, but at least the CM was able to get another resort for you and glad you got the nice refund! As I'm going in October, it's not available for my dates, but hoping for a resort discount. But only a nice deluxe discount as I feel I've stayed at the mods enough over the past several years. Even with the discounts the deluxes are still quite pricey! I do have a backup plan in place and set for now!

October 6, 2017-Enjoying an amazing dinner at Victoria & Albert's with PP's Dot and Drew
My TR from my most recent trip is now underway. Includes: Universal Studios Florida, Disney World and Sea World Orlando Trifecta TR -Updated December 10th! TR is now COMPLETED!
That's great! We can't get free dining because it's not offered for Port Orleans French Quarter. Just Riverside. I asked Chuck if he wanted to change our venue and he said nope. We aren't really worried about the dining though. We have already booked Victoria and Albert's Queen Victoria Room!
i feel your pain about switching resorts ... i had to switch from POR to AllStar Sports but with upgraded dining. but fingers crossed that we will both get what we want if we keep trying.
