As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love that the rain gave you guys some shorter lines to enjoy extra rides! Great pics with the princesses!
That's the only good thing about rain, shorter lines.

It would've been better if we'd had those ponchos. But we still managed to have a great time.

I think it would be a good idea to fire Arben as your personal weather forecaster!
Yeah, from now on no listening to Arben's advice.

Minus the rain, it was a good day at MK
I'm still sad because I missed the parade. I was looking forward to it.
We woke up at around 9:00, did our morning routine and headed out to Blizzard Beach. Arrived at the park and looked for a place to park our stuff. Arben, AJ and Abniel took off to tackle some slides. Adriel and I stayed together and headed to the wave pool.
Don't let the blue sky fool you.
This wave pool was more to my liking. No huge waves that would wipe me out. I then took Adriel to the kid's place, Ski Patrol Training Camp, where he went down some slides, over and over.
We went in the Lazy River for a little while. Adriel was hungry, so we went to get him some food at Warming Hut. He got a meatball sub with chips. I also bought another refillable mug, although I could've brought the one I'd bought at TL and just paid the reactivation. But, of course, I didn't know I could do that. Oh well, now we have 2.
After he was done, we ran into the guys. They were hungry too, so we all headed to Lottawatta Lodge. I don't remember what everyone got, but I do remember I got chicken fingers with fries. They were really good.
The skies were starting to look cloudy. The guys wanted to do some slides so we all headed in that direction. The guys had fun while I cheered them on. No way I was going down any slide.
By this time the sky was very dark, indicating rain was about to start. We headed to where our stuff was and we hadn't been there 5 minutes when the skies opened up. Thankfully we were under cover. The rain was coming down hard.
After 15 minutes, we decided to bail. There was no indication of the rain stopping and a message had come over the speaker that the attractions were closed due to rain. I think it was 1:30ish, so we'd only been in the park maybe 3 hours. The rain had let up a little, so we wrapped our towels over us and headed to the exit. On our way to the bus stop it raining hard again, so we had to make a run for it.
We waited a little while for the bus and when we got on, we immediately froze. Wet people and cold busses don't go well together.
We got to Kidani and the guys headed up to the room while I went to turn in the towels from the pool area. Btw, the pool was closed because of the rain.
I took a long, warm bath using the last bath bomb. I think I was in the tub for 30 minutes. Oh so relaxing!
We were getting kind of hungry so we decided to go to Jambo House and get some food there. It wasn't raining so we walked over. When we got there I had no idea
where the Mara was. I started walking around the lobby and then exited through the back, where the animal viewing area is. I quickly realized the Mara wasn't there but I just kept walking around. Adriel approaches me and asks if the restaurant was back here. I answered, no. Then he asked me, "then what are we doing here?". I answered, "I'm just pretending I know where we are. Just go with it.".
We came back in and then down towards Boma restaurant and that's when I saw the sign for Mara. We finally got to our destination and made our orders. Again, I don't remember what anybody got and I have no pictures of the food. I remember I got a burger and fries. I also got my beloved cherry coke.
After we were done, we went into Zawadi Marketplace and looked around. Adriel and I did some pin trading. We traded with, I don't remember his name, but he had us step on a red carpet and did a little trading pin ceremony. It was cool and Adriel loved it.
We then headed to the bus stop. We were planning on doing some resort hopping at the Epcot area hotels. A bus to DHS arrived, so we hopped on. On our way there, the skies were looking threatening again. I was really hoping the rain would hold up.
We got to DHS and headed to the boat dock. The CM there told us that rain was coming and he didn't know if the boats would be running. And if we did get on a boat and it started raining, we'd have to get off at the first stop.
We got on the boat and headed off. We made our first stop at the Dolphin (or was it the Swan). Again, the CM made the warning. He also told those going to the Boardwalk that it'd be easier to get out there and walk over
We continued our journey and got to the Yacht/Beach Club dock. But our luck finished there as it started to rain. With no cover in sight, we had to run. We reached YC and went in. We looked around and I didn't take a single picture. Funny what rain and ruined plans can do to you.
We walked over to BC. I liked this resort a lot and would like to stay there someday. The kids loved the look of the pool. Anyways, the rain wouldn't let up and I was really frustrated. My plan had been to explore YC/BC and then walk over to BW. Well those plans were shot to heck.
The only photo I took this evening.
After a little while, we just decided to go back to Kidani. We headed to the bus stop and decided to catch the first bus that came. That was an Epcot one, so we hopped on. When we arrived at Epcot we made our way over to our stop, hopped on the bus and headed back home. It was an early night for us, that's for sure.

What a bummer with all the rain. We had so much rain on our trip this summer as well - it does either wreck havor or clear the park............and if it's a non park day for you, that just stinks

What a shame the rain wouldn't go away! Glad you got in a bit of time at the water park before it started. No warning at all from that beautiful blue sky!
Sorry, to hear about the rain not cooperating with your plans! At least you had some quality time for a few hours in BB! The Mara can be a bit tough to find, but going down the stairs outside the back to the right is one way. It's been a while since I stayed there, but I think that's the best way! I think there is an interior way as well around Jiko and Boma downstairs, but not sure about this!

Sorry that the rain put a damper on your day. At least you all got a little bit in a Blizzard Beach before you had to leave.
I felt bad for the boys because we had to leave early, but Mother Nature wasn't cooperating.

Exactly! At least in a park I can do rides and shows. Non-park days, the only thing you can do is stay in the room.

That's the way I went, through Boma and Jiko. At least I know now where it is and don't have to pretend I'm exploring the resort and watching animals, when in fact I'm lost.

Ugh, yeah. I was really looking forward to exploring those resorts and spending some time at the BW. Oh well... There's always next time.
I love the idea of soaking in the tub at Kidani - it's so huge! I keep saying I'm going to go to Basin, then go back to the room and soak. It'll happen one day!
