Sparky's Gone to the World- A TR 9/13/11-9/20/11 - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

You can definitely walk from BC to Epcot, and it's actually a wee bit closer to Epcot than YC. Great changes, especially as it made all your plans work out so well!

Thanks Cam! I have no idea what mode of transport we will take from the BC, but wanted to know all my options.
I know, how perfect did that work out??!!?? It just fit in my schedule so nicely, any other day and it wouldn't have worked. When I searched for times, the only one that came up was 5:10 for that date, which was the exact time I was looking for. It's like it was meant to be.
DH is very excited about this ADR, he was talking about it when he got home from work.
I'm excited that you're so excited about your additional ADR! And I'm at 60 days now, and really starting to get excited.
I was driving home from work tonight, and I realized it was after midnight, and that I was now at 60 days, and I actually squealed like a little girl and did a little dance in my seat...luckily it was dark and no one witnessed my crazy behavior.

60 days! I am at 54 today! Thanks! I am so pysched about that ADR. Now if the government works their crap out, we will be all set.
Eh, you cares if someone did see your crazy dance! LOL You deserve to do it! Dance on!
So whats up with your Disney Planning today Miss Sparkle Pants? Shopping? Packing? Being excited but otherwise nothing? Just thought I would ask.
My Disney planning for the day includes...praying that I get paid on the 3rd. LMAO I am pretty set for now. I think I will make a new entry, so read on.
Most of my WDW planning these days involves saving money to pay for those last things we need. We are getting down to the wire now.
I went to Walmart last week, as I had a doc appointment in the area. Walmart is about an hour away from me. While there I got....
A new pair of Hanna Montana sunglasses for DD. They are plain black, big with rhinestones. I thought she would like them because they look a lot like mine, except mine are brown and have orange rhinstones on the side.
I also got her a tinkerbell shorts and tank set.
I got us a chapstick with sunscreen.
Not too much Disney related. I got other things we needed at home though. So it was productive.
I have been couponing like crazy these past few months. Using coupons, I have put away to bring to WDW with us... Pop Tarts for $0.80, and 2 boxes of cereal bars (Golden Grahams, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch) for $0.60 a piece. I figure that on the days we have a breakfast planned or an early lunch...DH and DD can grab these to snack on in the meantime. Or for snacking at night. Whatever.
I still am working on my list of things I need to do before I go. Though I won't finish it till the day we leave, so..... Here is the list....
Timeline of things to do Any time…..
Print charts, tables, lists (must do when DD is at school)
Empty memory cards
Mousekeeping & DME envelopes (must do while DD is at school)
Buy 2 disposable litter pans or aluminum trays
Buy 2 pair cheap (Job Lot) sunglasses for DH
Buy batteries for camera
make copy of house key
Go to school and fill out vacation form for DD- AUG 31
10 day mark on….
Online check in
Check amount & buy if needed, cat food & litter
Get suitcases from sisters (must do while DD is at school or at night)
Pack (must do while DD is at school or at night)
Day before we leave….
SW check in- 11:45 am, 24 hours before flight (ON THE DOT!)
Call bus and let them know about DD not riding
Talk to brother about cat directions/give key
Bring lockbox to moms/talk to her about cat directions/give her a key
Charge cell phones and video camera
Night before we leave….
Load car (after DD goes to sleep)
Gas car
Day we leave….
Feed DD breakfast (this is when she will find out we are going!)
Leave out extra water, cat food, bowls, spoons, extra cat litter pan
LEAVE by 6:45- 7:00 am!!! JJ
While it seems like so much more, it really isn't. I'll work on the any time stuff and it will be checked off before I know it. Then the rest is all good fun stuff because the trip will be SO close.
The main thing that is concerning me at this point is the financial end of things. I have one more week to see what is going to happen.
Until then, I will continue as I have and get the things on the list done, that I know I can...take my mind off it a little.
In non Disney news, this past week I ended up putting myself out there which I don't normally do very much. In some ways or sometimes, I am very outgoing...and others not so much. I don't even know how to explain why or what leads to either case. But anyhow, I have a friend on FB who is someone I went to school with, but never knew in school. She is friends with a friend of mine (who we also went to school with) and the past few years have talked at various parties, weddings, and bdays.
Last week she and I both responded to another friends post about horror movies and it ended up we both love this very quirky, 80's, cheesy, B movie...which I happen to own all 3 of. So I responded saying "We should get together and have a movie marathon night!" Next thing I know, she says "I'm free Wed or Sat night which works for you?" We made plans for Sat. night and decided to grill up some dinner too.
Friday, I had a h-or-r-i-b-l-e day!!!! I am okay, just life getting to me or people, the MAJOR HEAT we had, tiredness and panicing about finances with the trip. Let's just say that on a normal basis I could hold it together, but with the heat and the exhaustion (part of my illness) I couldn't hold it together. I was this close to cancelling for Sat night, but decided that I really needed a night for fun. My family has been down to one car for the last couple months. With DH going to work, I have mostly been in the house other than bringing DD to horseback riding twice a week and getting the errands done on those days as well. Not to mention we have been trying to conserve gas because one, we need to cut back somewhere and two, this car is a gas pig! You all are familiar with Brady!
So Sat. night I went to my (new) friends house. It was the right decision! We laughed and laughed and laughed, and when our bellies hurt from laughing so much and hard...we laughed some more! We ate a yummy grilled dinner of steak tips, turkey kielbasa, pepper and mushrooms, and watermelon...and had a couple glasses of wine. But literally a couple for me...before dinner and the second movie...during the first one. I did have to drive 2 towns over to home. We have talked of doing it again, to watch the third movie we just couldn't do (it was after 10 by then) and another one. I hope so, because I had such a fabulous time!
So that has been my life with the Disney planning and on the living front. LOL 50 days now!!
Oh, and I have started reading Roots by Alex Haley. Pretty good so far. When I finish I am going to see if I can rent the miniseries from the library.
Glad you had a fun time on Saturday night. Sounds like you really needed it!
Thanks Kathy! I have no fear of getting my list done, plus really...I am a list junkie. I making lists and I love checking off items on my lists. I have running list for just about everything you can think of. I have a 3 ring binder with lists that I use on a daily basis.
I really did need to get out on Saturday and I had such a great time!

