Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Iamgrumpy does MOA a Trip Report! Updated 10/04 again!
Friday September 30th Part 3
I arrived at the hotel and tipped the shuttle driver for unloading the bags and went inside the hotel the place was really nicely decorated and clean. The area around the hotel was more like a business park with two other hotels next door on the right was Country Inn and Suites by Carlson and Staybridge Suites on the left. Our shuttle picked up Hilton Garden Inn and Staybridge Suites Guests from the hotel and mall So I am guessing they are owned by the same company. I walked up to the front Desk and a very scrumptious guy checked me in it was definitely good eye candy. Luckily my room was ready as it was already a long day with all the traveling. So I went up to my room on the second floor Room 223. I looked around the room it was a good size, very clean and very nice view of the parking lot but most of the trees and bushes in front. I like to unpack before doing anything else so I did just that…I don’t think I needed all the clothes I brought as its going to be in the 80’s not the 30’s I packed for lol.
Once I unpacked I looked around the hotel found the pool It Has a Hot tub! now we are talking my language! By now it was close to 1pm and I knew Lisa was going to get there around 5 so I went upstairs as I was getting a headache and needed sleep. I called home told them what room I was in and set the alarm. I climbed onto the king size bed and crashed for a 4 hour nap. I felt like a toddler I really needed that afternoon nap. I woke up when my mom called around 4:45 and got freshened up and not long after Lisa was calling and she was in room 219 only 2 rooms away
We decided to take the 6:30 shuttle to the Mall to grab dinner and that was a good decision as it gave us a chance to find Bubba Gumps and then check in at Rainforest for dinner. We were lucky I remembered to bring my Safari Card as it got us in with very little wait and 10% off of our bill. Lisa had a burger and fries I believe (Lisa if I am wrong could you correct me so much food that weekend) I had the Mayan Beef Burrito and that was Fabulous! Another Sprite (still haven’t drank the two from the plane maybe later)
We walked through Camp Snoopy and called the hotel shuttle we were pooped and still wanted to hit the pool and hot tub so we arranged for an early pick up as they only pick up at 2:45pm-6:45pm-9:45pm. They picked us up and we enjoyed seeing the sights on the way back we both thought it looked like a city on the east coast but couldn’t think of which on it reminded us of.
We made it back to the hotel and checked out the pool it was a nice size and the water was just right temperature wise. We stayed about an hour and then we both were ready to drop from the long day! We grabbed towels at the pool and on the way out as I opened the door the A/C in the hall was so cold I felt like I had gone swimming in Alaska and frost was growing on my nose and hair. We ran to the elevator and were so tired couldn’t stop laughing as I broke the elevator button for close door. I fixed it and we realized that we both need sleep. So we said our goodnights and arranged for breakfast the next day.
The Best Thing today was Making the earlier flight.
The Worst thing was Security at Bradley Airport!
The Funniest Thing was “you want a can of Sprite!”
The Temperature was … In the 70’s and sunny.
Up Next: It’s 9 am for breakfast and 11am for lunch?? Boy we will be stuffed…

Cool update, Amy!!
I know what you meant about the weather; I packed for 60's/70's, not 80's. Too bad the weatherchannel.com wasn't more on!!

I'm glad you made the flight and were able to finally catch up on your sleep with both the nap and the early night. I'm looking forward to more.

Re: Iamgrumpy does MOA a Trip Report! Updated 10/04 again!
Hey, Stranger
Didn't realize you had started this; you're way better than me. I'm working for the next ten days straight, and then headed to NYC for another long weekend with the soap stars. Such is the life of the weary traveler! I'll start my TR when I can...
Great job so far. Yes, I had a burger and fries for dinner. I think you covered everything else, except I'll mention that we couldn't decide whether suburban Minneapolis reminded us of Orlando or Boston. Still, it seemed like a nice, clean city with good public transportation.
Oh, and I don't know about you, but the time change was messing me up. Minneapolis is 1 hour behind us, and I couldn't figure out why the 11 o'clock news was on at 10. Hard stay up an hour later there, and hard to go to bed an hour earlier now. I have the same trouble when Daylight Savings Time changes.
Can't wait to read more, and I know what happens next!

It was nice you guys got rooms so close to each other.
Now, I'm waiting for the part where you talk about everywhere you shopped after lunch at Bubba Gumps! Those are my "missing hours". (I think I'm watching too many of those new alien shows out on TV this fall. )

Re: Iamgrumpy does MOA a Trip Report! Updated 10/04 again!
Sounds like you had a nice trip there. I love it when I can fly stand by on an earlier flight!
If I didn't have a coupon for the Marriott, I would have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn too with you guys. Too bad. I would have liked to soak in the hot tub! Although I didn't even think to bring my swimsuit.
