My Very "Meety" Christmas Party - COMPLETED!! 12/15/10 - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We were seated at a table in the center of the downstairs area, and as our server approached and opened her mouth (no doubt to ask if we'd like a beverage), I imperiously waved her off and said, "Dahling, I KNOW what you're going to ask, but I have a strict policy NOT to sign autographs until AFTER the meal."
Sandy started laughing. The server looked uncertain, then opened her mouth again. I waved her off and said, "No dahling, rahlly I must insist that we be served first. I promise I will sign anything you like AHFTER dinner. Dahling, you know I'm here shooting a film, don't you? This young lady plays the ingenue, and I'm trying desperately to impart the wisdom of my experience to her."
Then, in my "normal" voice I said, "But seriously, we have to be out of here no later than 6:30 because we have a dessert party to attend."
The poor server shot a desperate look at Sandy and said, "Is this for real now? Or is she still . . . ?"
Sandy assured her that we DID have to be out of there by 6:30 for a dessert party. At that point, I allowed the poor woman to inquire about drinks, and then I said, "Dahling, you know I want my usual -- the Derby Margarita!" She started laughing and nodding, and Sandy ordered a glass of wine, and I think the poor dear was glad to get out of my clutches for a short time!
Now, this next part is too, too funny. I ordered two appetizers: my usual crab cake and salad, and the server asked what order I'd like them in. I said, "Please bring the salad first, dahling."
Sandy ordered a main course that looked wonderful, and it arrived at the same time as my CRAB CAKE. A different server brought us the food, so I didn't say anything -- and I honestly didn't care what order the food came in.
Here's Sandy's chicken:
And my crab cake:
Then our server scurried over with my salad and said, with some fear in her eyes, "You wanted the salad first, didn't you?" I was in the mood to be gracious, so I smiled invitingly (but it might have been my Maleficent smile, I rahlly cahn't be sure) and said, "Dahling, it's quite all right, rahlly it is."
Sandy was so hard I was afraid she would choke. The gentleman at the next table over kept looking at me like he thought I was nuts. He was simply EATING HIS FOOD. Wasn't that peculiar of him?
Earlier in the day I'd told Sandy about Adner, a server who has waited on me a couple times at HBD and how much I adore him, and how we saw him in October when Sheri-Terri and I lunched at HBD, and then WHO DO YOU THINK I SAW AT THE TABLE BEHIND OURS?
It's Adner, dahling! Of course he remembered me, he always does, what a dear sweet man, rahlly he is dahling.
Every time our server came back, I'd try to come up with a new "bit" to make her crack up. I forced her to get a picture with us:
When I finished my margarita, she came back and asked if I'd like another. Before I could say anything, Sandy yelped, "PLEASE no, don't give her another drink!" And then all three of us started
The server was nearly doubled over by the time she brought our check. That's when I hit her with my coup de grace: "Dahling, have you seen my husband recently? Has he been in here lately?" Jumping into the act, she said, "Which husband?"
I stiffened my spine and glared at her. With a flick of my wrist I flipped back one of my ears and said, "MISTER GOOFY, of course! Honestly, the help in here gets less intelligent every day." She was
And both Sandy and I left her incredibly generous tips, just for playing along. Whew! That was exhausting but so, so much fun!
Now it was time for the dessert party, and all the Reunioneers were supposed to meet by Rock N Roller Coaster. We spotted light-up lanyards for $5 apiece on one of the carts, so Sandy grabbed enough for all her kids and bought me one as well. Sandy!
You can either see a picture of us or a picture of the lanyards, and by now I figure you're ready for the lanyards!
That's all you're getting out of me this week! Next up: the most magical finale ever! Hope you're enjoying my story so far!
Stacey, it was so cute to see how Bullseye, Woody, and Buzz all maintained their individual personas throughout the breakfast.
Woody found everything knee-slappingly hilarious, and he would hold his sides and shake to indicate he was laughing. Buzz stayed tall and strong and positive, giving lots of thumbs-up to everybody. And Bullseye somehow conveyed sweetness and shyness.
It was all so adorable!
Today I brought my Toy Story backpack to the office and gave it to a coworker whose little girl had come to our office Halloween party dressed as Jessie. I said, "Be sure to tell Margaret that Buzz and Woody signed this just for YOU."
.
That is awesome! I wish this was available all the time! And how absolutely sweet of you to give your backpack to Margaret

OMG...I bet going grocery shopping with you is a real adventure.
I have to admit, reading this TR has made me realize I'm wayyyyy too serious on our vacations...and I didn't think I was that bad at all. But I'm definately going to have to loosen up next trip.

Rick and I went out for Mexican food last night, and over margaritas I reenacted the Brown Derby dinner. He was pretty good, but he's also "laying down the law" saying I really shouldn't renew my AP in February because I'm getting too obsessed with Disney.
Doesn't he realize I've ALWAYS been obsessed with Disney? Whether I feed the habit or not, it's there.
Why oh why can't non-Disney folks get it??? That's why I love all of you, dear readers, because you definitely GET IT.
