Wow! Is he really 10 years old? Let's go to Disney! - The TR - COMPLETE!! 5/28 - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I love the ride photo of Jonathon on Buzz. The fun is written all over his face. It's nearing dinner time and now I really wish I were eating at Boma tonight. Your evening at Epcot sounded relaxing.
We were in MK the same day. We had ate at Ohana for Breakfast, and then headed into the park before we had to go home. I think we may have been in the Emporium during the rain.
Glad everything worked out for Jonathan the next day. I love the picture of him in line for Buzz. He looks as excited as my youngest was waiting in line for that ride.
Michael
Too bad we did not run into each other. I always like meeting Passporters. I think we were all excited to ride some new things. He was just soaking it all in.

Thanks, Buzz was really fun. Dinner at Boma was just wonderful. We were not there long but it was nice to end the night that way. Our mousekeeper was great.

Yes, Boma is not as exotic as you think it might be and always so delicious. Disney is so great with allergies. Those little cupcakes ended up going back to the hotel with us and we ate them later in the trip.

Thank you so much. We love photopass just for that reason so we can get pictures of all of us. Photopass plus was great this time since we did lots of rides with photos and we had several character meals with photos as well. It was well worth the money.

I'm sorry you had such a rough start to your trip, but I'm glad that Jonathan was better with some rest after that ordeal! You sure did make up for lost time once you got to the parks, you got so much done. Looking forward to more!
What a great day! Our Buzz pics showed us concentrating too. You did a lot! Love the towel animals.
LOL, I was trying to hit stuff. We did manage to do quite a bit that day. The towel animals were pretty cool.

Glad you caught up! He was feeling much better. We really did make up for lost time. We were all just happy to be in a park.

After a good nights sleep I set the alarm for 7am. We had a breakfast ADR at Askershus this morning. We were excited for this since we had never been there before. We got up and showered and ready to go. We left around 8:40am. We drove to Epcot and parked and got through security quickly and made our way towards the world showcase. We were walking around the fountain when unfortunately a gust of wind came our way and we got a bit wet. That was not what we planned but on we went. We made it to Askershus around 9:40ish and our ADR was 9:50. We checked in and had to wait a bit. It was cloudy and it started to misty rain so we got up underneath the umbrellas that they have out there and waited. I did not want Jonathon getting too wet and catching cold. I took some pictures while waiting.
We waited a little bit and were finally called in and we got in line for our picture with Belle. Now this was our first Character meal of the trip and I did not know how to use the Photopass plus yet with that. We took our pictures and then I gave them the card and they told me I had to give it to the photographer first before the pics. Well I said ok and we went to our table. I was a bit peeved since I was wearing the lanyard and they could not say something before they started taking pics. I mean really. But I let it go. I was going to make sure when they came around with the photos that we showed them the photopass plus card you can bet on that.
Our pics:
We were taken to our table which was off to the right and at the front. We could see that buffet. We were hungry but had to wait for the chef to come to the table.
They brought us our drinks and the Chef came by. He took me through the buffet and discussed everything. He said he could make me some potatoes with out the dairy element and I said that would be great. Those were the best hashbrowns I have every had and he made a huge portion and I ate it all. Yum.
The princesses came by one by one. Snow White was first.
Then Aurora.
Then Cinderella.
Then Ariel.
They brought Jonathon a little cupcake thing for his birthday.
We stuffed ourselves with the wonderful buffet. Unfortunately it looks like I did not take any pictures here of the food. It had stopped raining when we were done and we decided to ride Maelstrom. Jonathon liked it. Then we headed back towards the front of the park and I went to the camera center and got our photo package added to our photopass card. It was no problem at all. At this point my back was bothering me a bit and I had forgotten to bring the patches that I use to help. So Mike decided he would run back to Pop and get them for me. Such a wonderful husband.
I went over to guest services with Jonathon and got him another birthday pin since the first one we got was missing. I think we lost it in the whole emergency room situation. I then headed over to Mouse Gears.
We wandered around Mouse Gears for a long time. I texted a friend and she asked me to look for some stuff for her there. So I became her personal shopper, sending her pictures of stuff and she picked out what she wanted. It was so much fun. I bought her stuff and then made notes of some of the stuff that I liked. We were waiting until later in the trip to buy stuff. I then took Jonathon outside and we sat on a bench out there next to Mouse Gears.
Waiting for Dad!
Then I decided to head over to the bathrooms near the old Odyssey restaurant. We were crossing the bridge when it started to rain. By the time we got near there we had to hang out under an overhang because the skies had opened up. LOL, it lasted all of maybe 10 minutes. Mike texted me that he was back and in the park. I told him we would meet him back at Mouse Gears as soon as we were done. We took care of business and met him back at Mouse Gears. Did a little bit more window shopping. I went and put on my pain patch. Then we headed to Test Track. We used the GAC and went through the FP lane. The CM at the front asked if we had shoes for Jonathon, he was barefoot because he won't keep his shoes on. We did have shoes for him and once we got to a stopping point in the queue we put them on him. The FP queue had machines for the whole create your car thing but they were not running at this time. Now we have not been on Test Track in years and this was obviously Jonathons first time. We had a bit of a panic moment when we got in the car and his seat belt would not buckel we were telling the CMs and they moved us forward and I about freaked out but they stopped us at another checkpoint and we told them he was not buckled in. They got us situated and he was buckled and off we went.
Our wild Test Track photo!
Jonathon had an absolutely blast on this ride!! He loved it, he giggled the whole way through it!
Playing with the cars afterwards.
That done we headed to Innoventions and went through both sides and checked it all out. Then we headed to The Seas with Nemo. and saw Turtle Talk with Crush. It was cute and funny as always. Then we checked out the Tanks.
Manatees!
Jonathon checking out the fish!
That done we headed to the land pavilion. We went to Seasons for lunch for Jonathon and I as Mike was not really hungry.
My Dish: Oak-grilled Fish - with seasonal vegetables - Delicious
Jonathon's dish: Sweet and Sour Chicken - with Jasmine rice - Delicious as well and enough for 3 people. I think Mike ended up eating some of it.
After lunch we headed over to the Imagination Pavilion.
We rode the figment ride. I still like this, not as much as the original but I still like it.
Jonathon in the wheelchair vehicle which he loves.
After this we walked over to the World Showcase. We saw a Momma Duck and her babies along the way.
They are so cute!
We passed by some of the Flower and Garden festival displays.
Starting to wither a bit in the heat.
We decided to go see O'Canada first. I just love the Canadian Pavilion so I took lots of pictures.
We saw O'Canada and loved it as always. Martin Short is so funny. When we came out the exit it was absolutely pouring again. So we waited there for 10 minutes until the rain let up. Then we headed to the United Kingdom shops.

