As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Fun, flowers and firsts THREAD 3 OF 3
I am loving your trip report. I guarantee that it will be the first thing I catch up on when I return from disney. That is if I don't read it every night after the girls go to bed while we are there.

Re: Fun, flowers and firsts THREAD 3 OF 3
That's the thing about our Florida and the rain . . . sometimes, it looks like the sky is going to rip open, but you just never can tell when!!!
I have only been to PI once and it was in the daytime when nothing was really "open" . . . also, I am not so sure it is really our bag either so let us know what you thought and maybe my hubby and I will have to try a night out when we visit with his parents in March!!!
Will come back to check for more posts in the morning!!! Looking forward to it!!!

Re: Fun, flowers and firsts THREAD 3 OF 3
Sunday 2 May – part six: bumping and grinding at the Adventurers Club
Jennifer and Dave, along with us and his parents, Freddie and Adele, were heading for the Adventurers Club, which I’d heard a lot about on the boards, so I had a vague idea of what to expect, but Dave was a superb tour guide, taking us round it and explaining all legends and stories of the club to us. Without a guide like him, I think some of the theming would've been lost on us and that would've been a great waste.
Ok, I’ll say it now, I am a reserved Brit, I will admit that. I know I joke about it on the boards, but that is me and I don't like the idea of being picked on to do things, so I was a little nervous of the show were about to see, Samantha’s Cabaret. I needn't have worried. After picking on the group who were in Orlando for the conference of the American Association of Orthodentists, very funny (Sam kept asking them to stop eyeing up her teeth), her attention turned to married couples and who had been married the longest. I thought we were doing well with 31 and then 38 years (a couple from North Wales in the UK), but no, there was better to come. It turned out that Freddie and Adele, Dave's parents had been married for 53 years, which I found hard to believe, but it was true.
Well, he turned out to be a great sport and was up there bumping and grinding with Samantha and it was hysterical. But the end of the show, I had tears in my eyes, I was laughing so much. By the time the show ended, it was 11:30 and I was starting to feel tired, so although half of me really wanted to stay and experience a bit more, the other half of me was telling me that enough was enough, so I choose to listen to about half and told Jennifer that we'd head off. It turned out she was feeling tired as well, so we said our goodbyes and I took the opportunity to grab a couple of photos of the happy couple.
The happy couple
We never did get to say goodbye to Freddie and Adele, as Freddie was still being mobbed by adoring fans, well, that's what we figured anyway. We had a great night and I am so glad we did go to Pleasure Island with Jennifer and Dave. It was a lovely experience and it was wonderful to be able to celebrate their happy news with them. It was a very unexpected, but very funny evening. They are great people and if you ever get the chance to meet up with them, then make sure that you do.
The thunder and lightning had stopped by the time we left the Adventurers Club, but it had only just stopped raining. The showers had obviously been coming and going all evening, as we had just seen some people walking into the Adventurers Club, who was soaking wet. The area outside the West End stage was deserted, which did surprise me as it was only 25 minutes away from their New Year’s Eve celebration. We decided not to wait for that, as it was already pretty late.
One final shot of Downtown Disney at night
That turned out to be a good call. As we drove back, it started to rain again and we opted for valet parking. Another good call, as the heavens opened again just as we handed the car over.
Torrential rain as we walk back to the Beach Club Villas
We were in bed by about 12.05, after listening to a message from Maureen and I think we were both asleep by about 12.06.
The weather was hot and sunny and in the 80’s with the rain on and off through the evening.
The best thing today was meeting up with Jennifer and Dave and going to Pleasure Island with them.
the worst thing today was getting lost on the way to Wal-Mart again.
The funniest thing today was the Adventurers Club and “Fast Freddie” bumping and grinding.
Today we tried the Adventurers Club
And the result was despite my fears, it was really good fun.
The most magical moment today was discovering Jennifer and Dave had just got married.
Next: an improved attraction and breakfast with the Princesses

Re: Fun, flowers and firsts THREAD 3 OF 3
Finally just got caught up again with your trip report. I'm glad you enjoyed your evening out at the Adventurer's Club. I cannot believe this was your first time at Pleasure Island. Will you go back in the future do you think?
Absolutely wonderful photos once again.

Cheryl - how cool that you got to see Jennifer & Dave on their honeymoon!! No matter how many times I meet them I still always feel like I am meeting "famous people". I haven't tried the Adventurer's Club yet but based on everything I keep hearing we're going to have to soon!
I'm hoping I don't fall too far behind on your report while we're in WDW!!
