The "Okay-Let's-Get-This-Thing-Done-Before-The-Next-Trip-Starts-TR" - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I love and hate that two family picture. Love it because I love all of you, but hate it because I'm not in it!
I got a kick out of the "little kids" riding the one ride and then see Arnaud in it!
Glad you had a great time in OC. Some year I'm going to have to get my family up there.
And yeah! Zach has arrived! You all had a great time in AK beforehand.

Sorry for the confusion, Linny. I just thought you look different in this cap as opposed to the fedora that the girls have dubbed "the Linny Hat". Just as cute, just different.
Great WDW update and OCNJ update. Wasn't the water COLD in June? I can't believe the boys were boggie boarding. Too cold for me. Looks like you had the beautiful week and not the 6 days of rain, down pours and more rain. The 2 families group shot is a great picture.
Isn't the start of school crazy this year. Evan was supposed to start on the 6th and then the very end of May they pushed it back to the 9th. Plus teacher’s convention this year… that week he only has 2 half days because of election day. It is taking every ounce of my being to NOT move up my summer 2014 trip (I just can't afford it yet).
Your AK day sounds great. I have never seen the parade. I hope to on my next trip but it is always so hot in that park and I end up leaving before it starts. Next trip maybe I'll try to arrive just in time to watch it and then stay a little later as the crowds thin out.
Great beach update. OC NJ looks like it's much nicer than OC MD. Ours has been going down hill for a few years. I'll have to take the family to NJ and check that one out.

I'm happy to keep them tagging along as long as they want to. I imagine our first trip back when they don't want to come will be bittersweet. Don't get me wrong, we'll go , it'll just be different.

The "Linny" hat the real her, but she branches out every once in a while

I think it is so cool that your boys get so into the parades. It adds a lot to making a Disney vacation so special when you can share all the details. Your tiger and lizard pictures are sooo clear! How'd you get them to stand so still?!? Nice gifts from Linny and Family! ...and upgraded to First Class! Way to go, Zack!!!
Luckily enough they enjoy the parades, the shows and all the little things as well as the big E ticket things right now. Hopefully that will last a long time.

Mwah! Mwah! Mushy Mushy!! And I thought I cancelled some of the mush with the olive comment.
That was you on the boardwalk, right??

I wish it was a multi-family picture too. You definitely have to get out here to OC. Hmmm...how can you do that for free??

If end of August ends up being our Disney time now with school, we might just have to squeeze in our OC trip to start the summer off next year too.

Tyler can handle the cold water longer than Jason. Jason is a popsicle in the pool even at camp in the middle of August. He just has no meat on those little bones. But, he keeps going back. We don't get anything except Thurs and Fri for Jersey week anymore, that's why we had to switch to end of August. But, I'm hoping with the late school start the crowds will be really low and cancel out some of the heat.

We absolutely love it there!! We've been going now for seven years. It's a dry town and so family friendly.
I don’t know if it was too much ice cream, or the late night Insanity in the solarium, but we got a later start than we planned on this morning and missed Epcot EMH. Which for our family seems to be par for the course. So, we got up, headed for breakfast and coffee in the lounge and walked through the IG into Epcot.
We got a locker for the day, and some silly hat pictures.
Then we strolled through WS toward our first order of business which was to get FPs for Soarin’.
And of course had to stop for our annual picture of the boys growing up in the Canada masks. (This year Zach won’t be with us and I think when I go to take this picture it’ll hit me hard ).
After we got our FPs we decided to take a ride on the land. When we turned to walk over there, we ran into a friend from home. I always think that it’s funny how out of all of the entire WDW property, you can be in the same exact place as someone you know at the same exact time. It’s a small world after all. We chatted for a little bit and then went to ride the Land. I do love this ride.
The boys teasing Jason for riding with his fingers in his ears.
After The Land, we took a ride on SE and then went to visit the temporary character spot where we saw Pluto, Mickey…
Minnie…
And Goofy…
There was only a 15 minute wait for Ellen then and we all like this ride so we walked over to Universe of Energy stopping to watch the Jammitors (or the Jammin’ Chefs as they’re known during F&WF…not as catchy ).
After travelling back in time with Ellen (Love her but maybe they can get her to shoot a new version?? ) we went back to The Land for our Soarin’ FPs and then some lunch. Craig and I got lunch at Sunshine Seasons. I got ahi tuna noodle salad and Craig got Mongolian beef. Then we brought our lunches to EU so that Tyler could get a bacon cheeseburger, Zach chicken nuggets and Jason the allergy-free nuggets. Then when we sat down to eat, I thought I tasted something nutty in my noodles so I ran back to The Land to ask a chef. They told me it was okay so I ran back to eat. Good thing it was a cold salad to begin with, but I can never be too sure.
Then I finally did it!! It took me three years, but I finally got the boys to go and try some “free” soda…the Beverly!!
(Craig actually said it wasn’t that bad. )
We had some time left before we had to go back to get ready for our ‘fancy dinner’ so the boys wanted to try the new Phineas and Ferb adventure. We had to stop and get a picture by the Cranberry “Bob” and then we joined forces with P&F to defeat Dr. Doofenshmirtz in Mexico.
(I'm not entirely sure what's going on in this picture. )
After defeating Dr. Doofenshmirtz, we started snacking a bit on our way by taking the long way back to the IG. I had Mongolian Beef on a steamed bun from China which was delicious (sorry no pic ) and Craig had Sukiyaki Beef Pan which he said was also very good (again no pics ). But, then Zach and I shared the Pumpkin Spice Funnel Cake in the American Pavilion. That I do have a picture of.
(See all those big-mouth pictures of me on the rides paid off! )
After our little sampling of the F&WF we went back to the BC so the boys could have some pool time before we had to get dressed for dinner.
Zach's Beverly reaction is the BEST! Omg! Love ittttt.
Every single year my boyfriend forgets which is the gross soda. So every single year, I let him try the Beverly and am ready and waiting with my camera