We were going through the shops when we lucked upon Pooh & Tigger.
Photopass pics:
Then we headed over to the France Pavilion. We wanted to see Impressions. It was sprinkling again and as we entered the lobby of Impressions there was Belle all by herself with no one waiting so we stopped to say hello.
A kiss from Belle!
Then we headed in to the Movie. This film just makes you want to go there.
After France we made our way around the world showcase heading towards Mexico.
We stopped to let Jonathon play the drums a bit.
We got to Mexico and checked in for our dinner ADR at La Hacienda. We did not have to wait too long.
My Margarita. Rosita - El Mayor premium silver tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lime juice, rose infusions, served on the rocks with a hibiscus Himalayan salt rim
So Yummy!
Chips and Salsa
Jonathon was tired but having a good day
Jonathon's dinner: Pescado a la Talla - Grilled tilapia served with esquites (roasted corn), nopales (cactus leaves) and mango chutney
He only ate a little of this, was more into the chips and salsa. Mike and I ended up eating it because it was so so good. The best Tilapia dish we have ever had. I would highly recommend this dish.
My dish: Tacos de Camarones - Fried shrimp, chipotle-lime aioli, cabbage, lime and salsa verde, all served over flour tortillas
This was very good as well. But the tilapia was better.
This was a special. So I don't know what it was exactly since it is not on the menu.
Mike did enjoy it though. Our receipt say Costillas en Salsa which apparently means pork ribs in salsa.
Black beans - yummy
Rice - very good.
My dessert - Sorbet. Very good.
I really liked this light fixture.
We took our time during dinner and stayed to watch Illuminations in the restaurant. That is always a nice way to see it. We thanked our server, she was wonderful. Then we left the park and headed back to POP for the night. I think this was the only night that we did not have a towel animal.
Up next: a non park day and a really nice surprise
Jonathon looks like he can't keep his eyes off of Pooh! Oh, my.... the kiss from Belle shot and the one of the red kiss mark on his cheek are priceless!
I can't believe the photographers didn't say anything to you before taking the pictures at Akershus! It's not like you can't clearly see the Photopass+ lanyard hanging around your neck. I would have been peeved about that too! I wish they would explain the way it works in the paperwork you get with the voucher. We used it for the first time at Chef Mickeys and I had no idea I was supposed to hand it to the photographer. I never did, but I gave it to the woman who brought around our photo package. Luckily, she took the card and added the package to it right then and there, and then she explained how things worked
You had a great day at Epcot and dinner at La Hacienda looked yummy!