I thought I was the only one! I am QUEEN list maker! DH laughs but I have ongoing lists. When I don't pick something up at the market - my question to him is "Was it on the list?" Usually the answer is . We already have a Disney list (or two) going and we are 100 days out!
Glad you had such a fun time. Sometimes you need that!
I definitely agree that the Clambake was meant to be...how perfect that the one day you needed it, and the right time was open. I think it is a great addition and you will love the stroll over to Epcot, it is one of my favorite reasons for loving the Epcot resorts, just taking a leisurely walk to Epcot...can't get any better than that.

Girl, my friends make fun of me saying that I make lists about my lists. Or watch out don't get Sparky's "LIFE NOTEBOOK" wet, dirty, messed up, how will she live?
Sometimes, I sit down to make a list of what I have to do and it takes me an hour and then I am like...."Ahhh...I need a break"
I even have charts of lists that I have created and print out...so that way I don't have to keep writing the same stuff over and over...I do however have space to add things.
I had lists going for this trip when I booked it....in Aug. 2010! OMG! I already have one list going for next years trip in Dec.
Thanks!

I completely agree that it was meant to be. Now we'll see if the powers that be create more cash flow so we can cover that extra meal. Thanks so much for commenting!

A 3 ring binder with daily lists, sounds like what I need for work. I'm always making list and I have a thousands post it notes (I'm a post it notes junkie!) all over the place. I love making lists to. Especially when I'm planning something. I've been known to rewrite lists over and over again!
